Last year while driving, a dude cuts 2 lanes over and no signal, in front of a Sheriff's car no less.  At the light, Deputy just gets on the the loudspeaker, calls him out, and tells him to use his blinker.  A few honks from surrounding cars and a waive out the window from dude.  Effective?

On numerous occasions I've seen cops in my neighborhood turn their lights on when a car coming the other way was speeding, then turn their lights off and continue when the speeder slows down.  Officers always have discretion and examples like you have above can be effective.  However, to blatantly state as a policy that the police will not pull people over for minor violations is a license to commit minor violations.

I agree that laws should be policed.  I disagree with a lot of laws tho.  For example, an expired tag, which is more a function of revenue/taxes than crime, should not be a police matter.  Parking tickets, JFC.  Purely money, and again should not be a police function whatsoever.  Now if the politicians want to delete laws, have at it.

Sorta funny, in AR a rep floored a bill that allows one to run a red light after they stop and there's no traffic, like a stop sign.  The others didn't like it and it got the deep six.

Who should enforce parking?

Not sure I agree...while expired tags and non-working tail lights are often used by bad cops to justify pretextual stops, if you didn't pay for your registration what are the odds you don't have insurance either.  I do not agree on parking with a caveat, at an expired meter...absolutely.  But in my hood I see soccer mom's park in the fire lane of the SmallMart and run inside to grab an item or two.  I also see the same thing with handicapped parking...didn't get to worked up about that until a few months ago when I saw a double amputee trying to get out of his van in a normal parking space when all the handicapped spots were full.  In one of the parking spots was my buds wife...he is a 100% SDV and can barely walk, but he wasn't in the car, she used his car to run errands and used his handicapped plate out of convenience to park in a spot.

Saw a video clip from the FSU shooting of some stupid bitch sipping on her starbucks while walking past and filming a shooting victim who clearly needed medical attention. What the hell is wrong with people?

That was a video from a “rape protest” or something (staged for the internet), not actual footage from today.

I've seen some people saying this was the case, but it just doesn't seem accurate. The footage in question looks exactly like the FSU campus, there are gunshots ringing out in the background, and that gunshot wound looks 100% real

Would be pretty wild to watch if they release any video.  Glad no one got hurt!

The one minor injury being inflicted by the nearest CPO 10 seconds after the incident...

“Deputies had been called to the boy’s house 50 times.” If there ever was enough data to get CPS involved, it was somewhere less than the 50th time.

Duke City standard. Family probably made some bullshit excuse.

From local news: “The sheriff’s office says the boys are OK. They’re getting therapy, family services and juvenile probation. Their parents are also getting therapy and legal representation.” 🫣

Theres a very good reason the area around the base is known as “the war zone” and ABQ has a Shot Spotter network like we had on FOB’s in Iraq and AFG…

Shed hunting from a helo - I’m in! As long as @Biff_T is flying and approves a 30 rack in the back.

So there I was:  One of my last TDYs was to a small range for gun training.  The last night of the trip,  we cleared the range and checked in with the range controller.   As a helo, we were typically below radar so the controller relied heavily on our position reports for SA.   We were all fatigued from flying multiple sorties that day and night.   During the process of setting up the first gun pattern, one of my gunners noticed the targets were moving (they weren't supposed to be).  Turns out they were cattle.   Due to my shitty navigation,  I turned down the wrong split in the river and we had accidentally flown to some dude's ranch.  We almost slaughtered a few cattle behind some poor unknowingly rancher's home.  Not a moose but there would have been plenty of beef.

Helicopters baby!
