This.

On one checkride, I observed a Pilot blow through the ILS on base to final.  He had no idea how this could have happened. So I intervened, to let him know that he forgot to check that he had the right course dialed in and that this was a direct result of the the Pilot neglecting to check his gig on the downwind.  This created an electric phenomenon, causing the aircraft's ILS to malfunction.  It was a shame, the dude was a good Pilot, but I had to teach him a lesson.  Unfortunately for him, he did this during a checkride so my hands were tied.   The only man I ever saw cry during a debrief.   The last that I heard, he transitioned to be a woman Pilot flying rubber dog shit out of  Hong Kong.

This is a good start to your biography Biff.

Most people here are ridiculous.  Airmen weren’t even aware the gig line was no longer a thing.  Or hair touching the ears.  This is just adjusting the books to the culture that always was, nothing more.

Secretary Hegseth is spot-on:  unity is the message, and that is crystal clear throughout Air Force formations.

Agree or disagree, we are moving forward with the right focus and message.

It takes that sort of attention to detail to ensure Boeing's commercial sales are humming right along.

"At the close of 2024 fighter pilot retention rates have hit historic lows, with some airframes reporting bonus take rates as low as 29%."

Keep moving forward with that message, it seems to be resonating with the force.  Soon you won't have any pilots to screw over.

Weren't you on the 86 USAFA hand ball team with uncle Allvin?

Chang,

Hate to tell you, but the reason Airmen aren’t aware of these things, is the fact people aren’t hold them accountable and won’t correct someone on the sport for things that shouldn’t be a issue. The last time I saw people on my bad water boys outside of a court was a wing CoC and that was comical, cause most probably haven’t worn blues since basic. It’s not a thing most operators and out maintenance folks will ever wear due to our jobs.

the rest of this is just a drastic over correction to what shouldn’t be done. We’ve seen this before and will see it again. But this will have an impact in what people will do.

The right message is our strength is our unity. Anything else is a waste of time and energy that will not make us more lethal. We have bigger problems your kind has allowed to happen and you are just pulling back harder on the death spin.

“Agree or disagree, my opinion is right!”

Truly spoken like a General…too bad you’re a keyboard rando. Go with quals lol.

My assertion is CSAF’s message is *not* the right one. And you know I’m not a flag officer because most of those cockgobblers would never say such a thing; it’s usually a hinderance to future promotion. Hopefully some of the good ones do so behind closed doors at least…

We should be focused on retention and growing the force, growing our magazine and the number of platforms / capabilities we can bring to bear at critical junctures, and in realistic & frequent training so when the SHTF against a near-peer we don’t f*cking lose on Day 1.

ANYTHING not directly and violently aligned with the above is a waste of limited attention/focus/resources.

Advocating for “strict adherence to standards and guidance” is just an excuse to seem like a big, strong “strict dad” type while we blissfully whistle past the graveyard on the shit that actually matters.

The last thing I wanna see is an amazingly crisp, straight gig line on an airman’s service dress uniform as we load him into a box and bury him six feet under.

My theory….the crack down on hair and nails is more related to transgender stuff than readiness and standards. If the CIC is barring trans folks from serving and puts biological sex back into the SURF, it’s an effort to essentially force compliance with directives. If you’re born a male but decided to start trying to grow a vag…time to chop the hair and fix the nails or get that boot.

Or maybe I should just put my tinfoil hat back on.

Nostalgia. It was one of the best trolls ever, people here were losing their minds. Those were good times.

I didn't realize this. Bad leadership doesn't just retire, they go on to assist screwing up billion dollar industries.

I think both the reg change and the reaction from the masses are distracting arguments...however, c'mon Big Blue, get your shit on one sock and make sure your public media recruiting campaigns are squared away first!

Although having seen how the Puzzle Palace works over the last few budget cycles, the lack of thought beyond the initial good idea fairy isn't surprising.

general chang provides excellent insight at the flag level. like him or not he is well connected and has the pulse of leadership.

I miss the good old days when we obsessed over black socks and grass in the sidewalk cracks.

All is not as it appears, read beyond the headlines.  Just because commercial sales are humming along does NOT mean you are making money, quite the opposite with Boeing:

1.  Losses piled up for Boeing in 2024 - BLUF - They lost $11B in 2024

2. Boeing has lost $32 billion since 2019, with no end in sight. How long can it keep losing money?

3. Boeing’s Self-Inspection Program Is Deeply Flawed - BLUF Boeing has long operated under the Organization Designation Authority (ODA), which allows them to sign off inspections in lieu of FAA inspectors.  With all the recent issues including the recent door blow out, the FAA has severely restricted their ODA.
