Hey Marty, I called Around today about refinancing my VA into a 30 year conventional. With excellent credit I am getting quoted at 4.5% (no points) and about $2300 in fees. Are you in the conventional business too or just VAs? Does that sound reasonable to you?

Question for the masses. Getting ready to PCS and want to free-up my VA loan eligibility which is tied up in a house that is being rented. With appraisal I have 20%+ equity. Can I refi that VA loan into a conventional with no pmi and then use my va for another house?

Can I do the pt test as a female and then transition back after lunch?

As long as you are world wide deployable, you can press with PC, even if on an exemption on your PFT.

I would say very likely. Just like guys who go to AETC somehow find themselves ping ponging back to it time and time again.

From the guys in my class who went RPAs they told me that they were constantly bombarded by leadership to recat and told doom and gloom on how they would be so far behind they would never catch up to their peers and probably be passed over as a result. I can imagine being told that for 3 years would take its toll.

It's cyclical. We are back to 2008-2010 all over again. We are going to flood T-38s with more studs and send them to all sorts of other non-CAF assignments. The only difference I see is there will still be lots of fighters dropped. More and more casuals sitting BIT waiting for B course dates. We've been here before guys. Maybe this time they won't turn the fighter pipeline off for 3 years and then wonder where the f$ck all the 11Fs have gone. Last night I was worried they were going to non-Vol a dude into fighters at ENJJPT... It was close.

Bluedevil, can't answer the first question but I can give everyone a data point for Palace Chase. Had an 11B guy in my squadron get turned down inside of 1 year from the end of his UPT ADSC. He did not have a hire letter though.

Whether he is or isn't a "somebody" in the AF, he embodies a lot of what I have heard our Senior "Leadership" say over the past decade. And dammit it feels good to just yell at the guy...

I don't like the wording in the last sentence... "Will be continued..." But doesn't federal up or out law trump being offered continuation? Meaning that they can offer but you can turn it down?

Was it because they were FAIPs that they were passed over, or were they passed over because they were FAIPs? Kidding, I have a special place in my heart for them.

I've known several twice passed over Captains hired at ANG units. One guy just got hired at a F-15C unit as a Strike Eagle dude with few connections at the unit. He also got picked up at most of the legacy airlines as well. Great dude that got completely screwed by the system. I was sitting in the Exec seat (I hate my life) during his second pass over (which he requested via letter to the board) and after going through his paperwork it was obvious no one had taken care of him. Great dude and is happier now than he ever was on Active Duty.

And it's only going to get higher. I think now days a 95%+ selection rate will be the norm. The days of guys getting forced out as Captains are over, until the next AFPC debacle.
