  1. oh that risk matrix was probably run decades ago, doubt anyone could find it now. You could press-to-test with an 847 if you wanted, but it would be YEARS before you'd see movement, since those changes would have to be coorded by all the MAJCOMs... ETA: and you'd probably have to have a working relationship with the individual who was re-writing that AFI or T.O. to even get the ball rolling. Doubt an 847 would make it past a MAJCOM staff to the OPR at the Air Staff.
  2. it's a risk acceptance thing. The AF has decided which is the appropriate level to accept certain risks, and to what authority it can be delegated. It's not just "because", it's because at some point, someone at MAJCOM staff ran a risk matrix and decided what made sense for what level assumes/accepts a given risk. I can definitely say you won't have much headway on lowering that acceptance level, but you may have better luck requesting an update to the MEL (using your example).
  3. except that the right one appears to be missing the inboard flap
  4. Breckey, you will get issued MASSIF when you get to your unit. It's our standard cold WX gear. But yes, it will be nice for it to be fully legal (right now can only wear in the SQ and out to the flightline/in flight, but not around base. YMMV downrange.
  5. anyone have a copy of the PMBOK Guide, 5th Edition in PDF form they can send my way? Or know where I can DL free?
  6. actually, it's an important question, now that the new JTR rules are taking effect. If he's PCSing, and this is a TDY enroute, then he will also be received BAH from his previous duty station, and will therefore have more $$ to spend on a place.
  7. THAT is simply amazing. ETA: too bad the stories don't convert as well...
  8. we should send Dennis Rodman to find out what's going on.
  9. if you are a combat veteran, you get free VA health care for 5 years. Go talk to your Veterans Assistance office.
  10. Also, the thread title is misleading, they were TDY from Warner Robins, not stationed at Kadena. http://www.macon.com/2014/10/06/3347532_three-air-force-airman-washed.html?sp=/99/148/198/197/&rh=1 A Toast...
  11. Have you compared AFFES prices to the Apple . com govt store? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  12. if you buy a MBA or rMBP 2013, you absolutely need to max out the RAM, as you won't be able to do that later. The reason the Macs are more expensive is that they last longer! Doing the math, you would ultimately spend the same amount on Windows machines over the longer period of time that your Mac remains in good working order. Maxing out the RAM "future-proofs" your laptop. I have a mid 2013 rMBP (13") with 16 GB RAM and the 512 GB SSD. May sound like overkill right now, but I plan to hold onto this laptop for a loooong time. Apple also offers a govt discount, and that's how I bought my laptop.
  13. yes, it's posted on the AFFSA/AIS sharepoint site. ETA: the link is right above your post.
  14. sorry, you need to submit a new ticket through the ESD.
  15. go weld a hitch to your bumper. Get a roof rack and a big Thule thing. Rent a uhaul truck and tow your car. make multiple trips. mail your shit. convoy with your friends/parents. borrow someone's truck. hope you get a bit more imagination at UPT.
  16. travel status. You get 1 day per 400 mi (TDY) or 350 mi (PCS). Outside of that, you will be charged leave.
  17. Back when we shared the pattern with the T-6s and T-38s, we just went down to VLD for CEPIs.
  18. and there's still someone coded as an MH-53 pilot even though those were all retired 5 years ago...
  19. were you asking because of this: http://www.10news.com/news/man-says-helicopters-flew-close-to-his-ocean-beach-home-08192014
  20. http://access.afpc.af.mil/vbinDMZ/broker.exe?_program=DEMOGPUB.static_reports.sas&_service=pZ1pub1&_debug=0 Scroll to the bottom to the [RETENTION] section and select MDSACPSUMMARY. It seems that only Hueys and F-35s are happy pilots these days and have a take rate that exceeds the non-take rate. Everyone else is hovering around a 20-30% take rate. And the FY15 numbers aren't better.
