Funny thing. Here in SAN on a layover and walked by the event location. Saw everyone walking out suit and tie etc. Had to google RTAG out of curiosity. Had no idea this existed.

I have dropped ML before Thanksgiving in the past (and not batted an eyelash). Why? Because I was flying a day or night sortie for proficiency. Nothing "unethical" about that.

We should've thrown a Hellfire into the Presidential Palace when all those Talibs were gathered around the desk (I know, before you counter, you can't chop the head off this snake). It is written into the Koran that is not verbotten to "lie" to one's adversary in order to advance jihad. In fact, it's encouraged! They're gonna tell us/the world what we want to here and then do the exact opposite in a few days/weeks.

The other concept which is relevant in this case is the fact that the Afghan culture is based on constantly shifting alliances with whoever happens to hold the most power at the time. ANA was "slowly" crumbling the last few months. Soldiers saw the inevitable and began to change side en masse.

The lack of planning for this one is truly astonishing. Pack up and leave during the height of the fighting season when the enemy is strongest. Why not wait till winter when they all head to Pakistan? Oh wait, because someone wants to establish the final day on 11 Sept. How ironic when that day comes and the Taliban plant that flag atop the US embassy. The long term negative optics on this will be painful

Can local base medical "ask" you to send them a copy of your vax record (if received off base) for wing "tracking" purposes?
