Bed Bath and Beyond - Veteran's Day
So a friend just posted she got 20% off her ENTIRE PURCHASE for being a veteran. Apparently this is happening today and tomorrow (10-11 Nov 15). So if you've been meaning to go buy some stuff for your house, now is the time!

Any Former AF Tilt-Rotor Bubbas Need A Job?
as I mentioned, interest comes with knowing the location. We're dancing in circles here, maybe contact your friend and see if he has a link to a job listing with details.

Any Former AF Tilt-Rotor Bubbas Need A Job?
would probably help if you could post location...I have friends in the CV world, but they'll want to know where this mythical job is before they might be interested.

Advanced Instrument School (AIS)
Thanks Breckey. I'm trying to figure out if all the services who currently teach the AIM method teach it the same way. The way you describe is how I learned it via the USN at Whiting Field. Since USMC and USCG training is also conducted by the USN, that only leaves the Army.

Advanced Instrument School (AIS)
nunya, I went to AIS in 2011. Was quite bored...I like the mac daddy of approach lighting systems! I'm building a working model just like they have at AIS to incorporate into my IRC, in fact. Back on a serious note...that FM doesn't explain HOW to figure out which sector you are in to determine your holding entry (unless I missed it somewhere). That's what I really need. Skyking, so that's how you'd teach a brand new student at IQT? I don't need snark - I know how to figure it out, using my tried and true gang signs, I want to know how others have instructed it to figure out the best way to present it to the students. Thanks for playing.

Advanced Instrument School (AIS)
thread bump Any Army aviators lurking who can provide any gouge on what the Army teaches holding entry and HOW it's taught? I already have my hands on the Navy Instrument FTI. Trying to see what the other services teach for the AIM method of entry. The Navy way is the relationship between aircraft heading and the reciprocal of the inbound course and gang signs, curious if the Army teaches it that way too. Reason - AIS is saying the 70º method is being dropped from the next version of the 11-217.

ADS-B in Military Aircraft
don't have enough real estate for that. Plus I'm sure having two transponders would prevent the PJs from being able to carry 3 grenade launchers.

What's wrong with the Air Force?
glad there's an entire forum below dedicated to JQP stuff. Where this article is already posted.

ADS-B in Military Aircraft
not without disabling power to your entire transponder (Mode 1, 2, 3, 4, etc), assuming it's integrated that way (like ours is going to be).

American Express - Platinum Card
I got the same notification from them yesterday as well...which seems to correspond to when my AD CAC expiration date is (Oct 2015). Either that or it's highly coincidental, considering I've been out for a while now. All good things must come to an end, I guess. Now I need to decide if I really need to keep this card (AMEX Hilton HHonors Surpass) or not. Or find a better value for the $95 annual fee in another card.

HC-130 Info
KIKR hasn't existed for several years as an identifier. It's KABQ. If you are on base, avoid being lodged in Bldg 1911. If you are off base, stay north of Central and East of I-25 to avoid the most shady parts of town (South Valley). Even better to be north of I-40, but Nob Hill is a decent enough place.

Army to AF Transfer (Green to Blue)
I know a Former Army Guy who came to 60s for a tour (as an O-4), and now he's flying Preds at Holloman. So if your bud is looking to get OUT of helos, RPAs might be a viable option...

HC-130/MC-130
the full-up syllabus at Kirtland (no Little Rock) is starting 1 Oct - I confirmed today with my colleagues, for both MC-J and HC-J. They've already been sending CSOs straight here from UNT, apparently, and the rest of the crew positions will begin 1 Oct.

HC-130/MC-130
full-up Kirtland will be happening, I think I the near future. Lockheed is hiring like mad all the brownsuiters they can get their hands on, and they're slowly taking all the cubicles in our building... I survived Valdumpster for 4 years, so you can, too. Tucson is awesome. ABQ is also a nice place to live (in the right part of town). Sorry I can't fill in any other gaps for the HC bubbas.

Track Selects and Assignment Nights
quick update on Rucker drops, since no one there has been posting them recently - this is from a convo I had last week with a Rucker IP. Drops favor 60s over Hueys (last class had something like 5 60s and 3 Hueys) these days. Expect 5 ish FAIP drops in a year (which typically go to those who ask for them), and CV-22s will be starting to drop again at Rucker (unknown amount, but my guess would be near the same number of FAIP drops, give or take, from historical averages when they were dropping before).

F-16 Crash At Tyndall
Reading the source data (the actual AIB), instead of a PA-butchered interpretation will probably clarify.
