  1. Pentagon loses $85 million in F-35 parts... But by gawd, you had better not accidentally use your GTC (while activated) to purchase something that your per diem more than covers! 🙄

  2. We had a dude who said no to the jab and was sent home with like 6 rides remaining in the B-Course. So now, instead of having 4-ship flight lead, he's headed back to start the B-Course over again...what was the cost to the AF on that boneheaded move to not let him finish? One of the more gratifying things I did as a SQ/CC, was sign the paperwork to wash his UIF clean and send him back to training.

  3. It's close enough for starters. You will continue to get unsolicited financial advice on how you should be saving and what you shouldn't be buying, throughout your airline career as demonstrated on this forum repeatedly. You didn't get this far because you were stupid so just ignore it.

  5. No thanks, I have standards. Really though…the 757 has an RMI and ADF pointer. CRT ADI, HSI, and engine stack. Otherwise analog everything else. Unless it’s an H3, it’s at least 2 generations ahead.

  8. Well, I think we found our fix to fix nazi. That said, you ain’t shit unless you can shack a F2F directly into a holding pattern, correctly apply the Mercedes Benz method for holding entry, proficiency triple the drift on the outbound leg, call ready for the approach after the first turn, then precisely fly a DME arc, compute the proper lead radial, and roll out on the NDB final within a degree, maybe a degree and a half (I mean, the needle does waiver a bit so I’m willing to cut a little slack here), figure your descent rate, execute a complex missed with a non-standard climb, and F2F yourself right back to the IAF to do the VOR this time. No GPS. Under the hood. In the Tweet.

  9. The T-38A I fly still has 1 TACAN, 1 ILS, and that's it. Pencil-method, Rule of 5s... bring it on!!

  10. Many times, over the middle of the Pacific in the wee hours of the morning have I considered the number of latex dongs I’ve helped deliver around the world, spreading pleasure to women everywhere. Then I remember that 90% of them are probably just headed to BQZip’s mom’s house & I throw up in my mouth a little & wash it down with some freight dawg coffee while I try to think about something else.

  12. You are correct. Trained pilots are required to meet FC II standards which are significantly more lenient than FC I. If you don’t meet FC II standards waivers are given for most everything at that point. The only time a trained pilot gets DQ’d is when there is a safety of flight concern or when they don’t meet retention standards. There really isn’t an FC II exam comparable to the FC I process. You are required to have an annual PHA, which is done by the flight doc and that’s pretty much it.

  13. The sims are pretty worthless in my humble opinion for Contact stuff. I'd say the best way to utilize them would be to get ahold of the checklists and get good at those. If you get out there on your dollar ride and you get the jet running before the FUEL BAL light comes on (two minutes), the IP will probably be impressed. Other than that, the sim is awesome for instruments and emergency procedures practice.

  14. The best thing you can do is know where all the switches are and link that to the checklists. Get a flow going w/ all the pre-start checks, engine start, before taxi, etc. If you can do those quickly (and by that I mean smoothly w/o missing or just skimming over something) w/o having to look at your checklist every single item, that'll help a lot. But, still refer to your checklist to ensure you didn't miss any steps or do them out of order (not as big a deal in the T-6, but definitely not a habit you want to get into, especially for airframes down the road). A good technique that works for many is to do several steps (6-9), then glance at checklist to make sure you got everything. At this point, that's more important than flying circles.
