Yeah, I like to think the role of law applied without bias is the best way to go but I'm not sure it's possible anymore. I've held that belief for as long as I can remember but it has been slowly chiseled away over the years. Was it Lois Lerner at the IRS not being held accountable? Was it the FBI lovebirds investigating Trump exhibiting bias not being held accountable? Was it an FBI agent lying to get a FISA warrant to spy on US citizens getting a slap on the wrist? Was it Muller who spent 2 years investigating the Trump Russian collusion hoax not just not looking into the Steele dossier but acted like he hadn't heard of it? And now the FBI has raided the home of a former president. Was it the FBI intentionally deep sixing Hunters laptop? Was it guys like Clapper, Brennan, and Macabe that demonstrably lied to Congress not being help accountable? Was it the 50 intel people who lied and said Hunters laptop was Russian disinfo not being help accountable? Then there are Antifa rioters vs capitol hill rioters, illegals crossing the boarder without vaccination were good vs citizens without vaccinations were bad. And this just a short list of stuff I can think of at 6am. There have been so many contradictory actions from DC that break down to ideology that I'm not sure fair is possible anymore. It is tribal. So, do you stick with the old rules and laws which are being applied unidirectionally and your tribe continues to lose or go with the new rules which seems to be that winning is the only rule and whatever it takes to win is okay. Either path is going to be very bad for the future of our country.

No you walnut. Mistakes and fuck ups happen. That's inherent in the system. These weren't fuck ups. These were intentional applications and misapplications of law based on the political party of the subjects. You think lying to the FISA court was a fuck up? Knowingly using campaign oppo research as evidence? Leaking investigation details to the press? Going on TV daily to lie about the details of the investigation? How about the tax returns that somehow made it to the press, was that a mistaken email from the IRS? Where was the Hillary raid? These cases are so similar it's hilarious, except in her case, the head of the FBI claimed that it was likely her bathroom server of classified emails was compromised by foreign actors. But no no, no need to kick in the door for that. You think these differences are just oopsies? Then you're a fool. The anti-Trump movement has been willing to do and be everything they accuse Trump of being in their crusade to save "us" from him.

Yep, sure did. And I didn’t even have to post it twice. Guys have been saying to “vote with your feet” since at least 2014. How’s that working out for us? Congress controls the purse strings, they just don’t think we have a problem because that’s what the senior leaders are telling them. They aren’t in the weeds everyday like we are, so they believe them. I also don’t believe it’s going to happen, but instead of bitching about it I’m at least saying something to somebody that in theory should be able to change it.

I know financially it makes sense to get to the airlines ASAFP and never look back. I unfortunately suffer from delusions of grandeur and Stockholm Syndrome and don't really want to leave the job that I wanted to get for my entire life. I'm also not totally selfish and know that my family could really benefit from the extra $$ in an airline career. In my current and future job I will absolutely be gone from home more as an airline guy than an AF pilot. YMMV on that one, big time. It's a no brainer to me that (in my own situation) the only extenuating variable is money. Why not pay up? I have a unique perspective on all this stuff though as my dad was an airline pilot that went through not getting hired for awhile, mergers, furloughs, and 9/11. He punched early after 9/11 to try to get back in the AF as a 59 year old retired O-5 but they didn't want him to fly tankers so he just retired. Even I tried to jump right to the airlines in mid-2020 and that wasn't exactly good timing. All that to say is that I know more about the airlines than the average Joe that never experienced any of that stuff and has just been living the good life the last few years. Honestly the hardest part for me is thinking back on some missions where my crew and the team writ large was able to make a big difference and bring Americans home from some pretty hairy situations. I know that's stupid and you've got to move on but that type of feeling is nagging me more than I thought it would.

How do people not understand that this is everything? Successful societies are not built on right vs wrong. They are built on a sense of fairness. Violate that and you lose it all. If you don't think that it matters that the FBI gave Hillary a pass and is now turning the screws on Trump, you're going to be really shocked when he's reelected president after being indicted, and possibly convicted. Donald Trump is the embodiment of the Republican backlash against what they see as unfair treatment. The solution to that is not more double standards because at least we're doing the right thing now. When the only time you do the right thing is when it's your political opponents, you are not, in fact, doing the right thing.

I feel you there. Though I didn't have a lifetime dream of flying in the Air Force growing up. There is more to flying in the Air Force than a paycheck. I enjoy my job. I like my coworkers. Job satisfaction is high for me right now. I'm also at the end of my career and am transitioning to the civilian sector where my flying training will be properly valued (at least by second year pay--I don't believe that the airlines pay well out of the goodness of their heart). I'm proud of what I've done in the Air Force, I'm grateful for the places I've been, the people I've met, and the missions I've flown. So many people in life are just angry. Angry at "the Air Force", angry at "the libs", angry at whatever. I also understand that many have had negative experiences in the Air Force. I have too. I was non-vol'd to Afghanistan for 364.5 days during a time where Greens were killing Blues. But I also had doors open from that experience that served me well later in my career. I wish I made $300/hr plus profit sharing in the Air Force. I'd stay longer. But the money has been good enough and now I'm moving on. And a great big "thank you" for those who leave after their UPT commitment is up too! You served. Most Americans can't say the same. Go make that bank. Buy that boat, plane, or second wife. Enjoy life. Be happy. Staying in the Air Force isn't for everyone. But it is for some.

I'm not advocating anything because one side may already be there. I'm wondering if both sides should play by what seems to be the newly accepted rules. I don't hear too many Democrats or media, but I repeat myself, standing up saying what has occurred is wrong, unfair, or illegal which means they are okay with it. You say bring the FBI to heel but an agency that has displayed a variety of lies, omissions, and contempt to unseat a president isn't going willingly to that end and can't be made to go without BOTH parties calling for it. Sliding into partisan authoritarianism? By my observation, we've slid. One side put us there and seems happy with it. But you start to make the voting process questionable, force a variety of mandates on people, and the rule of law only applies when one side benefits and the problem will be people NOT giving up on America but how they respond. It won't be good for our country. Help me understand why applying the "comey standard" here would make anything better. His bungling of the email investigation led to Hillary not being held accountable.. is that what you want to happen again? Seems like your argument stems much more from what feels "fair" rather than what the right thing to do is right now. It's political tribalism at its finest.. the other team got away with it, why shouldn't your team get away with it too? This is the kind of childish tit-for-tat game that ends with no one being held accountable and the DOJ being used as a club only to try to whack your political opposition. I've said it before and I'll say it again, either classified matters or it doesn't. If you hold literally any consistent principles above political tribalism you don't get to be mad that Hillary isn't locked up while simultaneously defending/quibbling for trump. They should both be in jail and I honestly can't think of two people who deserve each other more.

Sure. But one wonders things like: Why did it take 18 months? Why was it a raid instead of requesting it from the lawyers? Why was it urgent to raid Trump's house 90 days before the midterms, and not last year? Why wasn't Hillary's house raided in similar fashion? And this isn't in isolation. One may also wonder: Why handcuff Navarro at an airport instead of having his lawyer bring him in for questioning? Why does the Jan 6th committee seem so interested in the testimony of someone not in the vehicle, but has no interest in interviewing the secret service agent driving the vehicle, after it was claimed Trump tried to wrestle with the steering wheel? Why is there no cross examination of witnesses for the Jan 6th committee? Maybe you think this is all impartial. I sure don't see it that way.

Hillary WAS investigated by the FBI. You may not like it, but they decided not to charge her with a crime. Fishy? Yeah, probably. I think the reasoning was that a charge that close to the presidential election would undoubtedly be seen as a political move by the FBI. In the end, it lost her the election anyway. A better option would’ve probably been to wait until after the election. I think there is a very good chance we would’ve seen impeachment proceedings brought forward had Hillary won. But she didn’t. Her alleged crimes were investigated and she faded quietly away. Would re-litigating the episode have any consequential results for the country? I don’t know. I do know DJT continues to be active in politics and badly wants to be president again. Investigating his alleged crimes is FAR more consequential for this country than trying to send a shriveled old lady who lost an election to jail. WRT to Hunter, there is an ongoing FBI investigation, yes? Forgive me if I missed it, but AFIK the details of that investigation remain unreleased to the public and no actual evidence has been released that tie the current president to any wrongdoing. I sincerely hope and expect the FBI to conduct a thorough investigation. If it turns out that the president is involved in illegal activities, I support appropriate consequences. But it sure seems like a lot of people here have already convicted Joe Biden in their own heads. At the same time, they say raiding Mar-a-Lago was inappropriate when we KNOW there was classified material inappropriately stored there. It doesn’t matter if Trump himself walked out with the material or even knew about it (although I find it rather unbelievable that he didn’t). A crime was most definitely committed and to argue that is shouldn’t even be investigated is grade-A, 100% absurd and HIGHLY hypocritical (unless you believe the FBI planted evidence, in which case: look out for those black helos, chemtrails, and gay frogs guys, amirite?). Both parties need to do a better job of presenting us with candidates with vision, integrity, intelligence, common sense, and a litany of other desirable attributes. I’ve been deeply dissatisfied with candidates of all stripes as of late. But the Republican party really put up a softball when they nominated Trump & then basically accepted him as their deity. I’m sorry, but you can’t complain about Bill’s philandering, Hillary’s lawlessness, and Joe’s nepotism, and in the same breath express support for DJT who is all of those things on an order of magnitude worse. High profile politicians of all stripes have played by altered rules for a long time (news flash: Nancy Pelosi and Democratic lawmakers aren’t the only ones who’ve become stupid rich while in office) and I agree it’s wrong, but DJT has stuck his head so far out of the foxhole that nobody should be surprised he’s taking fire.

So once there's a single fuck up (even if it's just subjectively labeled such by a discrete group) you have to actively orchestrate every subsequent situation to also be a fuck up so that everything is fucked up in an equitable way. Great approach to life. I guess double homicide has been decriminalized ever since the whole O.J. situation. You should let the DOJ know they've been violating the fundamental principle of successful societies for decades with that one.

Please point to me the exact phrase in the Constitution that allows for the FBI to exist. There are millions of things that go against the oath we all swore. The oath is useless and Constitution means nothing. None of us actually defended the Constitution. We supported and continue to support our destroyers.
