This was already posted in the "What's Wrong with the AF?" thread (as a good thing), but it deserves its own thread for now. Release of the change to 39-2903 has re-authorized colored Friday shirts, name tags, and morale patches. Note that this applies to everybody, not just flyers. Can I get a harumph?

Hello, I am conducting research regarding runway incursion reporting as part of the research requirement for a Master of Aeronautical Science degree from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. The purpose of this research is to identify whether differences exist among different organizations in terms of how often runway incursions are reported. All participation is voluntary and anonymous. In order to participate you must be over 18 years old and have worked in the last three years as: An air traffic controller at either a US military or civilian airfield -OR- An airport manager or in airport operations at an airport that had a functioning air traffic control tower I…

Anyone remember the names of Afghan students who have graduated UPT in the U.S. I think most of them were sent to Columbus, but with continuity over here (none), it's hard to tell. Working on yet another pet project and this would make things much easier. Please PM me names if you remember them, and do not post them to the public forum. .Mil addy available upon request.

With the huge amount of uncertainty surrounding a drop of out T-38s (from F-22 to Cannon NSA), do dudes currently want T-38s? There was talk that one would be able to switch to T-1's if they didn't like it - did that ever happen? Are guys being forced into T-38s? There was talk when I went through 38's that some dudes weren't strong enough to make it and that the reasoning was that T-38's weren't as desirable as they once were. This was when drops included <gasp> several fighters. I imagine that has shifted/is shifting yet further...

Elders, Our class's drop sheet came out this past Friday and today we were snooping around AF Portal and came across AMS. We found that when we put in 2LT and C-17 with "All" as the base selected, the bases that showed up exactly correlated to what was on our drop sheet except there was a number next to how many slots were available. The same held true for other planes we typed from our drop sheet. Was this coincidental, or did we stumble upon a way to find out how many of each plane/base we dropped?

Jack Broughton 1925-2014 Thud Ridge is one of the best books that I have ever read. In my opinion the chapter Longest Day is one of the most heart wrenching and infuriating things published about the US air campaign and leadership during Operation Rolling Thunder. He would have been awarded a second Air Force Cross but it was denied by Gen John Ryan was denied due the "Turkestan incident." His willingness to go to bat for his subordinates is something that I feel would never happen in today's Air Force.

From your e-mail inboxes this AM Fellow Airmen, I need your help. Throughout my Air Force career I’ve learned that when times get tough, Airmen consistently figure out a way to "get it done." Today, complex security and fiscal challenges reemphasize the need to capture and implement your innovative ideas for the Air Force and for the Nation. I want to hear from you and I encourage your participation in a 30 day "Airmen Powered by Innovation" call for ideas on how we can cut costs and better fly, fight and win. There are two options for you to participate in this effort. During the month of May, you can provide your ideas using the Air Force Portal or the A…

Gents- I'm putting together a T-45 low level CCX in a couple of weeks- thinking about heading to Denver. Does anyone have an experience with the VR/IR routes around there? Are any of them any good or is there somewhere else I should look? I wish I could get up to Whidbey and fly the 1355, but I don't think I have enough legs to get up there. And I want to stay away from southern AZ and CA because everyone goes there and I want to do something different. Thanks for the help!

Multicam is obviously worn by the Army and those going outside the wire downrange. In AFSOC, though we go outside the wire and have purchased a ton of the 2 piece multicam flightsuits, we are not allowed to give them out yet. This is mainly because we do have written guidance on proper wear. I am trying to run down who has the authority to ram this thru, and who is the person I should speak to about writing a reg that lets us wrap this up.

A while back, I seem to recall reading a "noise complaint" letter from a guy who lived under a low-level route. The basic premise was "you guys aren't training right--you need to be lower and faster!" Anyone know the letter I'm talking about? If so, can you post it or direct me to it? Apparently my search skills are not as good as I thought. Thanks.

Do accidental ejections ever happen from aircraft. When looking at cockpit photos, it looks like there are several ejection handles in the cockpit. Do people ever get things caught in them, or accidentally grab them when turning around to look behind the plane? I assume that they require a good bit of force to pull in order to prevent this? How else is this prevented from happening?

The soon-to-retire Chairman of the Senate Armed Service Committee, Sen. Carl Levin, gave a speech on 15 Oct, saying: On 1 Oct, Stephen Colbert interviewed ADM Mullen (Ret), the former Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, saying: And lastly, the Huffington Post had a rare moment of sanity and intelligence to publish an opinion piece a few years ago from one retired Lt Col Astore.https://www.huffingtonpost.com/william-j-astore/why-its-wrong-to-equate-m_b_655611.html These three pieces have stuck with me and I believe they perfectly encapsulate a major part of the Zeitgeist for the last 5 years, and probably for the next 5 years. They correctly describe the subconscious…

OK, I've searched about nine different ways and can't find a previous thread. I've been using a three D - cell, LED Maglite for years. I've just moved to a new jet and my bag is now stuffed to the gills with charts for said airplane. I'm looking for something smaller that will still illuminate all the dark crevasses of a large airplane, with a minimum amount of bag space. Any suggestions? Thanks!
