  4. Stolen from social media... The NTSB held its second and final on scene media briefing regarding N722BD this afternoon. The agency says it recovered the aircraft’s left elevator in three pieces between 1.3 and 3.8 miles from the crash site. Most likely, it broke off at FL150-250 due to stress from the overspeed dive. ie, damaged during the dive, not damage that caused the dive. The following is from a pilot who flew the Lear 60 for over 15 years. "“We always fly in ridiculous cold temperatures.” “Usually you get the bad ice when the temperatures are like 0 to negative 20. Believe it or not, there's a point where it gets too cold for ice. At negative 40, you pretty much can't get ice. Besides that, the airplane is equipped with hot wings and hot tail.” “I flew the Lear 60 for like 15 years. It's a no joke airplane and probably the most dangerous airplane I've ever flown. It has a super critical wing. The airflow has to be perfect. When it gets into rough air and turbulence, it will easily stall. It has stalled on me at 41,000 feet just because we got into some turbulence. (On the way to Palm Beach as a matter of fact. ) we recovered and got her flying again around 30,000 ft. Scary But here's the problem. This airplane has a terrible coffin corner. (At high altitudes) what that means is, you fly in a really narrow window where if you lose 20 knots, it stalls. And if you gain 20 knots, it goes into overspeed. The air goes supersonic over the wing and it goes into a high speed stall, or worse, a Mach tuck. So if you stall, the normal recovery is to push the yoke forward to lower the nose and gain air speed again. At low altitude, you can push really hard and recover quickly. But in the 60... if you push hard, it will gain air speed and go into a high speed stall, it doesn't take much. It's very sensitive. The 60 has super short wings that don't make much lift. So then you high speed stall, and the computer is yelling at you... OVERSPEED! So then you pull back and enter a low speed stall. And you go back and forth trying to keep it in the air speed window. This whole thing is pretty scary. And you should recover basically by using your finger tips using super small corrections. You can't over do it. If you try to muscle the recovery, she gets mad and will become unrecoverable. If she enters a mach tuck. You're done.” “I taught the Lear 60 to other pilots and mentored them. I told them... this airplane has a soul and it's trying to kill you. Do not ever try to top the weather. Don't go over a thunderstorm. Go around it. If it means a half hour longer, then do it. Going over the thunderstorm will go into turbulence that you might not recover from. These pilots went right over a thunderstorm. I think it stalled which caused them to drop down into the thunderstorm and ended up in mach tuck. They picked up so much speed that it ripped off the horizontal stabilizer. At that point... chuck Yeager can't fix it. These same pilots did something similar a couple months ago. ATC got mad at them. They poked the bear one too many times. This is not a beginner airplane."
  5. And that’s how they’ll piss away ‘28. The Dems have a LOWER approval rating than the GOP. If the GOP can remake itself post-Trump…
  6. Yeah, that definitely sounds like wanting to work right away at getting cheaper gas lol
  7. Standby for left side gloating, a bunch of useless legal actions against Trump that will do absolutely nothing, and a worthless federal government with more attempts at DEI type BS, delayed military promotion boards, and absolutely no useful legislation passed for the next 2 years. So....ops normal. What's sincerely concerning is the El-Sayed win. THAT is the beginnings of how the USA becomes not the USA anymore. It was close. I'd love to see an audit of that vote to see exactly how it went down. Something like 11 of 83 counties in Michigan made that happen. Current stats say 2.5 mil to 2.1 mil is how he won...when there are over 8 million registered voters in Michigan. People need to get out and vote. The indifference of good people is how we lose America to Islam.
  8. I say this as the son of legal immigrants before anyone calls me a bigot: if you’ve visited Texas lately and seen the wave of immigrants, specifically from South Asian origin, and the influx of Muslims to that state, Talafreako winning makes more sense. What makes less sense to me is I’m pretty sure the Islamic religion frowns upon looking for group sex online and the belief that kids can change gender but stranger things have happened. Californians have this nasty habit of moving from their shithole state and voting the same policies that turned California into said shithole state. Hope you all enjoyed hearing the call to prayer downrange five times a day because that’s coming to a city near you.
  9. Govern from the center, govern well, don’t go on a revenge tour. 47 couldn’t handle that, hence the blue wave. The GOP will come back in ‘28 if the Dems take this as a mandate to do a bunch of weird stuff. This was a referendum on Trump, NOT a blue mandate. Closed primaries ensure we get the wildest candidates from both sides.
  10. This. There are so many midterms that seem absolutely seismic, like the 2014 repudiation of Obama, but the triumphant rush fades quickly and the back-and-forth continues. I am pretty stunned candidates like Talarico and El Sayed won so handily, but I guess that's life. The cost of living is terrible, the job market is terrible, and nobody seems to have any answers.
  11. Don't worry, the Dems will royally fuck up the next two years, leading to another flip.
  12. They don't want to stonewall him, they want retribution...They do nothing but impeach and investigate for the next two years as they have no plan (other than socialism). If the people want the DNC is charge, so be it but if they hate Trump so much they are choosing Socialism that is another story. If Abdul El-Sayed wins we have crossed a line, the voters will have selected a man with deep ties to the Muslim Brotherhood, a man who signed a letter urging Egyptian leadership to PURGE the press, and he campaigned with a man who said America had 9/11 coming to it. That is beyond hate of Trump, that is the end of a great 250 year experiment.
  13. Agree with you on the first part. If you look at 1990 to 1992, and 2006 to 2008, it didn’t matter that opposing party of the president had control of Congress…the party of the presidency still paid the price for the country not doing so hot. I think 2028 could be similar. And yep—Iran and the tariffs are what largely screwed everything up, but it was almost (if not all) self inflicted. In contrast I’d like to think the majority of the country doesn’t like what the Mamdani, AOC, or, Bernie Sanders types are pushing, but maybe I’m wrong and we’re at some sort of tipping point?
  14. I hope that happens too, the problem is trump still has two more years in office and all the dems have to do to look good now is stonewall him on everything as he flails around wildly in his lame duck era. So I doubt they'll go into 2028 with any less momentum than they have now. But more broadly this is the biggest reversal I've seen in my lifetime from one party winning in a historic fashion across all branches of government with a clear mandate.. to an absolute bloodbath two years later. Exit polls show the Iran war was a huge driver of this bloodbath and I think history will show this was the decision that did more to torpedo trumps presidency than anything else. Now I can only hope he will get as few of us as possible killed in the remaining time he tries to fumblefuck his way out of it.
  15. There's still some lower profile races yet to be called but it looks like next January the only Republican holding statewide office in Texas will be Ted Cruz.
  16. If this opens the door for the Massie and Rand Paul types to take over, then it would almost be worth it. Sadly I don’t think it will happen.
  17. Don't worry guys I have it on good authority Iran was 2 weeks away from nuking the conus so it was all worth it
  18. republicans are an excellent minority party, but a terrible ruling party. the amount of self ownage trump has done this term is shocking. they deserve this.
  19. Pubs will distance themselves from Trump and MAGA.
  20. Yep—they’re getting destroyed. Be interesting to see what the next 2 years look like.
