NT, where is the Command Post verification? Would be helpful to point folks to something official as FB is awash in unconfirmed reports, as you mentioned.
  3. if Gorenc is the next CSAF, that would be ok... Goldfein still needs to get some 4-star stink on him.
  4. wrong thread. If you want to start a new thread related to this topic, then do so.
  5. if you are considering punching, sounds like you've already made your mind up. I don't regret for an instant my decision. Also, you can take TAPS up to 2 years out from your expected DOS, so if you're within 2 years of your AFSC, you could easily sign up and knock it out. If you haven't already set up a LinkedIn profile and used some resources to get a resume squared away, you're behind the power curve. Get on that ASAP.
  6. I was a free agent, applied for separation on 25 Nov 13 to establish a 1 Apr 14 DOS (my ADSC had expired on 13 Nov 13 already), was approved on 26 Dec 13, and started terminal leave on 3 Feb 14 (final out 31 Jan). Also had to route it through the WG/CC for the less than 6 month request, just put "job opportunities" in the justification block.
  7. every instance I've heard of this results in the member remaining at current duty station. Not cost effective for DOD to move you with less than 2 years retainability, and in this day and age of tightnening of purse strings, odds are in your favor you'd stay there.
  8. that's because for some idiotic reason crash suppress in the AGSS disables the seat shakers and screws up the aero package. (in the OFT and WST we usually have crash suppress/override on). BTW, got 5 red screens of death in a row today in the OFT, while sitting on Pad 3. It won't be missed.
  9. our sims will be running 20 hrs a day starting next week, b/c the OFT is going down for 3 months at the end of this week for computer/software upgrades. Finally ditching the 386 processors and the horrible UI...
  10. don't kid yourself, there's already a stipulation for premium pay outside the defined "normal" hours, and more premium pay for overtime. I get premium pay if my shift starts before 0600 or after 1300 (standard 8 hr day).
  11. shit we can barely network sims in buildings 100 ft apart! And we're only ~300 meters from DMOC. Doesn't help that each of our sims was built by a different vendor, with technology decades apart...
  12. no helo slots on the AF side?
  13. not quite your situ, but we had a guy in my unit several years ago who got orders to an OCONUS assignment. The ADSC would have taken him past his UPT ADSC. He declined the assignment and had to establish a DOS for 2+ years in the future equal to his ADSC expiration. He then remained in the unit until he separated.
  14. https://edodo.org/ not much activity these days but here it is...
  15. like someone else suggested, being able to have your .pst live on the shared drive would also do the trick. The key is needing to be able to access those emails from any work station. Not sure if it would be easier to put the storage burden on the local server farm or on the enterprise email servers... I've always wondered if there was a way to leverage all the 500 mb hard drives installed in all the desktops on the network to create more networked storage space.
  16. So that just happened at KIKR last month. An email from the CCC no less, with a 15 MB attachment. The CS actually sent out an email to everyone telling them to log on to webmail to delete said email, which of course no one received b/c of said 15 MB email bogging the servers down to a standstill. Took 3 days to unfuck the situation. I wish people would learn 1. you can upload larger files to sharepoint then email out the link! or 2. you can said your 15 MB ppt as a PDF and/or "optimize" to discard cropped portions of photos to reduce the file size.
  17. these people already exist. They're called pilots and maintainers.
  18. don't feed the troll.
  19. ohhhh, because a thread has never gone slightly off topic before? Who fucking cares! Good on Rescue getting the job done!!!
  20. stract replied to a post in a topic in General Discussion
well I know in Rescue at least they don't forget about you when you go off to school/staff. There's a master list that an O-6 in the community plays chess with for career arcs. (Typically it's someone in the 23 WG who is calling all the shots).
  21. I know the AC-130 schoolhouse is at Hurbie. Not sure on answers to the rest...
  22. the tenuous link is the callsign SANDY and what that entails. CSAR and SAR. I agree this is ridiculous.
  23. stract replied to a post in a topic in General Discussion
aside, the Sandia National Labs cafeteria on base is awesome. Open to everyone (mil get a free drink with your meal). They also serve breakfast. I have a friend who works there who pointed me to it. Slightly more expensive than the Kirtland chow hall, with more and better food options, and no ridiculous requirement for Os to be on TDY orders to partake.
