Jaded, I know at least one pilot at each of the 6 major airlines that do commercial flying on the side. Like Hacker states, there is usually a company process for approval.1 point

Outside professional flying just requires chief pilot permission at my airline -- and numerous guys have that permission. Most that I know of do airshow flying or instructing.1 point

I heard the last crop was so successful they will be retraining heavy dudes without T-38 time now, but they are only selecting from a pool of current instructors with a history of zero downgrades, who were top 10% of their class in UPT, DG’d ROTC, have at least 1000 hours of combat time in the KC-135, high and tights, no kids, and at least one OPR with the word “tactical.”1 point

You don't need to talk to a recruiter, you need to talk to a pilot to get hired. If you want to set up tests and administrative things like that, try the local AFROTC unit as well. They administer all of those tests.1 point

I called the folks at AFPC and he said they were asked by Air Staff to slide the deadline to the right to hopefully give some extra time for additional applicants to submit packages. My takeaway from that is the air force need pilots (gasp) and hopefully they are ready to make it rain pilot slots.1 point

I'd bet they're hiring so many because they're anticipating a bunch to wash out. I could only imagine the amount of oversight that project must have. It's hard enough for the avarage guard guy to prove he's "worthy" of a fighter. Let alone a 35.-1 points
