  1. What’s a good age to start the weezing on lap 4? Asking for a friend....

  3. So can you now 3 day opt all 365 deployments within 4 years of your ADSC, since the return requal will trigger this new ADSC which will put you beyond your UPT commitment?

  4. I'm probably missing the gist of what you're trying to say... But barring an injury, if Airmen show up to the PT test and find it high threat and stressful, then they are the problem. The AF standards are about as minimal as it gets. Watching 20-somethings weezing on lap 4 of the 1.5 mile run is pathetic.

  5. I hope this is true! Nothing yells buffoonery like allowing in house flight evaluations to see if you’re safe to fly a multi million dollar airplane, but have a “fitness cell” at each base to administer PT tests because they don’t trust commanders.

  6. I'm surprised that nobody has copypasta'd the post the DO of the CAF unit involved made on the day after the accident.

  7. I consistently score around 90 and have never failed a PT test. I get nervous before every single one. There is no other measure that has so much ability to impact someone's career. I know people who have failed a PT test ten years ago who were then prevented from going to WIC. Meanwhile, I know people who had run-ins with the law who were still allowed to apply. Even if it's something you can do in your sleep, the stress of knowing every test could end your career is still present and significant.

  8. Say you’re going to sign, get a free trip to STL, then right before signing tell The Bobs that you’ve changed your mind for needs of the family and don’t sign. They can understand need changes. Make a note of any CC who gets upset with you so once you’re flying with the majors, you can help blacklist them.

  9. You do you, boo. I've had 2 back surgeries, crushed disc at 19 and then a bone spur compressing the sciatic nerve at 35. I got addicted to narcotics to deal with the pain while the AF figured it out. PSA - Withdrawals suck. Now I've got bone spurs in both heels that look like eagle talons on the x-ray. I've never failed a PT test, but I've come close. I can't depend on my body to not fuck itself. I also carry all of my weight in the midsection, so the tape is a constant struggle. Every time I get to a place I consider acceptable for PT another part breaks. I do what I can, track food, diet...workout as directed by the medical hobby shop. The stress that hits me for PT testing is unlike anything else I've ever done (CDC or promotion testing enlisted, undergrad/grad classes, alone with SrA Hotness, etc.).

  10. Some of the regionals will likely pick you up without an interview. Depending on your previous quals, chances are you'll spend less than a year at one before being picked up at a major/cargo carrier. I was not out of the cockpit, but the majors weren't hiring yet and I needed total time...going to the regional is one of the best things I've ever done. Best of luck! Not sure if it's related but in the last two days, I had a few of my AD buddies (who I thought wouldn't get out) reach out to me about the ANG/Airlines. Sounds like this change to the AFI is making the rounds pretty quickly.

  11. Even worse a short notice 179 where the pilot can’t get fully current before leaving, like AR currency in the jet. Come back unqual and have to sign a 3year commitment to get flying again

  12. If a Q3-led in-house requal leads to an ADSC, this will put a huge pressure on pilots, CCs, and evaluators alike. Can you imagine being the evaluator with your hands tied, knowing your decision could potentially affect a pilot's life for years and cost him millions of dollars? I've seen Big Blue do some stupid shit, but this is next level.

  13. Plot twist, but Bendy isn't normally drunk. That's just his diva side coming out of the shadows.

  14. So the ability to get off the track that requires you to compete for leadership opportunities is only offered to the people who have secured leadership opportunities? Ah well...maybe enough HPOs will take the bait so some of the more rational types in the other 90% of the Air Force can become commanders.

  16. Good point - here's a few other situations I thought of that are sure to cause grief if an in-house requal costs 3 years: 1) MWS pilot gets tagged for non flying 179 or 365. The only way to insure yourself is to take an I/Q checkride right before you leave, so when you come back you aren't unqualified, just non current. That does take sq/cc approval for an out of zone check, and given what I've read in other threads about some sq/CCs, that may be easier said than done. I don't think that would work for your Cessna problem though, because once you get the qual in the Cessna, it voids your previous MWS qual, no matter how current the form 8 (no dual qual for the average joe) 2) MWS female pilot gets pregnant - during her DNIF period, her checkride expires. So does she pick up 3 years just to requal once she pickles? (This can also expand to any pilot who has a long term DNIF) 3) MWS pilot gets a Q3 and is directed to fly X sorties/sims before refly - does this count as an in house requal? Again, who is gonna track down every "RQ INST/QUAL" form 8 and attach an adsc, I have no idea. But it seems like the AF didn't think this one all the way through (shocking). It used to be clear that they were picking and choosing what they wanted to follow - now they just muddied up the waters.

  17. Wouldn’t be an aviation forum without people going full rage mode with notional or incomplete data.

  20. I'll let others chime in, but trust me, CRM and rapid accumulation of flight hours are both "things" in the bomber community. I'm a Reserve bomber WSO; feel free to PM me if you want to know about the units at Barksdale. (FYSA: You've got 2 AFRC B-52 squadrons at KBAD, 1 AFRC B-1 squadron at KDYS, an ANG B-2 unit at Whiteman, and rumor has it they may start an AFRC B-1 unit at Ellsworth in the next few years...)
