Without Manas that means all -135 ops are on a single runway. If the Deid shut down for some reason Manas + Dafra could be a band-aid fix. It's also a stretch for Deid based tankers to get up north and still have a reasonable amount to offload. Manas was also a huge staging point for ground pounders going in and out of the country. It's where they would swap from a charter jet to a C-17 to get into country.
  2. I have seen both desert cloth name patch on the shoulder/arm as well as actual multicam pattern wings placed above the name tape.

  4. Holy crap...can't believe I missed that. And can't believe I didn't know he passed away. Quibbling: This time last year I was in the brain sucking land of the Deid so that might explain it...
  5. "To this day, there are veterans of the 1/7 CAV who are convinced that God may look like CSM Plumley, but HE is not nearly as tough as the Sergeant Major on sins small or large." - Excerpt from his Army Times obituary It is with a heavy heart that we report that CSM Basil Plumley passed away at 0400hrs this morning, 10 OCT 2012, after being diagnosed with Colon Cancer and moved to a Hospice a little over a week ago. CSM Plumley lost his first battle on this day, but i am sure he is now whipping Heaven in to shape, as his Soldiers meet him at the gates in formation. CSM Plumley was the epitome of a Soldier and a Warrior. RIP CSM, you have done your time in Hell, now it is time for you to rest. Thanks to you for all you have done for this country and our freedom. Words can never express the gratitude we have for you and the selfless service you have given to this great country.

You didn't miss much. Really just some per diem, some drinking, and a lot of blue cool aid.

Well, multiple times, people on this board have inquired as to your experience (both in terms of leadership and flying) and you have been extremely uncooperative as to disclosing any information.
  11. Some of you must be having an aneurysm then when talking about this jet...
  12. Correct, there was also contingent of East German terrorists (disguised as Soviet soldiers) that attacked American forces in West Germany.
  13. But....they were lied to by Bush about all the fictitious WMDs! DUH!

  15. We currently have a dictator and radical Islamic terrorists killing each other...am I the only one who thinks this is the best foreign policy we have had in a couple decades?
  16. 11 Years and a Colonel?
  17. So what is it? A UFO? The Russians? The Chinese? NOOOOPE. Buddy finishes our normal AR with the TACAMO's and they drop into STL for transition. Hilarity ensues. ST. LOUIS, MO (KTVI) -A mysterious white plane drew plenty of attention Tuesday afternoon near Lambert Airport and nearby Maryland Heights. The low flying four engine plane came low over ranch style homes in Edmundson and prompted some to take photographs. Janice Marienau of the 43-hundred block of Beauty in Edmundson started to photograph the plane after it flew over her family’s home three times. Then she called FOX 2 News when calls to Lambert Airport and Scott Air Force Base in Illinois turned up no explanation. “We thought it was unusual because we thought why not Scott Air Force base, why not Mid America where they don’t have a lot of traffic,” Marienau said. The low flying plane raised even more questions when some military jets took off at Lambert. “I was telling my mom and my brother they were so low I think if somebody jumped out of it with a parachute they wouldn’t have had time to open,” she said. One of her photos, when enlarged, showed a U.S. Navy white star in a navy circle and the word Navy on the virtually all white plane. Navy Commander Ed McCabe cleared up the mystery. “It’s a strategic communications plane we use like a radio in the sky.” Pilots from Tinker Air Force Base in Oklahoma were taking advantage of the good weather to do some training in the Mercury E6. Commercial as well as military airports serve as practice points for low approaches and touch and go, Cmdr. McCabe explained. “They need to see a variety of airports; the more fields a pilot sees, the better prepared he’ll be,” said McCabe. It’s routine training for new or experienced pilots that is all done with the permission of air traffic controllers at the airports. https://fox2now.com/2013/08/20/large-white-plane-flying-in-pattern-worries-some-in-st-louis/
  18. Common sense has prevailed.
  19. To play Devil's advocate...what happens when a Jewish or Christian religious scholar decides to write a non-flattering book on Muhammad? I don't think the book is gonna make the best sellers list, that's for sure.

THIS! I left -135 PIQ with 644K points.
  21. I'm neither a C-17 or -10 driver, but I can say I picked based off location and I have no regret. I love the -135 and I guarantee I would have loved any other jet just as much. TL;DR = TFI is the best thing known to man.
