Somewhere between 80k and 100k people were at the Trump rally in New Jersey yesterday. That says something.

He was a really good dude who was loved by all and the AFSOC community is justifiably upset. Being a cop is not easy, daily life or death decisions, and as in this case you will be judged for the rest of your life by the choices you make. That being said, training and leadership set the tone and this department is floundering at best. As mentioned above this is the same department that mag dumped a police cruiser with a handcuffed person in the back because a freaking Acorn fell and hit the roof. This community has crime but nothing like other areas of the country. In the history of Okaloosa County the department has lost five officers to gunfire, four of those were domestic violence situations, the last one happened 2.5 years ago. Everything about this call is odd and to some degree the officer was led down a very bad path. HE certainly had poor training and I beleive in most other areas of the country domestic calls get two officers. They won't say who called, but the lady who meets the cop MUST be investigated. She guides the officer to Fortson's apartment then says she heard "something that sounded like domestic violence TWO WEEKS AGO." That is NOT exigent circumstances, there is no warrant, there is only hearsay, no probable cause, but the cop starts pounding away and ordering the door to be opened...a complete fail. Roger has zero duty to open that door and to be clear the courts have ruled that repeated official commands to open a door without a warrant probable cause invoke the 4th amendment. As far as punishment, Roger did not deserve to die, but he was one of the few that stepped forward and swore an oath to protect and defend the Constitution, I would hope all of us would honor his service and allow for the officer to enjoy the protections offered by that document. He deserves due process and if he is found guilty he should be held accountable, but should not be purposely thrown into the general population for "extra" justice. Rest easy Roger and thank you for your service.

Apropos of nothing, the gays, grannies and grandes fiasco was a windfall for the offender because of doxxing. Based on the online environment so far, it seems possible this FO could end up laughing all the way to the bank with a similar outcome.

Cops need to understand the the risk of death is not a hazard of the job to be mitigated at all costs. Sometimes death is the job. The military has understood this forever, it's the entire concept of "service." At some point the combination of bad training, low staffing, and low resources created a mindset that cops should be held to the same standard as the rest of the population. I think that's silly. If a cop sees someone with a gun, there's no acceptable excuse for killing that person unless they are actively using that weapon against the officers or bystanders. Just holding one isn't enough. Neither is waving it around, if the cops are the only ones at risk. And if somebody is in their own home, and there's no evidence that they are already committing a violent crime, cops shouldn't even have their hands on their guns. The entire paradigm needs to change.

Sure, but there’s a difference between voting for someone and going to his rallies as well as voting for him. I’ll vote for Trump because I agreed with a lot (definitely not all) of his policies (even though I personally dislike him) when he was president, and I agree with very few of Biden’s and also think he has major cognitive issues…but I’ll never go to a Trump rally, even it was within a 30 min drive. So I think the rallies are a reflection of the differences in enthusiasm for the candidates, which is what the vast majority of the polls have been saying for a while. Now Trump still had far more people at campaign events in 2020 compared to Biden, but that was also in the height of Covid… which today very few people seem concerned. The vast majority of the polls also show that Trump is doing quite a bit better with minorities compared to 2016 and 2020. Add in the fact that Biden’s approval numbers have been in the upper 30s/low 40s for quite a long time…which no president in recent times have been reelected with such low approval numbers 6 months out from the election, and I think the nod today definitely goes to Trump. I think it will once again come down to turnout, and don’t underestimate the Dem turnout machine. I wouldn’t be surprised if either one when given how divided the country is, but if I had to put money on one today, it would be Trump.

Between Biden and Trump, I'd rather have Trump. In a normal world, I'd never consider voting for Trump but Biden and his crew of flunkies have got to go. I knew a retarded dog who was more self aware than Biden.

This is going to happen in every job, everywhere, forever. Especially with men their early and mid twenties, but by no means limited to it. We will always fight it, and most of us will behave, but biologically adult women (post-pubescence) are always going to get biologically adult men to act in accordance with a few million years of biological pressures.

After 4000 hours of military flying and 14,000(?) hours of commercial flying stretched over 39 years, I'm still not bored and wondering what I'm going to do when I finally grow up and have to get a real job.

We had a Dr in my ANG unit that was a pilot. She never had a problem being proficient at both. It’s very doable if you want it. A few years after retirement from the ANG, she obviously remained a Dr, but she missed flying. So she now flys for AA, and does her Dr thing on off days. Jail. It drives me crazy that we put cops in jail for shitty situations like the George Floyd case, but cases like this slip by, especially if there isn't a race angle to sensationalize.

I completely understand the distaste for trump, but holy shit, if one votes a second time for this disaster admin, they’re brain dead.

As much as this story sounds plausible, my inner misogynist thinks this chick may be reconstructing history in the debrief after she gets crushed industry wide for being lame. I know it’s highly unlikely for a female to not accept the consequences of her actions, but it’s possible.
