I keep trying to tell you, THAT IS EXACTLY WHAT HAPPENED. Not only did they have their TERA rescinded, they had their RETIREMENT ORDERS rescinded. See below. Indeed. You are making a YUGE jump here. 1. I believe Roe V Wade ruling cost the GOP the mid-terms. I think most others would agree. Trump was able to overcome that in the last election. 2. I said the left would turn this into a dog whistle issue, I don't think it will be a deal breaker, just another chip at foundation like the Epstein Files. Things the GOP doesn't need to waste energy on right now. 3. My entire point of posting actually had nothing to do with politics, more about how we are treating some service members. Whatever you and everyone else's think about transgender, these folks did step forward to serve, were told one thing by the last administration and are now being punished by this administration. As a human it sucks. Big disclaimer here - my wife is a mental health professional. In the late 90's she did a fellowship as part of her follow on residency and certification. She picked a particular facility because it had a renowned drug dependency training program. By chance it also had a division that treated people before they transitioned. Six months go by and she tells me we are going to their Christmas party. I being the typical juvenile asshole made a joke and said "I am not going." After some harsh words I relented and I went to the party. We were at a table and they were all men dressed as women...I was dying inside. The "lady" sitting next to me was a bit older and we struck up a conversation. Turns out she was retired a USAF Colonel who flew F-4s in Vietnam. She even knew my pops. She was humble unassuming and other than the dress and make up, a regular person. When I got home I looked her up, she did indeed fly in Vietnam and earned a Silver Star and 4 DFCs. It really changed my perception. Like I said previously, I think transgenders in the military are a giant distraction and asking the government to pay for the surgery was out of bounds. But to screw around and take their retirement as part of a political witch hunt is complete bullshit, we are not supposed to treat servicemen and women like that.

My understanding of the article and some further reading on their website is that they used the most recent primary to come up with that number. Which is bizarre because over twice as many people voted in the 2024 Republican primary (2.3 million) than the Democratic one (982 thousand). Meanwhile, the Republicans haven't lost a statewide race in Texas since 1994 for the simple reason that there are more Republicans than Democrats in Texas. L2 needs to go back to the drawing board with this one.

I can't remember, can info given under safety privilege be used in criminal proceedings?
-
Turns out, when they say, "under Article 32 of the UCMJ, you have the right to remain silent.." it helps keep you from making a false official statement.
-
"Did you kill him?" "... yes." "Thank you for your honesty. I think that's about everything we had, you may go."
-
"the unidentified arrested person is accused of making a false official statement, obstruction of justice and involuntary manslaughter" As with most things, it is not answering the questions truthfully that is usually the problem.

I think this sentence out of the PDSM answers the question “The applicant’s Senior Rater is the nominating official (i.e., a wing commander or equivalent in a Senior Rater position)”. for example, you want to potentially get cgo of the quarter….just because you did some cool stuff in the quarter doesn’t mean you’re competitive to win that quarter. Your supervisor is going to use their discretion to determine if they’re going to submit a package for you. Same concept, if your sq/gp/wg doesn’t believe you’re competitive they don’t HAVE to submit or “nominate” you. I’m not saying it’s right but it’s how it works. Last year my WG/CC didn’t endorse my package because in his mind I didn’t have enough time in the career field or wasn’t close to the 2.5 year rated service commitment even though I was ranked 1/9 at my sq and then #2 at the group. My old Sq/CC tried to advocate for me the GP/CC tried and my new SQ/CC tried to advocate but nope. Did it suck? Yes but here I am a year later applying. #1 out the sq #1 out the gp…and no one knows where they ranked at the wg. So no there’s no reg that states they don’t have to push packages to the board if they don’t want to, but it’s common practice with any type of board.
-
This is along the lines of what I'm curious about. Us applicants never got eyes on anything other than the Boards selection criteria. Completely understand if Sq/Gp/Wg want to retain their members therefore use a different criteria than the Board but kinda backwards if you ask me. If Sq/Gp/Wg are only pushing packages with a certain score threshold, then why even submit a full package with accomplishments, accolades, letter of rec, etc to them. Wouldn't they just ask for aptitude scores instead? If the Board is looking to select those with the "whole-person" concept (which the AF embodied in most areas anyways), why limit the applicants being pushed to the Board solely based off of one area (scores). This is how beer goggles work.

Is there a reg out there that states sq/gp/wg leadership don’t have to push packages to the board if they don’t want to?

I don’t think it is what happened, at least using this article as a source. TERA approval authority is SAF (in this case). I understand this piece of journalism says at one point they “were initially approved,” but nobody below SAF has approval authority. I bet their misspeak/the truth is the members’ apps for TERA were concurred with at lower levels, but ultimately denied by SAF. Just like someone’s Palace Chase app being denied. They took their shot and didn’t get the outcome they wanted - sucks for them, but nothing wrong with it. Bottom line: Unless SAF approved TERA apps, then rescinded approval later on, there is no bullshit going on. So far, I’ve seen nothing that indicates SAF approved them ever. But, I agree it is bullshit if that is actually what happened (so far, no evidence of that…)

Hey man, like I said, if they had approvals and those approvals were taken away, that's bullshit. Regardless of the political issue. But I also don't think it's going to matter. I remember you were convinced that the Roe v Wade ruling was going to doom Republicans forever (hyperbole), but I think I was closer with my prediction to say that the issue will largely fall by the wayside because there's no longer a unifying narrative. But this issue is the opposite. The unifying narrative will either be "I just don't care about transgenderism enough to have a strong opinion," or more likely based on the insistence by progressives that we hear about this bullshit day in and day out, "sorry but the idea that a man could be a woman is so fucking stupid that I will act against the movement *if* I am forced to act." So yeah, I don't like it one little bit if they are backing out of promises just because the service member is a tranny. But the idea that this is going to radicalize anybody against the Republicans is misguided in my estimation. I believe the vast, vast, vast majority of Democrats are quietly relieved when they see someone else speaking against nearly every facet of the transgender issue. And they will vote accordingly and never admit it to anyone else.

I just spit out my coffee.....well played

That is precisely what happened to several members. Air Force Reverses Offer of Early Retirement for Transgender Troops I never said there was blanket approval, but ANYONE could apply. The memo specifically calls out transgender, it is targeted. I get it, but this was an easy off-ramp to a politically induced situation. Instead, we are kicking them where their nuts used to be and allowing it to be spun into another dog whistle issue by the left.

I’m seeing a lot of comments about PCSM and what the board looks for and etc…I do want to say that if you happen to make it to the board, you have just as equal of a chance to make it as the next person. With that being said…the more competitive you make yourself, the better chance you have of being picked up. Now if you’re already in the rated community, for example RPA it’s going to be tough, and the reason being is because of the standards at the sq/gp/wg. Each command is entitled to judge and rack and stack as they please. If they want you to have a specific PCSM before they push you then that’s their stipulation and if you want it bad enough then I know you have it in you to get the score required. Now, you could be the best in your career field….that doesn’t mean you’ll be a good manned pilot, or that doesn’t necessarily show leadership potential. Are you doing something different than what every other person is doing who is applying to this board. Are you making an impact outside of work? Are you talking about how great you’ve been in your current career field and that’s it? Remember, the Air Force is ALWAYS going to choose what’s best for the Air Force and if your desires and interests fit into what the Air Force needs AND wants, then you have a good shot at getting picked up. Lastly, I’ll say this, keep killing it and growing in whatever you are doing currently. If this path is meant for you, it’ll happen. I’m a believer in God and do believe in his will and timing. I’m applying this year and if it’s meant for me I’ll get it. And I truly believe the same for you. Whether it’s your first time applying or third…don’t get discouraged. Good luck to everyone !

Waived for TERA. Needs of the service were rebalancing more than LMs or their ADSCs. I was shocked, that guy was pleased to walk with TRICARE for Life, VA disability from working on SFS, and 2.5% of High-3 on ~15+ YAS.

Just from what I've seen and heard it seems to vary at each level if they'll push every competitive and qualified candidate or someone says while x candidates have a solid chance of being selected.... we're still gonna cut down to number y and if you arent one of the favorites... cyuh! I got shutdown at my sq last year then watched Lts from other sqs snag ENJJPT slots. Made for a slightly salty rest of my deployment. Fortunately, I wasnt in a dry country. In any case, I'm pressing as if im not selected. Board got pushed up this year, who is to say it won't happen again?
-
Sure. That's a "holy shit, the rabid tiger escaped it's enclosure and is about to pounce on a 3-year-old kid - shoot it!!" solution to a problem that was avoidable 10 minutes earlier with a simple 360 or a "no circle to 33 with a helo on route 4" mandate. There's lots of blame to pass around. But saying the solution lies in the last 30 seconds of the event is not very realistic.

Dozens.... ooooo. TX is hardcore. Wi had like 15K and they lost. Come on TX, protest as if your livelihood depended on on. If dozens is all you got, bow out and yield. Otherwise, mobilize that base and take a stand.
-
I'm confused on that topic though because the Gp pushes out guidance IAW the Board suspense (never got eyes on anything from the Wg down to the Gp) and down to the Sq but I've never seen anything where the RPA community has its own criteria. That doesn't make sense how we would be held/scored to a different standard than the board would. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
