You won't remember what the big deal was two weeks into your first deployment. Two months into said deployment, you'll stay on the boom while using a piddle-pack.

2. I think the point where you realize you've finally got it is when you and the boomer are showing porn back and forth while bullshitting...wait that's unprofessional...yeah, that never happens...nevermind,nothing to see here.

  • We have helicopters?

  • First off, this is an ACSC paper. C'mon, how often do those get any traction? Second, agree with Brother Brabus-Johnson: you'll get your AR intro in the B-course (MQT often enough). You won't remem

You forgot...at night, lights out, on the goggles and in the weather.

After the AF consolidates nav training at Pcola, the Navy is getting rid of the T-39s; to replace the training radars they are using virtual A/A and A/G radar in the T-45s: Press Release including the ability to fight another aircraft w/datalink off of TCAS etc or a ghost operated by a ground instructor; the A/G simulator pulling in a terrain database and GPS to generate a ground map.

Don't know how well this will work since part of the WSO training was learning how to deal with a real-world flaky radar instead of the predictable returns from the sim.

Before I left Kingsville for Oceana, there was an AF guy hanging out around VT-22 logging a bunch of back seat time in our A/G and A/A events in order to evaluate the feasibility of using the T-45 for the Air Force.

I call BS. That would require the AF to admit, even if only on a minor point, that they were wrong to pass on the T-45. AF leadership would rather put out a burning oil well with their own face than ever do this.

I predict us buying used T-50s from the DAKs before the first T-45 says USAF on the side.

Accidentally repped you when I thought that was the quote button. FML.

I'm not saying that is what is going to happen, just reporting what had occurred earlier this year. I have no dog in this fight.

All sarcasm. No idea and barely care.

Northrop's in the game.

Northrop revealed it has been secretly building a new jet in a Mojave Desert aircraft hangar. Northrop executives believe the new clean sheet design, or purpose-built aircraft, will better suit the Air Force’s parameters for the new jet trainer.

“Our goal is not to win with a certain solution, our goal is to win with what the Air Force wants,” said Marc Lindsley, Northrop Grumman T-X director of programs.

Is it sad that when I look at this I immediately think they'll lose because the AF never knows what it wants. The better strategy would be to give a general a handjob in the bathroom just before the decision.

All I ask for is good RCP vis. I think all the proposed variants have better RCP ergonomics. Anything would be better than what we got right now. Oh, and more wing, we need more wing. :D

The old girl has done her job way past her shelf life, it's time to move on though.

Just wait.... Coming in 2017: "We must retire the T-6 this year to pay for the new trainer!". " If you talk about the T-6 to congress you're a traitor!". "The T-6 accounts for 25% of all hard landings in the AF, it has to go!".

I heard the F-35 was going to replace all our trainers

FBO has some specs up. They're asking for some pretty stout maneuvering performance.

It makes sense. If the young pups are pulling 9Gs for the first time (in a jet, not the 'fuge) in a 150 million dollar 5th generation airplane, bad things will happen and it will get expensive. The last dual aircraft young LTs are flying should be able to perform close to the level of the jets they go on to fly.

Hell, the T-38 performs very similar to the century-series fighters of its day.

No argument, just thought it might explain why the T-100 wouldn't be competitive and not worth GD's time.

Then whatvare they flying in bcourse?

There's an AETC briefing floating around about the future of UPT and the conclusion was we should go back to Generalized UPT

Cool - flew the mighty Tone myself but everyone going thru the same program would have it's benefits. Multi-place training can happen after UPT in a sim prior to FTU for heavy dudes. If you can fly in formation you can say co when the checklist calls for it
