  1. It was fiscally prohibitive to redesign the 767 fuselage even more so to fit a person back there. I believe they are already cutting it very close with takeoff and landing rotation/flare clearance between the runway and the boom.
  2. Video is "Private." Anyone got a fresh link or care to recap?
  3. I've spent a couple hours staring through my phone using the Android Star Map over there. Just type in your lat/long into the app and it pretty much aligns and it's awesome. Technique only.

It's damn near 2015...is it too much to ask for an ambi slide lock?
  6. Not a lot in the media about this. The two innocent victims tragically killed during a terrorist siege at a Sydney cafe have been named as cafe manager Tori Johnson and barrister Katrina Dawson. Mr Johnson, 34, was shot dead after he heroically tried to wrestle the gun from the hostage-taker inside the Lindt cafe in Martin Place just after 2am on Tuesday morning. Ms Dawson, a 38-year-old mother of three children under 10, later died in hospital after being held hostage for more than 16 hours. She was a barrister at Eight Selborne Chambers in Sydney's Phillip Street, opposite the Lindt cafe. It comes after revelations the remaining hostages made a break for the exit of the Lindt cafe about 2am after gunman Man Haron Monis began to fall asleep - more than 16 hours after he took 17 people captive. The 50-year-old gunman is believed to have fired the first shots before teams of heavily armed police swooped on the cafe in a hail of gunfire and brought an end to a tense stand-off. Mr Johnson, Ms Dawson and their Iranian-born captor were killed in the dramatic and chaotic firefight as terrifying details continue to emerge of the terrorist siege. Hundreds of floral tributes have started to appear in Martin Place, with the NSW Police Commissioner Andrew Scipione and Premier Mike Baird personally visiting the site on Tuesday morning. Women were photographed standing outside the Lindt cafe on Tuesday morning with tears streaming down their faces just hours after the siege ended. Police said the 50-year-old gunman was pronounced dead in hospital following the firefight inside the cafe. Six others were injured, including three women who had to be treated for gunshot wounds. A 75-year-old was shot in the shoulder, a 52-year-old in the foot and a 43-year-old was shot in the leg. A male police officer who was injured by gunshot pellets to his face. Two other women who were both pregnant, aged 35 and 30, were assessed for health and welfare purposes. Live television coverage earlier showed at least two people being taken away from the scene on stretchers, while one hostage was seen being carried out of the building. She has been identified as Westpac executive Marcia Mikheal and was pictured visibly distressed with blood flowing down her leg. Eleven hostages were accounted for after the police raid shortly after 2am. Five hostages had already escaped earlier on Monday afternoon. NSW Police Commissioner Andrew Scipione said police entered the building after they heard gunfire and feared hostages had been hit. 'They made the call because they believed at that time if they didn't enter it would have been many more lives lost,' Mr Scipione said. 'I understand there was a number of gunshots that were heard, which caused officers to move straight to what we call an EA – emergency action plan – and that caused them to enter.' A crime scene is still set up in and around the Lindt cafe as investigations continue. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2873855/Gunman-takes-hostages-cafe-Sydney.html In summary: The cafe manager was killed trying to disarm the guy and the woman who died later at the hospital was shot while shielding a pregnant hostage. Damn.
  7. Didn't the missile guys get rid of their jumpsuits for cost saving measures? And we are giving TIB a onesie, a track suit (we know they drink the Kool-Ade), and a God knows how long from their real job? Awesome.
  8. Only issue is, that majority of the knowledge that gets passed down is in that "lump of luck." Our WIC guys are 110% over tasked and always deployed so it is unrealistic to think they are going to mentor the new guys. The O-5's are generally crossflow guys who know very little about the MWS or only flew that MWS on their 1st assignment 6-9 years ago and are too busy to talk jets to the LPA now anyway. So that leaves a bunch of junior IPs that may or may not have been pushed through too early. IMHO, the AF values crossflow too much. Jack of all trades, master of none mentality.

Surprised this hasn't been posted yet:
  10. I wanna know what Grandma and Grandpa thought...
  11. I think the winglets was a marketing ploy to confuse Airbus. Pretty sure Boeing figured out really quick that the MPRS/WARP pods and the winglets didn't get along on the 767 wing. That's the first I've heard about the 46 not having TR's though...now I half expect the AF to demand the accessory gearbox to be even lower on the pod just to ensure minimal ground clearance.
  12. Hard to clear with your ears when half the jets are getting clearances from merc and the other half don't have merc...
  13. Nothing wrong with a Dodge IMO. Edit: And by your logic: Since Dodge was recently purchased...you can virtually say you own a Ferrari (or a Fiat depending on the audience).
  14. What I have heard is that it's all down to the wiring. Boeing is having issues doing the triple redundant wiring since that wasn't really designed into the 767 but is a requirement for the KC-46. There are only so many holes in the fuselage going into the wing and when you have to run the same wire three times all a specific distance from each-other this is the result you get. Not giving Boeing a cop-out...since this was a well established requirement but it isn't as easy as slapping a franken 767 together and ending up with the KC-46.
  15. https://www.today.com/news/america-loves-you-jay-leno-surprises-wounded-veteran-new-car-1D80301922 With how negative the news has been lately it's nice to see a decent feel good story. Leno is a huge car nut as well.

All you need to know about is Illinois is they will do anything for a dollar. The entire FOID thing is a tax without calling it a tax. Same with the CCW. Supreme court says they they have to offer CCW...so what do they do? Charge $150 for in res and $300 for out. All about the $! But, FOIDs are free for military and you can snag the 8 hour CCW class instead of the 16 hour (2 day) for Active/Retired/ARC guys. Baby steps in the right direction for my state.

What's the reasoning behind .380? It is the same diameter as 9mm...so why not just go 9mm?
