  2. Appropriate for this Memorial Day... World War II Bomber Crash Left 11 Dead. Four Are Finally Coming Home. As the World War II bomber Heaven Can Wait was hit by enemy fire off the Pacific island of New Guinea on March 11, 1944, the co-pilot managed a final salute to flyers in an adjacent plane before crashing into the water. All 11 men aboard were killed. Their remains, deep below the vast sea, were designated as non-recoverable. Yet four crew members’ remains are beginning to return to their hometowns after a remarkable investigation by family members and a recovery mission involving elite Navy divers who descended 200 feet (61 meters) in a pressurized bell to reach the sea floor. Staff Sgt. Eugene Darrigan, the crew’s radio operator, was buried with military honors and community support on Saturday in his hometown of Wappingers Falls, New York, more than eight decades after leaving behind his wife and baby son. The plane’s bombardier, 2nd Lt. Thomas Kelly, was to be buried Monday in Livermore, California, where he grew up in a ranching family. The remains of the pilot, 1st Lt. Herbert Tennyson, and navigator, 2nd Lt. Donald Sheppick, will be interred in the coming months. The ceremonies are happening 12 years after one of Kelly’s relatives, Scott Althaus, set out to solve the mystery of where exactly the plane went down... (Full story at the title link)

  4. aka even more so the t-38 bubbas are the only real, historically tested pilots
  5. If it’s in good faith (you’re trying, just T-38s/fighters aren’t in your cards), the unit will generally try to help a guy find a heavy unit willing to take them. This usually works out. If its SIE, then the unit can retain you in another career field, release you, or see if there’s another unit who wants to take you for a non-rated job.

    Gun Talk

Man, that's some serious stupidity there. First of all, carrying a gun in the back pocket of your jeans and obviously sticking out enough for someone to not only see it but easily grab it? And then following that person when they are now armed and you're not? The dude gave enough intent by shoving him and pointing the gun at him to show he obviously wasn't giving it back. Call it a lesson learned and move on.
  7. Hello to all, I was talking with a friend who brought up a valid point, at least to my untrained civilian brain, of what would happen if you are hired by a unit, specifically if you are hired by a fighter unit and you cannot mentally make the cut. Reasons such as motion sickness, not liking pulling G's, etc, what happens if someone gets into training, was hired by a fighter unit and the candidate says "I cannot do this, I am not for this job?" I saw one current HC-130J pilot who was hired by an A-10 unit had something come up to where this was a decision he made to leave fighter training, but that is my only data point. -RANDOM

Shot it again, pulled the jank dot plate off and just went irons. 2 inches at 7 yards. So not great, but better than before.
  10. I’ve been doing a lot of reading/listening/watching content discussing the science of manipulating people’s brains to create “social mania”. In the last 10-15 years there have been countless examples of the herd believing and amplifying whatever the new mania is overnight. Some examples being the #metoo movement, BLM, systemic racism, Covid lockdowns, Nazi’s, trans, Biden’s cognitive ability, Russia Russia Russia, etc. It really is fascinating to read how the media and politicians exploit the natural instincts in human beings to fear things and in turn negatively react to emotional stimulus. It is pure propaganda and it is extremely effective. Dan Crenshaw (who I don’t care for) did a podcast with Arthur C Brooks about it. I’ve linked it below. It’s a fantastic listen and worth the hour and a half of your time. Lionel Shriver has written extensively about this as well. I’ve posted a link to one of her articles. The problem is, there are real negative effects on our society and how we interact with each other. Police officers have been killed due to policing hoaxes, 2 people were just shot and killed in DC by a guy shouting Free Palestine, Trump was nearly assassinated, etc. The endless race hysteria has created “black fatigue” which hurts race relations. At the very least, this mess puts people in boxes and those that believe the hysteria rarely, if ever admit they fell for the hoax. “a social frenzy seldom subsides because its agitators announce they were addled, just as the masses of ordinary people caught up in the derangement seldom acknowledge having been led astray. Everyone simply moves on, only to become consumed by something else.” - Lionel Shriver. We see this time and time again with people on this very board. People leave or never post again rather than admit they were wrong. Those that stay, often double or triple down on their opinions even when faced with the eventual historical truth. https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/hold-these-truths-with-dan-crenshaw/id1498149200?i=1000634300667 https://unherd.com/2024/04/how-to-spot-the-next-mania/

  13. No-one has to. It's obvious at this point. If whatever media you choose is headlining something that rhymes with "fine people on both sides", it's 99% certainty that checking the surrounding two minutes or less of tape will yield the polar opposite of the narrative being peddled.
  14. Ahhh, that makes a lot more sense.
  15. no one said that, the T-38 is treated as a drop now, they'll get a second one upon -38 completion.
  16. So these are FAIP awards going to the T-38...before they've ever flown a T-38. Bold move, Cotton
  17. More recycled tripe to support your hate of the Orange man because you can;t find an original argument. I know your side bathes in fake news but made once try some intellectual honesty. For the record In 2014 alone 5 out of the 14 casinos in the city went out of business. Additionally, casinos fail and go bankrupt ALL THE TIME: Station Casinos (Las Vegas): Filed for bankruptcy and emerged after debt restructuring. Riviera (Las Vegas): Bankrupted multiple times before being demolished. Caesars Entertainment (International): Went through bankruptcy and debt restructuring. Revel (Atlantic City): Filed for bankruptcy.
  18. Not required, it was crystal clear what he was talking about for anyone who has the capacity to listen.
  19. Please, don't make him correct right after I responded. Self righteous Christians are just as obnoxious as self righteous atheists.
  20. seems there's just one God that the world uses to denominate the passing of years, decades, and centuries since his Son was born. Funny. literally historical
  21. Oh this is an atheism thread now? In human history there have been somewhere on the order of 3,000 gods in mainstream religions. You guys believe in one god, which means you do not believe in 2,999 others. What’s one more? It is actually obvious that we are all atheists. We just believe in one fewer god than you do. When you understand why you dismiss all the other possible gods, you will understand why we dismiss yours.

  23. Oh there are plenty of other reasons to be embarrassed to be an "atheist".
  24. Not surprised Trump/staff would do this. All part of just saying shit because enough believe him regardless. I can't wait for oval smack downs on chem trails, lizard people, and flat earth shit. https://www.reuters.com/world/africa/trumps-image-dead-white-farmers-came-reuters-footage-congo-not-south-africa-2025-05-22/
  25. You posted a thought-out explanation of what Trump was trying to convey. Nice analysis, you put some thoughts into it. Since you seem to good at this type of work, maybe you should stand next to him and do it live. Get it? And yes, I think there is noticeable cognitive decline too.
  26. Oh God please don't add bitter atheist to your already tiresome persona. Guys like you are the only thing that make being an atheist embarrassing.
  27. Wait so is your argument now that it's cognitive decline similar to Biden, or that he's just lying during a speech? If it's the latter pardon me for being bored by something that every politician from Thomas Jefferson to Trump has engaged in rather enthusiastically.
