  8. I'm giving an update in regards to the flight time used for the TBAS: I emailed AFPC.PCSM@us.af.mil and asked the question about flight hours. They responded rather quickly with " You are allowed to count PIC and Instructional hours." They noticed the error of only PIC time being used and adjusted my flight time from 165 to my 203 total time. My PCSM was bumped from a 95 to a 97. Keep this in mind for you past or future TBAS test takers and verify that the correct flight time is being used.

  10. Ah, perfect. This is where we transition to the next phase of this annual conversation. MWS IPs require far less skill and instructional aptitude than UPT IPs. It adds a few hundred thousand pounds to the takeoff weight.

  11. THIS. Lots and lots of this. When we hire guys you are either a previous fighter guy (11F AFSC at some point in your career) or you aren't. A 5 year C-5 guy would be on the same board as a civilian off the street.

  16. Your PCSM score is a 95 without any flight time being factored in? That's even possible with PCSM 2.0?! EDIT: I'm dumb, I didn't read your original post very well. I'm guessing you have a bunch of PIC time from solo flying towards your PPL and from flying after acquiring your PPL and that time is being counted, and the currently not counted dual instruction time is a relatively small chunk of your overall time.

  17. We're back to the annual T-1/T-38 dick measuring. Having flown both aircraft there's no argument that the T-38 requires more stick and rudder skills, but that wasn't the point of the T-1. FWIW, this disagreement will be moot in the next decade though because there will be another T-X buy to replace the T-1 and we're going back to Generalized UPT (GUPT). That's the official name. After T-6s some guys will go to Rucker but after that there will be an advanced phase track select.

  19. Airline IT is stuck in the late 70s/early 80s. After being at AA for almost 3 years, I can say without a doubt the only reason this shit show doesn't implode is because of the Capt and FO. These companies are not going to outlay the capital to make any improvements which would allow single pilot or autonomous. Possible in a Utopia...sure. Just not in this fucking world.

  20. No, they're not going to waste a 38 spot on you just because you're an "overachiever," especially when Blue needs all the 11Fs they can build. Go apply at a fighter unit if you want to fly 38s. Bonus: You won't have to work with underachievers.

  21. I laugh quite a bit every time I hear AF "pilot shortage". There is no shortage of pilots wanting to fly planes in the AF. There's a shortage of the AF placing those pilots in jobs that allow them to be pilots, and to teach other pilots. There's plenty of bag wearers sitting at group level positions, in staff jobs, at IDE, etc staring at a computer screen. I've flown less than 200 hours a year the last 3 years as an experienced MWS instructor because the AF values keeping the self fellating bureaucratic process running more that it values flight experience. Senior Capts and junior majors are begging to be 'allowed' to get back to teaching the young pilots, only to be told that they're more valued behind a desk. No thanks, see ya, welcome aboard Delta 4962, non stop to Chicago.
