  1. Been doing this since 1981, back then when you went tdy to a military base and if you stayed off base you better have non availability form when you filed to get paid. What has changed?
  2. Replacing the the rudder PCU on a KC135R costs over 350K. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G530AZ using Baseops Network Forums mobile app
  3. Will there be anymore threats to retired veterans who work now as a Federal civil servant over pension issues? Active duty for 23 years and the last two as an WG employee. I came in the VEAP era and was never allowed to join the Montgomery GI bill and barely eligible for the 9/11 bill. Thank God for Tricare!! Always hear leadership trying to come up with plans to degrade our retirements to save a buck. What is the reason my service comp date is only the day I started as a civilian instead of the first day I enlisted in 1980 since I retired?
  4. It's okay, I downloaded it from a Russian porn site. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G530AZ using Baseops Network Forums mobile app
  5. It happened on a Monday didn't, I hate Mondays.
  6. Not a pilot, never will be a pilot, just a humble A&P that fixes the jets you hope to fly one day. Stop worrying about your girl and cars. When you get to UPT just worry about getting through to breakfast, then lunch, then dinner in that order. Old joke; How do make God laugh? Tell him your plans. Spent 23 years on active duty and never got an assignment that was even on my dream sheet if they even have those things anymore. If you are at Vance or Shepard I would get a used car you would not mind driving that has hail damage and is going to get some more hail damage. I.E. a 2004 Saturn Lemon.
  7. Last configuration of 55-3121 before its last flight. Same jet and tail# in the group picture.
  8. That is a early 1955 A model with the original vertical stabilizer that did not have yaw damper installed. The engines are J57-59W Pratts or Fords. That serial# probably is no longer in the inventory as with all the 55 and 56 series jets have been parked stripped and cut up for scrap. Researched that tail# 55-3121 it crashed near Valdez Alaska in 85 with loss of crew, it was a RC-135T at that time.
  9. I've busted my knuckles on 4 of them.
  10. I'm thinking he dropped his pencil in the wrong spot and tried to retrieve it.
  11. Can we get cyber command to just hack his bank accounts and send everything to the salvation army.
  12. On the other hand would it be better to have guys who know what a dead 18 year old looks like instead of all chickenhawks ,neocons and east coast elitists who have never served. VP Pence son is a Marine, I believe having skin the game comes a new way of thinking.
  13. That is a contractor that really underbidded and makes up cost by screwing their workers by taking food off their table. Saw it in the AOR with helicopter mx, Raytheon doing good work on Army helicopters then CECOM underbids and just hires anybody off the street just to have boots on the ground. Usually its a seamless transition but when the on coming management comes in cutting pay by half everybody gives them the finger and 24hrs later in Murphy's pub in Dubai having a Stella and fries updating resumes.
  14. Yes some contractors get the mechanics they pay for. I remember helping out a T-1 make a sortie on a transit ramp by just fixing a burnt out nav light. Vance mx came unglued since it was all about the contract. Altus is all civil service and hear good things about them. Remember contract mx is all owned by corporate interests and their only loyalty is to their stock holders. Plus don't blame the mechanics, blame the contracting squadron who signed off on a shit contract.
  15. From a MX perspective, do the F-16 and F-35 FTU's have military mx troops? If so , why? Wouldn't manning the mx sq's with WG's make better sense than E's? Let the E's get their FTD training there then out to a combat coded airframes. That's alot of manpower that is tied up in training squadrons. Altus, Vance, Shepard, Laughlin etc seem to be doing fine with civilian mx. I know it's costs more to pay them on weekends and TDY's but wouldn't be more affordable having a 30 year experienced Crew Chief than an 18 year old that doesn't even know all the hand signals when it comes to sortie production?
  16. Why yes they were, the AT-38's actually had centerline bombrack and or gun. The E-3A I was crewing at the time had less than 5000 hours.
  17. The last I was at Holloman it had F-15's and AT-38's, Yes I'm old.
  18. History always repeats itself. The Northeast press and intelligentsia said the same thing about Abraham Lincoln. Pinkerton men had to get him to D.C. in disguise so southern sympathizer's would not assassinate him before he took the oath. He grew a beard. How many of you have been unfriended on social media because of your pro Trump support by liberal long time friends?
  19. Or it could be a primer on how to make E-9 , stratification and not deploy.
  20. Maybe it's a self gratification class on how to not make a mess in the tent, that would be useful.
  21. The games are almost unwatchable, rosters are unrecognizable season to season and Goodell winning his penis fight and putting the games most marketable player(Brady) on suspension. I'm rooting for Brady so he can be handed that Superbowl MVP award by Goodell. Besides I'm a Bear fan and haven't had anything to root for, go Pat's. I wonder why most players are not being tackled by the flowing lock's protruding from most helmets these days?
  22. At least on the mx side of your wing they had a shop just to make sure everybody had their fecal matter all together and we just got on the E-3 to rotate or drove down to KOKC to get a flight to Baltimore to catch the rotater. What screwed everything up was bringing in a commercial jet to Ktik and deal with a ATOC that are straight reservists that are out of practice which turned everything into an CF. Coming home dealing with the customs prick (ex ABM'r) at KTIK meant a 5 hour stay on base before you can go home. Remember pleading with a new ACC to stop at Bangor to clear customs but pressed home and stayed on the jet for 2 hours in the bird cage.
  23. I'm reading about an USMC General telling the troops to turn off the cell phones and get off the grid. Later on they talk about the Navy turning off the GPS and doing celestial navigation. My question is when was the last time the USAF navigator put a sextant through the port to shoot stars? If we ever get into a WW3 type shooting war one would think our GPS satellites would be a priority target as much as an aircraft carrier . http://breakingdefense.com/2016/08/turn-off-that-iphone-commandant-tells-marines/
