  2. We've royally fucked up policing if a citizen exercising their constitutional rights can be considered probable cause, or a reasonable threat. Like I said before, cops need to understand that they are expected to be at a higher risk. This isn't Australia; the presence of a gun is not enough to deem a situation threatening.
  3. The DOJ will come in and conduct a "pattern of practices" investigation on the sheriff's department, much like what happened in Breonna Taylor's shooting.

  5. Guard members are not assigned staff tours in DC, or anywhere else besides your unit or state. There are plenty of people who volunteer for staff tours elsewhere, if one is interested. O-6 and up becomes quite competitive and might require you to take a non-flying job somewhere to achieve the rank, but if you just want to fly, plan on retiring as an O-5. And the absolute best part of the ANG, is being a DSG pilot you won’t even have any other squadron job other than pilot. Go fly at your airline, and go fly at your unit. Best of both worlds just being a pilot!
  6. They can also be an incredible ally in one of the hardest years of your life. Certainly I've seen them be a drain - and that couple usually ends up divorced. My wife of 20+ years was with me before and through UPT and she made my life during training infinitely easier and more comfortable. She also found a part time job so she wasn't cooped up in the house all day just waiting on formal release. To CaptainMorgan's point... we weren't complete newly weds and it would have been more shocking to go from honeymoon to UPT in days instead of months. That's fine. And I agree 100% - don't let your Tinder/Insta/Grindr/Bumble/Farmers Only flings distract you. But my only advice is don't be so closed minded that if the right one drops into your life that you ignore her for the wrong reasons.
  7. I’d say single, with the exception of students who’ve been married for a while and whose spouses have developed a good understanding of what the military lifestyle is like. Dragging a newlywed to Columbus, Vance, or Laughlin is a terrible idea. You’re going to be extremely busy, especially if your goal is to track T-38s and then get a fighter. She, on the other hand, is going to be extremely bored in a place with nothing to do, unless her job is portable. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  8. seen it work both ways. depends on the relationship.
  9. While I mentioned earlier that I didn’t like what I saw on the bodycam, and if he is fairly prosecuted, then I hope he goes to jail for a long time. But that all being said…what if the state comes back and determines it was a legitimate shoot and no prosecution? I don’t know the finer details of Florida laws, especially when it comes to when a police officer is allowed to use force. Again, I definitely didn’t like what I saw, but will people accept the officer not being charged, or if charged, found not guilty? I think for most people their minds have been made up, and that’s also not the best thing. At this point, we just need to let the process play out.

  11. kind of an abnormal post, but my question is, do you think people do better in UPT if single? I had a good talk with one of the MSGT's in my unit, and we were discussing what I wanted to do, and we both agreed that dating while trying to pursue a fighter slot should be something to shy away from because of how busy a fighter pilot's life can be. dont get me wrong. with all due respect, I love women and dream to start a family as well, but I do believe that they can distract you from your goals. as most of you know, the energy, money, and time spent on a significant other is enormous. I can't seem to shake the idea in my head of "how much better I could be doing without one while trying to pursue the slot," which is the reason I dont date.
  12. if you're a guard pilot, and reach lt col or higher, are you assigned staff jobs in DC, etc. like AD or are you allowed to just stay at your unit and continue flying. if memory serves correctly, in the guard, pilots fly the same amount no matter what rank meaning they don't have to deal with any non-flying assignments?
  13. Currently at UPT- Yes, I know a few people who have already done this. There was even a test run of a few studs who went to KC-135's and C-21's after skipping T-1's. It's mostly AFSOC that is taking advantage of this. They did it for about 6-8 classes in a row and have since paused the direct to FTU stuff.

  15. "The service has also begun reviewing training for the AC-130J Ghostrider, the Air Force’s newest gunship. It’s trying to fast-track special operations flight school by sending students straight to AFSOC training units after they earn their wings on the T-6 Texan II. That cuts out the intermediate phase of flying the T-1 Jayhawk, which is heading into retirement after serving as the stepping stone to mobility and special operations aircraft. That decision can shorten pilot training time by six months, AFSOC spokesperson Lt. Col. Becky Heyse said. Around 30 airmen are expected to go straight from undergraduate pilot training to AFSOC to learn to fly the U-28 Draco reconnaissance plane, the C-146 Wolfhound transport plane and the AC-130J gunship in fiscal 2024, Heyse said." https://www.airforcetimes.com/news/your-air-force/2023/09/19/old-is-new-again-as-air-force-special-ops-branch-revamps-training/ Is anyone able to confirm that heavy/AFSOC hires are skipping T1 and going straight to FTU?
  16. anyone who actually cares about this uses a trust anyways
  17. …and the White House offers their condolences. From the same county that just a few weeks ago launched a massive attack against our greatest ally in the region, and that we used our own military to stop. https://thehill.com/homenews/administration/4675189-us-offers-condolences-criticism-in-aftermath-of-iranian-presidents-death/?fbclid=IwZXh0bgNhZW0CMTEAAR1SB9nmEg7TYr6iGKPEonzgoSIObuhtM6bOKHH5DI5OFD0o8l5luHmOt7E_aem_AenWzSEhLKq6lwo0StfQZ0LPvtyV4TCgQm3gekjrKG0MCqF1i0_3GjlyS61y5SRkoTUqZLLwpOvuVMxMCitu8G9D
  18. Someone else mentioned it already, I just want him to go 180 out from current admin on the border. It's nuts. It's gone from the media after a couple weeks. Nothing has changed though.
  19. All props to the vaunted Mossad. Being able to manipulate weather and tectonic plates is a giant leap for the agency.
  20. He quit smoking tobacco... I have no doubt that he's still smoking, just switched to sulfur.
  21. Is it possible you just expect too much? What did he do that you're so upset about. You believe in a bunch of Russian conspiracy theories that the entire DOJ was unable to prove, despite very much wanting to. Is it just January 6th?
