  1. Should they really punish her? As a public affairs troop, she literally led her shop to produce the most widely shared and talked about social media engagement campaign in PA history.

  2. Just read this article that articulates my feelings pretty well - there are a lot of legitimate issues veterans and service members should be upset about. This re-enlistment isn't one of them.

  5. Why? Why is it different? Because it's "cooler"? Because you approve of it? It wasn't appropriate, but this is not a career-ending offense. Especially in an Air Force where a chief who drives drunk and kills someone is allowed to retire as a chief, and where a senior officer guilty of massive sexual misconduct and abuse of power was given the same punishment - retire as a Lt Col. The implication is clear - wrong-doing is only punished if it might cause awkward questions for senior leadership.

  6. Well said, concur. the video was embarrassing and filming/posting by experienced people showed a huge lack of judgement. However, their error did not jeopardize life, mission, equipment. Firing these folks while ignoring senior leader mistakes that do jeopardize life, mission, and equipment tells me two things: image is valued above substance, and leadership will crush you for violating non-criminal undefined standards. I like that immediate forcible retirement is a tool at the disposal of senior leaders, but this incident is when they use it? Would any of us want the GO who crushed these folks to be our GO who may turn on us if a video surfaced of you without a hat, or having a beer in uniform? What if, theoretically, CVR and FMV emerge of you shooting an injured squirter and CNN demands accountability. Think this group of GOs would have your back or throw you to the wolves? TLDR: initial incident bad, reaction worse. Nsplayr reply good.

  7. Seems pretty excessive to me, especially given the light punishments that accompany actual wrong-doing so often. The message is clear - fuck up all you want, but don't embarrass the Air Force in public.

  9. 6,000 per month x 12 months x 12471 pilots = $897,912,000. Also know as $900 million or just shy of $1 billion. No way in hell Congress approves this or even half this amount for more senior folks. This kind of additional pay is game changing. I had a conversation with my wife along the lines of, "I know we talked about airlines but what if I stayed in and earned $192K/year?" Granted that conversation ended with "Haha - it'll never happen!"

  14. My buddy I and just got hired at Beale (tankers) and were looking at going 50/50 on a PA-20 Pacer with fat tires. Trent Palmer is up in Reno, and Kevin Quinn does his HSF thing up at Dead Cow every year. Pseudo bush flying sounds like an awesome time.

  16. It made the media because it was in social media first, this wouldn’t of made the local news 20 years ago. There are bigger things to worry about. If you’re worried about quibbing like this, then I hope you’re correcting every Enlisted person who doesn’t salute and every Officer who goes out of their way to dodge one.
