I'm trying to establish a class bank account for our B-course class. I was wondering if anyone knows about the tax rules regarding such an account. I've already got an EIN number but am worried about tax-exempt status. I realize we can request exemption under 501c (19) status as a veteran's organization, but as the filing fee is 300 BUCKS!! I wanted to see if anyone else has tackled this before. Thanks in advance!

Mine....My 8th birthday...my dad and I were on the way home from my party when we see at the small county airport a big "Airshow" Banner. We pull in, park, and walk around for about a half hour to find the place pretty dull. So as we leave the parking lot and are on our way home, my dad out of nowhere slams on the breaks and points THROUGH the trees to a large aircraft headed to the airshow. He turns around and starts to head back to the airport (Exceeding the speed limit) . So we pull back into the parking lot, and jump into the bed of the truck and just watch the sky. about 30 seconds later a greenish "Bomber" Screams over the field turns and rolls. Car alarms are going…

Going to be leaving AETC and going to the real operational Air Force this year, and was wondering how difficult it is to take leave with constant missions. Especially in AMC where crews seem to be gone more than they're home. How difficult is it to grab a couple days of leave? A whole week? Does it routinely get canceled last minute for a mission? What if it's something I can forecast months in advance, does that help? Are any bases/MAJCOMs/airframes notoriously good or bad for this? Things like a wedding/honeymoon are on the horizon for me, and just looking for general info. Thanks in advance.

10 years ago this month (April 1-11) this happened. I work with the only AF guy on that plane (now a Capt) and he is a really cool guy. A couple of gee whiz stuff about that: The Chinese Pilot's name is Wang Wei which when pronounced sounds like wong way The pilot got a DFC for landing safely (and handing over tons of secretes to the Chinese) while the crew got AMs.

Dudes, Just got picked up for a 365 to Asscrackastan as a "Force Management Advisor". The RIP my commander handed me has no information other than an AFSC, date, and general location. (Afghanistan) Further information discovered that I would be an air advisor at Kabul, and some sort of Air advisor course at McGuire. Anyone done this before that can shed some light on the job? I have not signed the paperwork yet. Any tips from those who have been there as to potential "gotchas", or possible ways to leverage this into an assignment preference? Additionally, I have no clue of this will affect my gates or flight pay. Pretty much working in a vacuum here to make a deci…

I'm posting this for a good friend of mine who is a former Marine Cobra pilot. I don't know much about what the actual job entails other than it's an office job that pays 6 figures plus benefits. He specifically said they were looking for recently separated or retired AF Osprey pilots. If you're interested and/or want more info, drop me a private message and I'll pass along his contact info.

Found this on Fox News. A soldier in Iraq asked an online mattress company if they would sell them some floor mats so they would not have to sleep on the ground. The soldier got an insult in return. The company surely has been getting plenty of flack for the incident so they shut down their website. https://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,245718,00.html [ 23. I found an interesting article that shows the poor funding US has ran into for the fundings of the F-35 and F-22. It touches on how the F-16 and F-15's are in some situations not usable for battle and more than the "ok" amount would be lost. I find it interesting how it talks about we will fall below the estimated "safe" amount of fighter jets to have on hand around 2013. It also touches on how are goal of over 200 F-22's a year was cut short by the Bush administration because of the wars in the middle east. Idk... just check it out. Post your opinion. I'm interested on some outside opinions rather then of those in the article. https://www.airforce-magazine.com…

Back in the early 1980s, Air Force Chief of Staff Gen. Lew Allen, Jr. started a program called Project Warrior which aimed to reinvigorate the warfighting spirit within the Air Force. The program sought to shift the mindset from a business-like approach to a more mission-oriented, warfighting perspective. The objectives of Project Warrior were: 1) Enhance Warfighting Spirit by encouraging Air Force personnel to think and plan in warfighting terms; and 2) Improve Understanding of Airpower by fostering a deeper understanding of military strategy, tactics, and the role of airpower in modern warfare. The program was designed to be flexible, allowing unit…

We got the message today that officially the wing is planning on at least a 6 month slip to the closing timeline. There was a congressional policy letter that got forwarded to us a few weeks ago. It proposed a new study or something that would add 6 months onto the timeline for the closure. We still don't have any official word either way, but I wouldn't mind if we got extended for a bit!

This has been a debate among a few of us at work. We are trying to figure out what the hook,or circle, or whatever you want to call it is used for. If you have your MB-4 with the wind computation side up you have a circle-hook-thing that looks like it could be used for hanging the MB-4 up in the aircraft. Why you would do this I do not know, but some people say that is what it is for. Does anyone have any other idea what it is for or is it just something that has no purpose?

Hopefully, if you are searching for an answer to a question that you have you will find this thread. On the top of this webpage, which allows access to ALMOST every reg civilians should be allowed to view, you'll see a "Long Title" search. You can search the title of all the air Force regulations for what you're looking for. www.e-publishing.af.mil/ Good Luck! BENDY

LtGen AP Clark, instrumental in the Stalag Luft III breakout that inspired The Great Escape, and former Supt of USAFA, has died at age 96. He helped set up the POW archive at the USAFA library, and used to speak to cadets in History 330 pretty regularly. A Supt who Steve McQueen tried to be like. Here's a toast.
