  1. Past hour
  2. One of my last CC calls was pretty gnarly. We all got introduced to a new transexual squadron member. He/she was probably the worst pilot I ever flew with.
  3. Finally, a post under 690 words.
  4. What commander's call isn't a huge waste of time, yet they still continue to happen? Not saying this was cost effective, but when has that mattered in the DoD/DoW? I recognized an Army four star in attendance who retired the next day. Not judging, just some observations...and honestly it's not worth debating!
  5. Sure. You're a bad-faith debate participant who's gotten addicted to political news theater. Even Boomer could keep focused long enough to read that.

But still powerful enough to kill. My grandfather carried an M1 Carbine across the pacific and won a battlefield commission. Old school deployments...he left in 1942 and came home in 1946. He said he liked it because it was light and maneuverable in the jungle. Ammo was light and he carried a lot of extra rounds and his 1911 for backup. Break Break - the ATF is in another big fight.
  9. You said who your barometer was and I said who mine was. Simple as that. Until we're in WWIII we'll never know if any Sec Def would have matched up to CoS Marshall. Nice try though. Having political arguments with ppl butt hurt over who's in office so they come to the internet for "wins" isn't my idea of healthy living.
  10. @ClearedHot Miami is good. Congrats.
  11. We get that you don’t like the guy. But from what I’ve seen and heard, you are in the minority. And I don’t want leadership from an email. It’s much more effective when it’s face-to-face. Just because you are on a video, doesn’t mean you are paying attention. No distractions in that big auditorium. 12. Bud, I think you just painted yourself into a corner. Are you saying Pete is just as good as Marshall? You think Marshall would agree? Marshall, the seasoned statesman and professional soldier vs Hesgeth? BTW, Marshall would be a great example for any of Trump's cabinet to follow. Trump too.
  13. Another great day off football. Penn State...wow. A win-less UCLA goes up 20 on the Lions who were pre-game 24.5 point favorites to win. Penn State did come roaring back but fell short showing their high ranking was a lot of hype. The Alumni already wants Franklin gone. One of my best friends is a two time Penn State grad and she sent me some of the stuff off the alumni page last night, absolutely brutal. Florida SOUNDLY beat Texas...a few takeaways from my end: 1. Arch Manning is not all that and a bag of chips. Dude is being paid a lot of money because of his DNA when his progressions, decision making and ball throwing are better suited for a JUCKO right now. 2. Florida has heart and talent. I sent @M2 a note as the game was winding down...I am glad that is not the team that showed up to play Miami. Miami vs FSU - Miami in my opinion is the most complete team out there but they have things to fix and it starts with the coach. Up 28-3 against a team like FSU you don't take your foot off the gas and let them back in the game. He did it last year and did it again last night. FSU - wow...that team played with grit and heart in the second half. I don't care for all the social media play (by either team), and I think Castellanos gives opponents things to hang on the locker room wall and motivate them. That being said, that kid can ball. Some of his passes, especially while on the run, were lights out. One more week of at large play before the conferences start to eat each other. Ole Miss being the highest ranked SEC team has a TOUGH schedule with Georgia, Oklahoma, South Carolina and Florida.
  14. George Marshall would have, that's the barometer I use.
  15. Mattis probably wouldn't have done it this way. That is my barometer for how a SecDef should conduct and perform.
  16. Regardless of the outcome of the Miami v FSU game it was poignant that their pre-game hype men were a murderer and a sexual predator 🙃
  17. I've got one, and honestly the only reason I feel comfortable with the thing is because the bullets it uses are such low power rounds. It's strange feeling how much less... sturdy... a gun from that era feels. But then again they were just being smashed out by every factory that could produce them.

Anyone have a Universal M1 carbine? I picked one up, took it apart and it seems fine (e.g. safe to shoot). I wanted to see if anyone has experience with one (things to look for, gotchas, etc.)
  21. I don't think this is a conspiracy thing at all. Our comm has been compromised time and again, if not directly via actors in foreign countries then via ppl like Snowden. This seems like a great cover for passing high level info, while also publicly providing expectations face to face. Seems fairly logical to me. Even if it was just to give direction, then an in-person brief is definitely justified. The liberals/fat retired nonners are butt hurt, sucks to suck. If Panetta had done this to provide direction on Dont Ask Don't Tell repeal it would have been justified and ppl like Rainman woulda lost their shit whilst NSAPlayer threw a rainbow party...RIP
  22. Anyone using ID.ME and AMEX offers? ID.ME has provided me great deals on: NFL Sunday Ticket: $198 Google Store devices Apple Store devices Sony Bravia Theater Quad wireless speakers & subwoofer for my Sony tv Netgear WiFi routers I always use SheerID for Nike discounts
  23. And? One other point; nothing says sincerity/seriousness like the face-to-face interaction. Rather reinforces the point of the new sheriff in town operates differently so get on board or get out. Also, generals work for SECDEF & POTUS. If those offices chose to call generals in, said generals respond with "yes, sir." Pretty standard, I'd say. A maybe conspiracy thing is that this meeting was a cover for another purpose regarding upcoming actions.
  24. I suppose my view of this event comes from an interaction I had with a 4 Star. I was worker bee end on a conference we were producing with other Gens, etc. Boss leans in and asks my boss, "What decisions will we be making? (Rest is paraphrasing) If we're calling in a bunch of Gens, we better be making productive decisions otherwise it's just a big waste. One way speeches are pretty much that. Now if the crowd got to stand up and ask good, hard questions, that changes my opinion, unless said Qs are planted softballs. But for that to happen, the doors probably needed to close and the TV cameras turned off. And there goes that big beautiful production for the world to see. Lastly, in the whole world of policy changes, to include stuff like don't ask, don't tell, to, ok, now you can tell, or women in combat, etc., has there been a briefing like this to convey those policies? Nope, a letter is ginned up, signed, maybe a press conference, and sent out.
  25. I simply thank my God that there is someone to be my moral and wisdom mentor posting here. Also: US Special Operations Command general retires As he's been there since 2022, simply a routine retirement. But still another one gone.
  26. - It’s one TDY added to a list of many. Bottom line, why are you against a TDY added amongst a sea of executed/scheduled TDYs? It’s not whataboutism to state a fact that a large portion of the military adds TDYs throughout the year. If you want to argue about justification or perceived importance/utility of any TDY, then you are very inexperienced in the military/have no idea how the gov operates with regards to in-person vs. virtual application. Example: I’ve spent many TDYs watching GOs (also TDY) sit there and stare at their eyelids/the wall for days, while adding nothing to the situation and based on their reactions, taking nothing home with them. Welcome to the real world. (Experience I’m coming from: over 100 TDYs at tac/op/strat levels). - The boss is pushing a massive cultural shift, that has seen some resistance, and he’s sick of the resistance. Do you believe something of that high of priority to him does not warrant in-person interaction? Some comments above can be boiled down to, “this isn’t a big deal and therefore could have been an email/TEAMs call.” Do you believe from the boss’s perspective this “isn’t that big of a deal” and an email/TEAMs call is all he needs to do to get this train on the right track? People are bringing up “justification” of TDY, citing the topic as “not justifiable” for a TDY. They brought that up, it is not a red herring to discuss what they previously stated. - Some literally said it could have been a virtual discussion (email, TEAMs, YouTube, etc.) Is there a third option besides one of those or in-person? Because if there’s not (I can’t think of one), it can’t be a false dilemma because it is literally a dilemma (boss had to ask himself, “do I do this in person or virtual? Which one will be most effective for my directives/message?”) Ad hominem - I’ll take that one, my bad.
