I found it easier to just pretend you had no idea the rule existed, or that you forgot. Playing dumb was a surprisingly powerful tool in an organization where the entire officer system was predicated on the officers voluntarily pushing themselves to the limit on the hopes of securing promotions. And in Bagram, my missing reflective belt was always wherever I was going. I kept one at the squadron and one in my room for the rare time an SNCO wanted to call my bluff and follow me to the destination. Drove them bonkers.

That’s an interesting perspective, can’t say I disagree. We have to see how it all settles out, but I think we may be seeing a significant shift where the Republicans and Dems have switched places as “the party of the people” and “the party of the elite ruling class, billionaires, etc.” The GOP will really ride this rocket ship if they’re successful (and this will take voters doing their part) at flushing the establishment Rs from their ranks.

You guys are arguing over whether or not she's a real Democrat or Republican as though we aren't in the middle of another generational transformation of the parties. There is no party ideology right now. Obama was the death of the Kennedy-to-Clinton Democratic party and Trump was the death of the Nixon-to-W.Bush Republican party. We have no idea what the next versions of the parties will look like, so how can we know who is a "real" member?

Only once on AD (as a Capt) did I have to do a closed door correction on a SNCO. Never had any negative reactions from it. As SocialD said, don’t be an asshole, but as an officer, grow a fucking pair and act like it (and don’t be wrong when you have to do it).

This is how we know you’re delusional in a basement somewhere. Collective defense against Russia is the main reason NATO exists. Having them join would be inviting the fox to guard the henhouse; they would be able to obstruct anything they want, just like they do on the UN Security Council. Do you get paid for this nonsense?

It looks like the 2025 NDAA changed getting out before ADSC completion if passed over twice: Lame. They must be very desperate to keep people in. I hope anyone passed over once before this came into effect is grandfathered into the old rules. In the end, the pay difference between Captain and Major is insignificant and no one in the airlines will give a crap. The military is just getting their full chunk of flesh now.
