For those of you who've been through UPT, in your experience, what's the number 1 reason people washout of UPT? Someone has probably posted this question already, but I've been looking around and wasn't able to find it. Thanks

FYSA for my dudes that may be struggling out there: go get the help from these people if you're struggling. Went in last year, had a few sessions, the psych gave me some tools (mental models and ways to approach my situation) that actually helped. Deployed a few weeks later, got back, had my FC I renewed, and deployed yet again. It's in my medical record as well. Mental health shit can creep in over time through your career unexpectedly. If anything, those tools you learn can help mentor someone else who might be struggling. This kind of stuff is going to be extremely important in the future as our conflicts get more intense. I got to wondering after reading about AETC switching up the flight screening program... Q1: So, are the Fireflys still sitting in the hangers @ USAFA? Last I heard they were. They didn't want to scrap them, but they couldn't sell them either becuase papa blue would have to pronounce them safe. And even with the post flight test modifications, it was too delicate an issue. Q2: If one were for sale for....say...$40K, would you buy it? Assume that it's modified/repaired. Q3: Does anybody here have insight as to whether the mod program actually worked?

Does anyone else find it "curious" that the [acting] Secretary of the AF's last job was President and COO of Lockheed Martin?

I'm looking for information on airfield required equipment for a CAT III approach (Marker beacons, lighting, etc.) or any reference to an AF or DOD Manual covering CAT IIIs. Thanks

People often asked me if there is anything to do at an overseas base if you could not get off-base. They were surprised that there were restaurants and clubs to go to, I guess they assumed that that it’s something like Full Metal Jacket. Does anyone know if AMS is excluded from participation at JMAC? Also, can anyone offer a reason why I shouldn't compete at JMAC if given the opportunity (i.e. perhaps OTs that compete have to play catch-up when they return)? I'm assuming it's a positive experience.

I picked up golf recently and I have a kind of mis-matched set (dad and grandfathers old clubs). I want to buy some new clubs, but not spend a ridiculous amount. I know its a little off the subject, but I wanted to get opinions of people not trying to sell to me. Any suggestions on what to stay away from, or what would be a good beginner set? Thx

Since I am not getting the money for college that I was supposed to get, I am considering enlisting in the Air Force for 4 years, get out, use my GI Bill, go to college, and then come back as an officer. The only AF jobs that are available to me, and the ones that I'm interested in, are (2T0X1) Traffic Management, (2T2X1) Air Transportation, and (4Y0X1) Dental Assistant. I was wondering if anyone in-the-know here can fill me in on these positions, maybe give some pros and cons. Also, is it worth keeping my car if I enlist or should I sell it? I know I probably won't need it if I get deployed, but then again I don't know if I'll be deploying whole lot with either of these …

I will be putting in my nav package in January...hoping to get a Strike Eagle slot. I will have 3 years active in January, and won't start UNT until May at the earliest. So, I wouldn't be at my first actual assignment until around Jan '08 at the earliest...making me a 2 year captain at that point. Will lack of flying hours affect career progression, and will it be harder to get selected for Weapons School?

Help me to understand why when we have a discussion that really does relate to military, flying, and world events, does it have to be locked? I am referring to the discussion on the muslim thing. Does anyone know what the latest change to the T-34 NATOPS manual is? I'm headed to VT-3 in a week (from API) and want to know if I need to add/delete/change anything on my flashcards. I have all changes up to Change 39 (Change 39!!! I guess they've never heard of a T.O. revision in the Navy). Also, anyone at VT-3 know how long the wait is after ground school? Our API class has been hearing a ton of rumors (varying from 4 up to 10 week wait rumors), but nothing 100% confirmed. Thanks for the help. [ 24. Family and I will be moving to Luke in August for F-16 B course and we’re need of some information on the local area; housing, things to do/not do, etc. Big thing is trying to figure out if we should do base housing or rent else where. Thanks in advanced.

Why do some ANG fighters have the tail flash, and not the 2-letter tailcode like some others have?
