  1. Does the AFRES offer RPA slots on their unsponsored board? That’s all I’m medically qualified for. I’m on a remote tour now so rushing units for sponsorship isn’t really feasible.
  2. I’m in a similar boat. I have phorias that exceed FCII standards, however there are no phoria standards for RPA pilots. Is this also typically waivered under the same line of thinking as waivering the depth perception for RPA only applicants?
  3. Maybe the reason those jobs that are AFSC neutral but coded for rated dudes is because non-rated guys have much shorter ADSCs and can punch if offered a crappy deployment. On the other hand the rated dudes have ADSCs that last a decade from UPT and up to retirement if you take the bonus. My guess is the captive rated audience is part of the equation.
  4. Someone in my flt at COT who had degrees from two Ivy League schools failed an OTS assignment. When asked about it the response was something along the lines of "I wrote a grad-school level paper but what they really wanted was a fill in the squares paper that a ten year old could write."
  5. I've known enlisted that stopped trying to make more rank because increasing their income would cause them to lose their WIC payments.
  6. I'm sure that nips all those Zoo scandals right in the bud.
  7. In medical I have met many Sq CCs that did not do IDE in-res, and a couple guys who did IDE in-res that were non-selected for Sq command. It might have something to do with our IDE process where you have to apply for IDE to go in-res-not via the promotion board picking who they want to send to IDE.
  8. As long as the economy continues to suck for high school and college grads like it has for the last 15 years or so the AF doesn't give a rip. When you have dudes with law degrees enlisting the supply of new recruits isn't in any sort of danger of going away. And I was glad to see Gen Welsh wearing ABUs in the commercial. I always liked it when a wing CC or higher wore ABUs to show that they represented all of us, not just the other bag wearers.
  9. Take a TDY long enough to make it up in per diem or sep allowance.
  10. Remember the rate protection clause. For most of us we're frozen at our 2014 rates until promoted, PCSed, or dependent status changes.
  11. Via PT fails, the crusade against sexual assault, aggressive drug testing, and MEBs. On the E side the new high year tenure limit of 15 years for E5s is starting to claim some victims as well.
  12. Just get yourself on a waist only profile, seran wrap if necessary, and check that box with 100 on the PT test.
  13. After reading about the case at Ellsworth I have a question that the one-sided reporting didn't seem to bother asking. Was the victim counseled about her right to apply for a humanitarian reassignment as a sexual assault victim? If not, why not? If so, why is she still at that base? Granted as a Bone person she would have most likely been shipped off to Dyess but that still beats having to stay at Ellsworth around the perpetrator and an unsupportive chain.
  14. Saw that the NDAA also will require Tricare to provide breast feeding pumps and other related supplies to new mothers as a new Tricare benefit. Even though Tricare is exempt from ACA rules this brings us in line with what is now required of insurers in this area. That is actually a step in the right direction. Currently Tricare covers breast enhancement surgeries but not breast feeding supplies. Can you tell we're a male dominated organization?
  15. I could refute this in several different ways (I'm medical but not a doc) but will make the simplest argument there is. If you take the ROTC or USAFA to MD route the ADSCs for all that school will keep you around for 16 years or so. Thus there are some silver leaf docs out there still on their initial ADSCs. Palace Chase or VSP is almost never an option for docs so they have to complete their ADSCs to separate. For someone in that boat it's a no brainer to hang around a little longer to get the pension.
  16. So what you're saying is that Hagel took half as much time as his predecessors to find a lucrative board member gig?
  17. Maybe you highlighted yourself as not being a team player because you never planned a holiday party or change of command, or spearheaded the CFC drive.
  18. Didn't stop them from dropping all those PSDMS at 1700 the day most people left for Xmas vacation last year.
  19. I still think the PR value of the first female USAFA grad as CSAF is too good to pass up. Add that to the current SECAF and we're shattering the glass ceiling.
  20. That's what happens when you have an AF culture that emphasizes negatives over positives. It's okay to be mediocre with no PT fails, paperwork, etc. but if a high performer has one slip up it could be the end.
  21. And wouldn't an OPR reflect a push for in-res SOS until in-res was completed? While we're on this "is it really masked?" kick, are they going to mask an entire duty history line and training report for dudes that go to AFIT for an in-res degree?
  22. The SOS box is still visible. If they can't find enough people without that box checked then the next step to look for passovers will be Xmas parties.
  23. So Sikh hair is legal, cornrows are legal, and buzzcuts on women are now legal as well. Could somebody please explain to me why my sideburns can't go below the bottom of the opening of my ear?
  24. I think there's some irony that this thread about "why would anyone want to be a CC" is currently right under the "Wing CC loves to fire SQ CCs" thread.
  25. What really needs to be masked is commissioning source. But we will have squadrons that fly pigs before that happens.
