  1. I . . . kinda . . . see your point, but I would not equate the importance of SKE with the importance of the nuclear arsenal. Also, we train (some of) it to a half-baked standard, so the skills we are good at are localisms. That's why guys don't buy into it. Not saying we shouldn't be able to drop two ship IMC, but flying 5 hours in a 30 ship SKE route? That's like marching into battle with a fife drum.
  2. That's where SKE comes in. C-130 pilots are well-positioned with the skills of yesteryear, ready to knock out the enemy with a surprise invasion of 60 airplanes providing mass on DZ. When the time comes just get behind us.
  3. Can you sign up for multiple applied courses in DL 7.0? Has anyone pressed to test?
  4. Looks like I had to type in the direct AU Portal website on a .mil network (not just a mil computer if you’re working from home). Thanks fellas!
  5. Thread bump here. Working on ACSC to kill some time and keep the brain busy. The AU Portal has been down for days, tickets have been opened, and no word. Completed a few classes and had no issues with the AU portal, but now it's TU and there's no way to get any real info. Anyone else having these problems?
  6. Here’s my question for the day reference where medical advice is trending: What data scenario would allow us to end these lockdowns? Data shows very low infection or death rate? Keep them in place. Data shows much higher infection or death rate? Keep them in place. Data shows we shacked the infection/death rate? Keep them in place. This is like the public health version of the GWOT/ drugs/ poverty. We will be forever turning the corner!
  7. It depends on how your local franchise unit interprets the regs. I've had it work out both ways after deployments or schools. Scenario 1: Orders end date doesn't change whether I take leave or not. The dollars in your pocket are greater if you sell back. If 6 month orders end on August 15, they end on August 15. Take leave, you get paid through Aug 15 with BAH/BAS/Fly Pay, and nothing more. Sell back leave and you're paid through Aug 15 with BAH/BAS/Fly Pay, plus X days of base pay. Scenario 2: Orders end date changes based on leave sell back. Cash in hand is less if you sell back. If 6 month orders end on August 15 you've earned 15 days of leave. You can take leave Aug 1-15 and get BAH/BAS/Fly Pay. Or, you can sell back 15 days of leave. Your orders are modified to end on July 31 and you get a check for 15 days of basic pay. All depends on who is cutting your orders.
  8. If the symptoms of this pandemic keep changing, isn’t it worth at least considering adjusting the dosage of medicine we’re taking? The response from the “no” camp seems to be some form of, “STFU and be thankful you aren’t dead, idiot.” How can we have accurate data on ANY of these rates when we can’t test everyone? Plenty of deaths are being nudged under COVID-19, increasing the death count. Plenty of potentially infected people aren’t being tested. Completely healthy people and people showing only a few symptoms. That decreases the infections count. I’m not too bright but our admitted inability to accurately count the numerator and denominator seems like a gaping hole in our approach.
  9. Got stopped at the commissary door today because I didn’t have a face covering. By three people wearing face coverings and literally standing shoulder to shoulder. I’m excited for tomorrow’s preventive measure of the day. Hopefully we can all self- radicalize to support whatever they say it is next. Remember to shame your neighbors over this previously unmentioned mitigation strategy.
  10. We’re about to be amazed at the number of military members with dual Ph.D.’s in economics and virology.

  14. Interesting. I didn't know we were actually using them for parts. That's great, and I'm with you on not shooting down ideas. We need more. 15. Why are 3D printers all the rage in these innovation labs? If we were 3D printing parts to fix our broke ass airplanes, cool. But really, what are we 3D printing?
