  2. I’d love to see Iran get back to being a more free society where human rights are recognized and respected. I was a kid in early 1971 when my family (father worked for a relief NGO) was evacuated from East Pakistan (Bangladesh); we stayed in Tehran with a USAF SMsgt’s family who hosted us for 2 weeks waiting for my older brothers to get out of West Pakistan (they were in boarding school). My parents have pictures from our time there and it was modern, clean and open. I remember the stark contrast of 3rd world where we lived in Dhaka to a modern and clean Tehran. It’s sad that the people have been so controlled for so long. I wish them the best, but it’s going to be a rough ride for them regardless if they topple the mullahs or not. 45 years plus of essentially no say in their leadership or what form of governance they have.

  4. Iran is not Afghanistan, when Khomeini came to power, he had overwhelming support of Iranian college educated young women who believed him. Sound familiar? Back in the 70s I had a discussion with my cousin who was a young female at the time who supported Khomeini who just dismissed me. Sound familiar again. Before this under the Shah it was progressive secular society. The Shah's secret police were heavy handed with the Islamists who wanted a theocracy and our own CIA didn't make many friends due to us wanting to keep our listening stations along the shared border with USSR. Maybe this time we can get it right.
  5. Just to clarify…..yes they have a ton of oil. But…..that oil is dog shit and only a few refineries in the us can process it. It’s worse than Canadian tar sand oil. cheap oil isn’t good for the oil industry. Just last yr chevron canned 7k ppl in Houston. The projections for 2026 aren’t great either.
  6. Nope, but I did talk to my first sergeant and my commander today and I told him that I was going to send the board an email asking if there was any indication as to when we would start seeing anything but my commander told me that he’ll reach out. I was also told by one of my other friends who got picked up that we will potentially start hearing stuff by the end of the week, but I just don’t think it’s cool to have people waiting this long when there are people who have families and need to start planning to make sure their family is going to be set up.

  11. Appears to be all internal and organic at this point (I am not naive to think CIA and Mossad haven't been helping), but Israeli leadership just approved an attack on the IRGC...would prefer they stay out of it.
  12. I think I'll wait to see who follows before getting interested. Egypt, Libya, Syria, Afghanistan... It's not an easy region to reform. The Iranian threat is what made the Abraham accords possible. I wonder if the Middle East can unify without a central bad guy to align against.

They can have him! Lagway's a quitter who didn't like how Sumrall was challenging his desire to play and commitment to the team. Now we know Sumrall was right! Lagway dealt with multiple injuries (sports hernia surgery, shoulder issues, calf strain), threw 14 interceptions in 2025 and struggled with consistency. Adios!
  16. I saw a really nice throw of a Molotov Cocktail. Maybe bring him over on a football or baseball scholarship.
  17. I hear ya, I’m apprehensive about kinetic and boots on the ground but i agree with @Lord Ratner that we can control immigration especially in the case of Cuba as it is an island just far enough to control maritime outflows attempting to land in the USA and our maritime forces would operate out of the USA. This administration would also not implement a policy regarding asylum seekers from a newly liberated Cuba that would release first process later ala previous administrations (Democratic and Republican, the corporate globalists wings of both parties). I’m sure there would be risk but I’m confident a stabilization mission after a negotiated end to Communist Party rule could be done at an acceptable risk. Quarantine the island, marshal forces, apply diplomatic pressure, offer generous aid to the Cuban people, amnesty for former regime officials and safe passage for those who would be targeted in the new Cuba but testimony first in a truth and reconciliation commission, etc… I’m not for adventurism or naive idealistic nation building in totally alien societies but in this case, in our neighborhood, with a nation with have connection with, I think we should.
  18. We've already proven that immigration to the United States is not something controlled by the migrant. It looks like the administration is already gearing up to send the TPS Venezuelans back to Venezuela, and if they stick to it then overthrowing a hostile regime will be yet another excuse removed from the asylum-for-everyone crowd. We spent so many decades being lied to about the illegal immigration situation that it now seems almost inconceivable that there was never a legitimate excuse or cause for it in the first place.

  21. We've never actually overtly tried with Cuba. Bay of pigs was supposed to be hush-hush and deniable. This administration doesn't do anything hush-hush. Cuba would, however be an absolute mess in the aftermath...just like Venezuela is likely to be. Just imagine the post regime celebration that would turn almost immediately to immigration to the USA.
  22. Coming from the rated community, it will be extremely competitive. Also, depending on which base you’re at can make it more competitive too. I’m going to be honest, having a 70 PCSM is going to be tough to get a good Strat or even an endorsement to submit. The people I went up against were all in the 90’s with their PCSM. I had a 98 PCSM and was able to get stratted #1 out of sq/gp/wg because of my prior enlisted experience and a good chunk of other things I’ve done. There was someone with a 99 PCSM but not the same experience. I won’t put on Capt until 27. Send me a message on here and I’ll help any way I can. But I would suggest looking at getting those rated scores up.
  23. I’m applying to UFT cross flow for UPT this year. Different path for me…was enlisted for 6 years as MQ-9 evaluator sensor operator, now commissioned, been an MQ-9 pilot and I’m an Evaluator, as a 1Lt. I don’t put in Capt until September of this year. My experience came sooner because of some Vol1 stuff, but worked my butt off to become an IP very quickly and later a DI and now Evaluator. Currently, I’m our squadron’s Chief of Safety and went through safety school last year. Hoping to get picked up this year. My AFOQT pilot 86 and PCSM 70. I’m hoping with a good LOR and how well my career has gone, I might have a shot. I’m 31, won’t need any waivers for anything. Good luck to people applying this year.
  24. would be fantastic if true!
  25. Concur, in our backyard I’d like us to start making offers that can’t be refused; offering a better deal than the Chinese or Europeans can offer. Basically plugged into our security, intel, economic / finance, tech system with access to visas and fair trade based on compliance with treaties, agreements, etc… you remain a sovereign country but we are friends with benefits now. Cuba could get a nice off ramp from the rogue nation highway in this instance
  26. From my listening over the last year or two sparingly, he's just not a very informed guy.
  27. Wake me up when they actually pull it off. This has happened how many times now? If Khomeini hasn't had plans ready for decades I'd be very surprised.
  28. While the news has been covering Venezuela Iran is in the middle of a revolution regime change. Reports indicate Khamenei plans exit to Moscow.
  29. It would be quite refreshing if the United States reasserted control over the Americas. I know the fashionably isolationist wing of the Republican party is going to hate this, but they've gotten to live in a fantasy world that we built after 50 years of interventionism between the end of world War II and the fall of the Berlin Wall. After 30 years of neglect, it appears we must once again participate in the game of thrones.
  30. Shawn is no angel...I wanted to puke when I watched his video about owning your Sh*t. He let his buddy Eric Prince go on his show and tell outright LIES about AFSOC..."Gunships refused to fly during the day" and refuses to correct the record. Shawn is indignant only when convenient.
  31. So here’s my Venezuela prediction… Now I’m thinking about Cuba… as is SECSTATE Rubio BreitbartRubio: Cuban Government Is 'in a Lot of Trouble'Sunday on NBC's "Meet the Press," Secretary of State Marco Rubio said the leaders in Cuba were in a lot of trouble when asked about potential military actions. | ClipsThis thread is about putting it out there sts so… I’m gonna say Cuba gets defensive and survives (hopefully lightning strikes twice like my original Venezuelan prediction) but the Cuban regime has survived a lot and is frustratingly durable Thoughts?
