No, we're not.

Respectfully disagree. My brother is a cop and head of the SWAT Team at a large North East Department.

Before making Lt he served as his department's chief firearms instructor. A few years back when I was visiting during their annual weapons qualification period, his police chief invited me to shoot the qualification course. I qualified very easily, five of the 50 officers there that day did NOT.

Respectfully agree to disagree. There's a lot more to being a cop than shooting (but I agree, most cops are lousy at it and many will admit it!) just as there is a lot more to being in the military than marching.

People aren't asking to be full-up cops, just concealed-carry firearms. Is there "a lot more" to national CCW than shooting and proper safety?

Yes you get to piss off every liberal from NYC to LA when you proudly stroll in their "Gun Free City".

(Not a dig at you NsPlyr, more for the likes of Cuomo, Bloomberg, Emmanuel, Fienstein ect.)

Hell, I'd be more impressed if state carry laws applied on military installations. I understand USC 18 Sec 930, but not even allowing people to keep personally-owned firearms in their vehicles when state law allows it is just stupid!

Who said anything about being a cop...we were talking about weapons handling?

Granting concealed carry permits on a national basis for military makes sense, not because we're a 'special class', but because we frequently PCS to states we are not residents of without reciprocity.

I just think its a damn shame any law-abiding citizen has to "apply" to any level of govt for permission to exercise a codified inalienable right.

That said, hu&w is right, military and LEO shouldn't get any "special" rights not available to John Q. Public.

That said, I hope the petition passes!

I'd much rather have national reciprocity for all CHL holders, being military should not give anyone more rights in this regard than an average citizen (which is Hacker's point).

But I disagree with his claim that the same goes with law enforcement. That is one area where I think an exception needs to be made. I know quite a few LEOs and many have to take extraordinary bu necessary measures to protect themselves and their families. Chances are slim that military personnel are going to run into a Taliban at the local Walmart, but off-duty law enforcement officers always run the risk of bumping into felons they've arrested in a public place.

Speaking of which, an amendment to LEOSA was passed this year which further clarified that military police officers and civilian police officers employed by the US Government unambiguously met the definitions in the original Act. What that means has yet to be decided by the DoD, but some believe this will give those who performed law enforcement duties in the military. What will be necessary is for the DoD to issue some sort of identification to those eligible (as law enforcement officers much have). To what extent the DoD will offer this has yet to be seen, but some speculate it could extend as far as to those who held UCMJ authority at one point (e.g. G-series orders).

I've heard good things about the SP2022, and it is one of the few models SIG did right. It's an underrated firearm that deserves more recognition. What caliber did you get?

Well I was torn between this or the XDS .45, but I have a bunch of 9mm stocked up and no .45, so I ended up going with the 9mm.

Just a friendly heads up, Bud's Police Supply has some Smith & Wesson AR-15s in stock. Probably should act fast if you've been waiting to get an AR without being completely gouged on price.

Thanks for the heads up. If I was still into guns I would have just picked up an ORC and a m&P 22.

I bought mine in Oct for $680 on Buds LE and then got the $100 rebate. Given the climate, this is a pretty damn good deal. Here's the link with the current $100 rebate:

Wow, now that's a deal.

I've been waiting for Bud's LE to have the S&W M&P 22 Pistol in stock (going to buy it for my wife). Haven't seen it anywhere else for nearly as good of a price. It *is* however available on the regular Bud's shop but I'm not willing to spend an extra ~30% over the LE price just to get it today. I wish I knew how they determined what stock is made available between the LE inventory and the regular shop.
