I'm currently in an MBA program (after about seven years active duty and now a dirty Guard guy on the side) and am in the summer internship search process. I got an email today from Pratt and Whitney about their summer internship program, and am going to talk to someone in their HR department hopefully this week to get the what's what on the job. Anyone around here have any experience working with/for/against P&W? Know anyone that has? I'm planning on doing the school alumni database search, but I'd love to get a bro's perspective if there's one out there. Also, bigger picture for anyone who has gone down this road before--I'm not wedded to the idea of s…

https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.express.co.uk/news/world/990914/world-war-3-warning-donald-trump-news-nato-montenegro/amp Couldn't the same thing be said about Taiwan? Granted they never poke the Chinese and there is no NATO umbrella or an Article 5. Taiwan is equipped to fight alone according to one of their officers who spoke to us back in the AFROTC days. It was a female officer who gave us the go at it alone speech.

Might as well go ahead and get this party started. US STRATCOM Commander ADM Charles A. Richard : "This Ukraine crisis that we're in right now, this is just the warmup" "As I assess our level of deterrence against China, the ship is slowly sinking," he said. "It is sinking slowly, but it is sinking, as fundamentally they are putting capability in the field faster than we are. As those curves keep going, it isn't going to matter how good our [operating plan] is or how good our commanders are, or how good our forces are — we're not going to have enough of them. And that is a very near-term problem." "Undersea capabilities is still the one ... maybe the o…

Hi guys, I've applied to 2 guard units so far and no luck...but going to keep trying for now. If I didn't have a good paying job I would totally apply for AD. I know it is difficult to get into pilot training no matter how you go about it, but I imagine it would be easier to get picked up if you went the AD route instead of the guard units. I'm considering going AD for a few other reasons. Browsing through this forum I have read account of AD pilots who have just had an absolute blast in their AF careers. They got to fly numerous different airframes and traveled to all sorts of interesting places. Along with that they work with a great group of guys and form…

I thought this was a pretty good idea. https://www.woundedwarriorproject.org/site/...7481&ct=1301253 This guy is a double amputee from Iraq and had some real financial problems imediately after his injury (his family needing $9,000 just to fly to meet him in Texas because they thought he may not make it home, for example). He is trying to get an insurance program started for severely injured soldiers so that families don't have to go through what his did. The policy would pay $50,000 to an amputee or other severe injury. Good stuff. This could really help some families stay on their feet (sts)financially when income is lost (combat pay, spouses having to q…

Not as sexy as somewhere in florida, and no damn back seat rides, but kinda sweet to get to do ift where the wright brothers flew. Anyways any gouge on Wright Patt would be appreciated, especially if there is someone who knows a cool job for a new Lt. to try and swing (since there are no damn planes there that arent in the museum!!!) If any othe Lt's are goin let me know and if we can live off base, we can get rooms near serority row

My girlfriend is going to PCS to Wright-Patt in about two weeks and is looking for a nice neighborhood to find an apartment, and/or for the place that a lot of the junior officers live. If anybody has any insight, whether you have been stationed there before or if you are there now. Thanks.

https://www.jqpublicblog.com/curbing-wrongful-termination-in-the-air-force-four-common-sense-reforms/ I've been hearing a lot more lately about a lot of the toxic leadership problems in the Air Force and a few victims of wrongful firings. Thoughts on the content of the post and topic? Has anyone seen or hear about this happening to someone they know?

Ok guys, I have a couple questions. Im currently in Pcola for Strike/Fighter training. I will be starting API in a few weeks, so all of my training is still ahead of me. Our only two airframes are Bones and F-15Es. I know we have some Bone guys and Strike Eagle guys on here, my question to you, is what are your pros and cons of your airframes? How many Eagle or Bones slots come through, possibly more E slots? How long is the IFF course? FTU for Strike Eagles is 7 months I believe, how long is it for the Bone? Deployments? Basically my flightmates and I dont have too much info as of now, im sure we will get more later, but just some basic info from the crews …

Two weeks ago I found out I lost my WSO slot but will be going to Intel Training instead. It's an acceptable trade. I'm actually very excited about being part of the intelligence community. Does anyone know much about Intel Training? How is San Angelo? What types of drops are there out of training? I'd really like to get into the special ops side of the intel world, specifically at McChord. Is there anything I can do to get there?

Way to go Germany... Germany frees killer of U.S. diver By CNN Correspondent Chris Burns Hammadi was convicted in 1989. (CNN) -- A Hezbollah militant sentenced to life in Germany for murdering a U.S. Navy diver during the 1985 hijacking of a U.S. jetliner has been freed, officials said. The German government denied on Tuesday the release was related to the freeing of a German hostage in Iraq. Mohammed Ali Hamadi was released Thursday and allowed to return to his native Lebanon on the next day, after qualifying for parole after 19 years in prison, said Ulrich Hermanski, spokesman for the North Rhine Wesphalia state justice ministry. "There was no spec…

Hey guys, I've been reading here a while and I'm looking for a little help... I'm currently waiting to start pilot training at Vance and before I got down here my aunt gave me some of my grandfathers old Army Air Corps things. Neither she nor my dad really know much about what he did but from what they do remember I know that he was flying transport over the Burma hump. My aunt thinks that he did some of his pilot training here but some of the pictures that she gave me also show him in Muskogee. I also have his ribbon rack and he has the Distinguished Flying Cross with a bronze oak leaf cluster. Basically, I'm wondering if there is anyway to find out exactly …

I know this is stretching the ROE just a bit, but I really think this is cool! During the three years I was stationed in Belgium, I got to see a lot of these re-enactments, such as the annual Bastogne march and the Mons Tanks in Town. I think it is great that these folks are working so hard to keep the history alive... By the way, 80-yr-old Maurice Sperandieu has done the 20-km walk every year since 1977. I was lucky enough to meet him twice while doing the Bastogne march, and gave him a unit coin when I last saw him in December 2004, the 60th anniversary of the battle. Cheers! M2

Hey everyone, looks like I'm inbound to XL for class 05-12. I've seen a few other people on here that are going as well and I was wondering where everyone was coming from and backgrounds, AD/Reserve/Guard, etc etc etc. As for myself I'm a former AD guy thats going reserve (KC-135's). Also, is anyone else going to be a Capt?? Hope to see you all there! Andrew

Anyone else know they're in 06-01 at Laughlin? Report dates? I'm there Sept 27. (Doesn't this make you other XL studs feel weird that we're starting 06?)
