I have been hearing some frustrating stories of uniform Nazis on a separate thread. I have seen some circumstances and instances (someone correcting another on isues such as these) come close to getting out of hand (fights, verbal arguements, etc). Honestly, the issue is this...at some point someone who has had enough (missing family, long works days, stress) is just going to snap and flip out. No one wants this. Post some good examples of how to handle uniform Nazis and rules which hinder aircrew flow, etc. What has worked in the past, what can be done? Let's spread the word.

I have heard that some planes get very hot inside and I'm just wondering how hot do they get? Are they hot when you get in them but cool of once you get in the air or what? The reason I ask is I don't handle extreme heat but I can handle Extreme cold, I love the snow. Also when you are in somewhere like iraq what are the living areas like? Tents?

I know the general rule is 2-3 years at a base - less as you go become more senior. But how long should a non-rated new Lt expect to stay at a particular base? I remember hearing that between on-the-job training, ASBC and if you get out after the min 4 years you can expect it to be your first and only base. (?)

Hi All, Hopefully this is different enough to warrant not being a side discussion in the "what's wrong with the AF" thread. Obviously there's a decent percentage of Majors punching out due to reasons that have been adequately covered, but I was curious how long it takes new studs/Lt's to become disillusioned and want to get out as well. There's probably a decent spread, but does it seem like most become fed up towards the last few years or is it trending towards less and less time in? Does it seem like more and more pilots are becoming fed up with the fuck fuck games/general fuckery during/around their first ops tour? UPT/first ops seems likes some of the best ye…

All,I am starting to apply for UPT positions and I have a few questions. I amcurrently an AGR TSgt and if picked up for a UPT position I understand that atleast to begin with for most units it will be a part time job. I want to beready for the temporary financial change etc. My questions are as follows:1) How much does a typical member fly in a tanker, C-130 or fighter unit?2) How much opportunity is there to guard bum? Can you deploy to augment otherunits that may have pilot shortages as long as it is the same airframe?3) After completion of UPT you obviously have limited flying experience &hours, what kind of pilot jobs could you qualify for with that?

Get your training manager to call the Guard Bureau and see if there are any other requests for Laughlin by students selected for Vance or Sheppard(doubtful), its worth a shot. One for one swaps are easier or getting early FY dates are easier to manipulate if your willing to wait a month or two if another student is willing to take Laughlin as a price to go earlier. My friend was working the slots when I worked up in D.C., so I've seen it done. One case of Heineken and I was off to CB instead of Laughlin...but that's a different case literally. Good luck!

Anybody know of another way to check NOTAMS besides DINS (notams.jcs.mil)? I've got my T-1 Nav check tomorrow and DINS has been down since yesterday. Thanks in advance.

All this Viper and Eagle talk has got me wondering something, for you fighter guys, what was/is the reason for you choosing the fighter you did? Mission, capability, sexiness, etc??? I'm no where near any choosing point, but I'd like to hear what the guys flying fighters these days saw/see so appealing about their airframe. Thanks.

Okay my question might be rather dumb. My husband hasn't left for AMS yet, so I know nothing about how this works. I had a friend who went to the Airforce Academy. He graduated last year and I have lost contact with him. I want to try to get ahold of him, and I was wondering if there is anyway I could find his military email address. Any suggestions, or is this impossible? Thanks for the help.

who's the guy or the FBO to contact in Little Rock about getting instrument, multi-engine, and commercial ratings? I finished pilot training a few months ago (shoulda knocked this FAA stuff out while outprocessing Corpus) and I'm here for the FTU. at Corpus and Columbus there were local dudes (sim instructors in both cases) who had this process as streamlined as it could be; anyone know of a similar great American here in central AR? thanks!

So I read this the other day: The U.S. was supposed to leave Afghanistan by 2017. Now it might take decades. and since the forum has been active on Afghanistan related subjects, namely AFPAK Hands, and the basically universal consensus that it is a waste of time, I wanted to start a discussion on whether or not it is time to leave and if so how? Leaving gets misinterpreted with defeat in battle, not so. Leaving means the completion of our military training mission, determination that our rebuilding & stabilization mission has run its course and that it is time to redeploy our forces & people to the northern part of the country, former Northern Alli…

I may be exposing my week brainpower here but was wondering if anyone could suggest some techniques for practicing ops limits. I’m able to do it in writing on the "fill in the blank" sheet. But when it comes to randomly having someone ask me one while standing up I can't seem to spit them out especially with the associated note that may go along with it. We hit the flightline a week from Thursday and I’m trying to get these down. So if anyone has some suggestions for what worked for them please share! Thanks

So, I did a quick search (sorry if it wasn't in-depth enough)...but there are apparently two-year, accompanied positions opening in Guam for B-1 folks. I'm curious what info the forum has regarding Guam. Is this something I should jump on immediately, avoid like the plague, or something in between? I'm married, with an 11-year-old. I've only been in flying positions, both in the line squadron and the FTU, my whole career. I'm told the Andersen assignment is also flying, but I also know B-1s will only be there for a small time during the two years this assignment would span.

Greetings, Anyone in or around HRT/AFSOC hear a rumor about the 1 SOW OG/CC recently putting a CV-22 into the trees about 200m short of the LZ, then throwing the copilot in his seat, jumping off the bird while the crew continues the mission, and then handing out Q3s to everyone for it all? Plus, we haven't heard anything about it at any safety meetings. Im sure I dont have all the facts but it sounds pretty lowball to me.

When flying a jet with a HUD I was curious how much of your time is spent actually looking through the HUD, as opposed to off to the forward-side. I was thinking maybe the symbology could maybe be a nuisance at times and you just look around it? What about during BFM and SAT?

I'm flying the T-38C and looking to save myself a copy of my HUD tape, but since it records the video analog, it seems impossible to find a medium to play the video on, and transfer it to my computer. Any suggestions? And buying one of those $500 tape players is out of the equation. Thanks in advance.

Did a search and didn't find a relevant thread...I applied for a humanitarian assignment about 2.5 weeks ago to be near my father who has cancer. It's currently at the submitted to BPO step. Does anyone have any knowledge on these things and how fast they move? I spoke to my assignment team and there's an open slot at the base I want and they said that they don't anticipate filling it until the fall cycle; does this availability of a slot tilt things in my favor?
