This aircraft was one of three EC-130’s (62-1809, 62-1818, & 62-1857) borrowed from the 7th ACCS at Keesler AFB, MS in 1980 for use in Operation Eagle Claw, the attempted rescue of American hostages being held in the embassy in Iran. The role of the EC-130’s was to carry fuel to a remote landing spot in the Iranian Desert code named Desert One. Large fuel bladders would be loaded into the back of the EC-130’s along with fuel pumps and hoses.

Hyperbole... In 1945 we had 12.1 Million Americans in the active military, by 1950 we had 1.4 million. By 1970 the number had increased to 3 Million only to slowly reduce over time to 1.4 million in 2007. Will we get smaller, most certainly, but nothing like we did after WWII and Vietnam.

The Brits can't afford either carrier and as they start a second round of major cuts it the carrier gets the axe there is no reason to buy JSF, especially when you already have Typhoon on the ramp. I disagree. USAF and USMC have bet the house on the program, but the supporting timbers are starting to give way. The Navy has been quietly buying F-18's to "fill the gap", Australia is buying F-18's as well. This week several European countries announced a three year procurement slip. The Italians want it but can in no way shape or form afford it, the Israelis say they are in but they are buying it with our money and most importantly, the new SECDEF is a known budget cutter who is looking at a huge bogey with regard to reducing the Pentagon budget. Nothing is off the table.

ATF to Require Information on Frequent Gunbuyers in Border States

There is a pawn shop/gun store on the south side of Hey 98 in between Navarre and Gulf Breeze that used to have a really good selection of lever action rifles. I did most of my transfers to them when I lived there. Always hunted with a Marlin 30/30 as a kid, very versatile weapon. I also have a Winchester Model 94 22 LR that perfect for small game. My next lever action is pictured below:

No specific feedback, but I do know SOF folks have been doing very good on promotion boards, PME, Command select boards. The style of combat since 9/11 means the SOF folks have garnered a lot of medals, trophies, and other accolades which have made them very competitive...in some regards too competitive to the point that other commands have complained and pushed back. As far as I know the number of IDE/SDE slots remains the same, but the pool of strong records in the SOF community has increase thus making it harder to get picked up.
