so i searched this and didn't come up with anything so i'd go for a new topic. just got word on my next assignment, heading back across the pond to whiteman. how is it there? i'll miss living in cambridge but i hear kc is a good time and nearby possibly enough to live there. can anybody give me a rundown on the base/local area?

Found out I'm going to Columbus AFB for UPT. Is it worth looking for a place to rent/buy off-base or should my wife and I just live on base? No kids, no pets, just us two. Buying would be more for the real estate aspect, so any info on the market down there would be helpful. Thanks in advance!

Bothe the War Zone and the Mover and Gronky show report an A-10 sporting two drone kills on its nose. The kills were allegedly performed by APKWS II 2.75” (70mm) laser guided rockets. If true this offers a much more cost effective alternative to shooting down drones.

Since I am not getting the money for college that I was supposed to get, I am considering enlisting in the Air Force for 4 years, get out, use my GI Bill, go to college, and then come back as an officer. The only AF jobs that are available to me, and the ones that I'm interested in, are (2T0X1) Traffic Management, (2T2X1) Air Transportation, and (4Y0X1) Dental Assistant. I was wondering if anyone in-the-know here can fill me in on these positions, maybe give some pros and cons. Also, is it worth keeping my car if I enlist or should I sell it? I know I probably won't need it if I get deployed, but then again I don't know if I'll be deploying whole lot with either of these …

I got to wondering after reading about AETC switching up the flight screening program... Q1: So, are the Fireflys still sitting in the hangers @ USAFA? Last I heard they were. They didn't want to scrap them, but they couldn't sell them either becuase papa blue would have to pronounce them safe. And even with the post flight test modifications, it was too delicate an issue. Q2: If one were for sale for....say...$40K, would you buy it? Assume that it's modified/repaired. Q3: Does anybody here have insight as to whether the mod program actually worked?

Is is possible to get on order for a bit and go to PIT as a Guardsman? Any UPT bases that do this? Just curious, thanks! Kinz

From BBC News A Nato aircraft has crashed in the southern Afghan province of Kandahar, a Nato spokesman has said. It was not immediately clear whether there were any casualties. The crash was not the result of enemy fire and the plane which was supporting a Nato mission in the area was not a fighter jet, Maj Scott Lundy said. Help me to understand why when we have a discussion that really does relate to military, flying, and world events, does it have to be locked? I am referring to the discussion on the muslim thing. I believe this is a relevant topic...and is important to be discussed, EXPECIALLY because it has to do with the war we are fighting! Ya it may make someone angry...oh well! Does anyone know what the latest change to the T-34 NATOPS manual is? I'm headed to VT-3 in a week (from API) and want to know if I need to add/delete/change anything on my flashcards. I have all changes up to Change 39 (Change 39!!! I guess they've never heard of a T.O. revision in the Navy). Also, anyone at VT-3 know how long the wait is after ground school? Our API class has been hearing a ton of rumors (varying from 4 up to 10 week wait rumors), but nothing 100% confirmed. Thanks for the help. [ 24.
