  1. Revolvers too to go along with the blue bags?
  2. Per that article that missileer bonus is payable at the completion of initial skills training. So if someone were to complete missileer school and cash the bonus for doing so and then "develops a medical problem" and gets taken off PRP, do they keep that bonus cash?
  3. I think the guy Sean Connery murdered in Hunt for Red October was the protocol officer.
  4. Hunch regarding that '06 majors board: it could be early in the year to avoid conflicting with a RIF. Just ask your nearest '05 about the BS involved with doing RRFs and PRFs at the same time.
  5. Nah, AFPC would have showed up a week late and missed the concert.
  6. I got the assignment-even though my circumstances fell under the "normally not approved" portion of their guidance. However, a free trip out of the northern tier 3 years early was on the line; and one does not pass up that kind of opportunity. The blindfolded monkey throwing darts at afpc worked in my favor...I wonder if it's the same one that's working on the VSP apps.
  7. WTF do we still have any kind of AF band? A couple of boom boxes can do the same job. The bands are supposedly there to help with recruiting, but who has ever joined the AF because of the band concert?
  8. Disclaimer-I'm a direct appt medical dude and don't know much about you line guys; but out of curiousity what happens when you have to rack and stack guys across career fields? Does #4/20 pilots take precedence over #1/10 FSS because a pilot can fly and shuffle papers and the FSS guy can only shuffle papers?
  9. Did a search and didn't find a relevant thread...I applied for a humanitarian assignment about 2.5 weeks ago to be near my father who has cancer. It's currently at the submitted to BPO step. Does anyone have any knowledge on these things and how fast they move? I spoke to my assignment team and there's an open slot at the base I want and they said that they don't anticipate filling it until the fall cycle; does this availability of a slot tilt things in my favor?
  10. The enlisted promotion system is incredibly screwed up. Because it's all career field specific it's possible that some doofus with a 28 on the asvab can make chief just because he's a cop but wouldn't even be allowed into tech school in a bunch of other afscs.
  11. My MTF is currently underutilized and they're pushing actual appointments in an attempt to push up their RVUs and not lose manning. Hence why I have an appointment tomorrow just to renew a profile-they don't get an RVU if the PA (I'm a shoe so I'm not entitled to an actual doc) uses up admin time to take 30 seconds to renew my profile vs. making me sit in the exam room when it gets renewed.
  12. That means the blindfolded monkey running the show has put your app in the maybe pile. He will hang it up on the dartboard for a decision sometime in the near future.
  13. You forgot to add that most PCMs were bottom third of the their medical school class-that's why they are in family medicine.
  14. There is no solution to the assclownery at the MDG. What do you expect when you combine the enlisted afscs with the lowest asvab scores, a bunch of single digit GS's; and the bottom fifth of every medical school in America? Don't count on MiCare to be the savior; I gave up on it after every email said "call us for an appointment."
  15. Liquid has been on the forum lately, but has been hanging out in the PME thread-probably safer over there.
  16. No high paying civilian business cares about your masters in underwater basket weaving from TUI either.
  17. To throw in something that's not religious: The AF places way too much emphasis on higher education. It used to be like this: enlisted: high school graduate, line officer: bachelors, professional/medical officer: advanced degree. Now it's advanced degrees pushed across the board. When enlisted members have the same or more education than officers what the hell kind of environment is this supposed to foster?
  18. Ahh, the AF Times-charging airmen to read what you can find for free elsewhere. I'm curious about that RIF-did enough Os ask for VSP that AFPC said F it, we don't need a RIF? That looks like what happened on the E side-many career fields had so many takers for the early outs that the retention boards got canx.
  19. Friday is almost here...who wants to speculate AFPC will post a new RIF PSDM late in the afternoon to barely meet the deadline to have guidance out 6 months prior to the board?
  20. No one wants to hear stories about your time at the zoo. There's a group cc at my base that graduated from the zoo in 1990 and still brings up that damn place every time he can. No one wants to hear about that great CEO job you have lined up next either. If you give the slightest indication that this job you're in now isn't the most important assignment to you then that causes trickle down effects of others losing faith as well.
  21. Bender, if you log into mypers and find the promotions section you can find all the stats you would ever want. It breaks down each board via promotion rec, pme status, and aad within each occupational area. Non-rated ops tends to do the best with navs usually the worst. There is also a spreadsheet that compares board percentages across time-not surprisingly the O6 board fluctuates the most.
  22. That group of 500 airmen is probably enlisted that are about to put on E8. Delaying that board release was part of the strategic pause. I wouldn't doubt that some of these promotions effect the force structure-especially in the small afscs.
  23. I think every enlisted TERA applicant in my MDG did so to duck scheduled deployments-or else it was just a bunch of coincidences.
  24. If you believe the fine print in that article about 2014 eligibles not being hit again in 2015 it looks like 2015 will take a look at the 04 YG (exempt this time as they're pinning on major), the 2012 YG that isn't old enough to get looked at this year, etc. ESERBs can legally meet every year as well.
  25. That record retention could be driven because everyone knows the AF throws around VSP every three years-why get out for free when you can get paid for it a couple years later?
