https://www.af.mil/news/story.asp?storyID=123011984 This is the first chain of command of this position since I've commissioned. Anyone care to discuss if they ever saw any significant changes after the position changed from one person to another in the past? I know that he is the President's top military advisor, and commands no troops, but I was wondering if things could change a whole lot, and if so, how quickly they could take effect. Just some food for thought (Better than flaming each other and listening to the trolls from the "other" side b*tch & moan about their forum closing) [ 01. I was deployed to a location last year that wasn't considered tax free, nor were the missions. However, now the missions are considered to be tax free, retroactively including 2017. What paperwork do I need for finance to pay me my taxes back? TDY orders, flight authorizations, 781, a written statement? Also, one of my buddies took the rotator out to Dhafra. He crossed into CentCom on the 31st, but landed on the 1st of the next month. How can you tell finance that you actually shouldn't pay taxes for that previous month?

https://www.militarytimes.com/story/veterans/2015/05/21/fighter-aces-awarded-congressional-gold-medal/27702791/ I went to DC for this, and ended up flying two Navy Aces to the event. It was an incredible 3 days. The stories were fantastic. And a few of them stayed in the bar late with me. Every penny of my bar tab was well spent.

Are there squadrons where you'll typically find the higher-speed dudes? I remember reading somewhere about the 19FS (F-15C) up at Elmendorf being the Air Force's top albino squadron...what's up with that? More of an urban legend-type thing? Edit: The 19FS article had nothing to do with their recent William Tell "victory", it was written a few years ago. [ 16. March 2005, 20:47: Message edited by: Dirt Beater ]

Way to go Germany... Germany frees killer of U.S. diver By CNN Correspondent Chris Burns Hammadi was convicted in 1989. (CNN) -- A Hezbollah militant sentenced to life in Germany for murdering a U.S. Navy diver during the 1985 hijacking of a U.S. jetliner has been freed, officials said. The German government denied on Tuesday the release was related to the freeing of a German hostage in Iraq. Mohammed Ali Hamadi was released Thursday and allowed to return to his native Lebanon on the next day, after qualifying for parole after 19 years in prison, said Ulrich Hermanski, spokesman for the North Rhine Wesphalia state justice ministry. "There was no spec…

Nope, I'm not asking about sex-parties at Little Rock... Just wondering if anybody had further info on a rumor: Apparently, there was a recent incident, resulting in significant aircraft damage, for which I hear one of our previous students was responsible. The individual just barely passed here at Corpus. Wanted to fish for more info ("unnofficial" can sometimes be the best) before I bring it up in a meeting. [ 28. Hello to everyone from the sandbox. Just wanted to give a quick hello and apologize for my absence in posting lately. I don't know how this board can survive without my one sided and completely irrelevant and unhelpful posts! BTW - Did that Check Six dipshit ever get the message and stop posting? HD [ 21. I've gotten a few letters from a flying club in the local area. I'm wondering if this seems like a good deal to you. A C-172 rents for $80/hour (roughly) in this area so in my mind I'd only have to fly 1 hour a month to break even. $1000 up-front to buy a 1/36th share in the club (which can be resold later) $40/month dues C-150 - $39/hour wet C-172 - $52/hour wet Citabria - $49/hour wet

Okay, so the F-22 is going to replace the F-15 and the F-35 the F-16. When will it be conceivable that these airframes will make it to the guard fighter units? Is this even a possibility that this might happen? I have not heard anything for a while and was just curious as I am trying to get a -16 or -15 slot with a guard unit. Thanks for any insight.

OK so as much as I know about planes and aviation, I wasn't so sure about the answer to this one (given that I haven't flown yet). Anywho, I've heard that the rudder isn't used so much on larger jets, as opposed to props-can anyone clarify this, and why this is? Thanks.

Anyone found a solution to the Garmin 35 interface with the GPS35. The software causes the mouse to go nuts and the moving map is unusable. The CF-29 is a great computer, but the CF-27 is looking better all the time. H2Nav

Im sure that this is a common topic but I need some advice. First off I should have my degree and pilots license by the end of summer. I have been an aircraft mechanic for 7 years active duty and about 2 years as a full time reservist (ART) with the KC-10's at McGuire AFB New Jersey. I work along side the reserve pilots but I really don't know any closely. My question is how do I go about letting them know that I am interested in a pilot slot in the reserves. Who should I talk to? Should I just go talk to them one day, or is it supposed to be a more formal meeting? Im trying to get this rolling but I still feel a little clueless about how the whole process works. Than…

11/7/2005 - RANDOLPH AIR FORCE BASE, Texas -- TH-1H Huey II is the latest aircraft to join the Air Force inventory. It will serve as the undergraduate pilot training platform. This new helicopter is in position near the west control tower here for the base open house event Nov 5 and 6. Some major exterior differences from its predecessors are an enlarged nose, wider main rotor blades and the tail rotor is now on the starboard side for better performance. Inside it has undergone an extensive refurbishment including upgraded components and a new avionics suite with a glass cockpit. Current plans call for 24 of these former Army UH-1H helicopters to be upgraded. New Hue…

Greets all, Standard disclaimer--long time listener, first time caller... For anyone who is familiar with the rescue of Marcus Luttrell in July 2005 as part of Operation Redwings, there is a foundation that he is helping to launch next weekend that will provide a rehabilitation, rest, recovery, and reintegration facility in Texas for wounded and returning warriors-- Lone Survivor Foundation and the Lone Survivor Ranch. My involvement with that mission 5 years ago started by flying Hogs as one of two Sandy Ones that we had deployed with the 74th EFS. There's stories aplenty in that vein, but that's not the point of this post. In looking for more info about the miss…

Did a search, but no luck. Is it possible to change your home of record? I remember someone told me you could do it once in your career, but at the point I wasn't interested. Anyone know of someone who did it, and what kind of asspain process they went through to get it changed?

Why? Am I alone in thinking it has to do with a stretched to the max military and an unsustainable ops tempo that have whittled some sharp points dull? I have always been the guy that says The Man is out to A$$ F#@ you and Im sure the aircrews will get blamed somehow. I just hope something gets done besides blaming the broken aircrews. Shits just not falling out of the sky for no reason. Either the airframe or the crew is breaking.
