  1. As a dude who has been Guard and AD. I can tell you that complaining is part of life. You are never going to be 100% happy with how any organization, big or small, is run. Having said that, AD has some serious issues. Manning, deployments, assignments, retention, toxic leaders, scandals, just to name a few. The Guard has its problems too, however it was always on a micro level and much easier to handle, especially for those that were part timers and could just walk out the door middle finger held high and come back a month later as if nothing had happened. As far the Reserves, I put their QOL between AD and the Guard, as I have heard of some shady stuff going on there lately like 365 deployments and crap like that. This would never fly with the Guard.
  2. One of my best buddies had a great quote today: "Getting a 22 year old to join up to fly jets doesn't impress me. Getting a 32 year old to stay impresses me."
  3. What an awful attitude! If anyone wants to leave they can go! Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 using Tapatalk If only that was true. I am on my fourth palace chase attempt. I'm freaking trying. What's your background again?
  4. Party on everyday that end in "y".
  5. So did they push up the FY16 board?
  6. Metrics (unconfirmed RUMINT) to spread. All pilots with DPs were promoted. 78% of pilots with a P and SOS complete were promoted. 27% with a P and APZ were promoted.
  7. Nah. Not Butters. There is no hiring wave! I kid. Good to have you on the dark side Butters. It's been too quiet here. To answer your question, I was advised that the GI bill is not the govt reimbursing your cost, but I would get some other opinions too. I am in the same boat.
  8. Until you realize how powerless your SQ/CC really is... It's sad really.
  9. I joined to serve my Country and protect my family, but my priority has been and always will be Faith, Family, Country and the the Air Force, in that order. The problem is that the Air Force is constantly pitting Air Force members in a position where they are forced to choose between their family and Active Duty, and too many times it is due to deployed kingdom building or pointless tasking that some O-6 or higher refuses to get rid of. In those cases I see people become disillusioned with AD and choose to take their talents elsewhere, mostly to the Guard or Reserves where they feel they can better shield their family from AD careerism and the bloody trail it leaves behind.
  10. Guineapigfury. It is the same at my base. However most people are trying to Palace Chase so at least they will still be in the total force. I have also noticed people leaving who have never been screwed by Big Blue but see how bad the current climate is and are getting jaded just from that. It is an interesting time for sure, and money is not the answer.

Eww. I hadn't noticed until you pointed it out. Thanks bro.
  12. I think you mean he could submit July 2016 for a Jan 2017 separation in your example, but yes they base their decision on the day you put down you want to separate and how much remaining ADSC you would have then. I remember something about valid separation dates being between 8 weeks to a max of 6 months from the day you hit submit. However it is still first come first processed at the PC office regardless of how early or late your requested separation date.
  13. Not sure if you are trying to say that McDew isn't that bad or saying that his reputation is unfounded or just trying to be funny, but let me educate everyone here who hasn't run across this guy. If it sounds ridiculous and almost unbelievable, it probably is true.
  14. Bad. But it seems to take around 6-7 weeks or so. Mine always makes it out of the wing quickly but sits a lot at AFPC and the Palace Chase office.
  15. AMC/ACC functional roadshow just came through my base. The C-17 specific functional said they are under orders to recommend disapproval for anyone outside 1 year. He said the most of an 11M he has seen get out of is 2 years. Remember they are just making a recommendation but it seems to carry more weight than the O-6 Wing Commander who recommends approve. F@ck this place.
  16. McDew - I heard a story from my old SQ/CC that he visited some base got off the plane and be lined for this lieutenant who had a morale patch. "You just made your whole wing look like $#it"
  17. Only 2 years? That is what I have seen approved lately. I would keep trying. Being an IP is a special container the functional checks which is hurting you too. Ugh. Big Blue.
  18. What are you googling M2???? Lol
  19. It would either be a palace chase or misc. if you do a miscellaneous they will probably want you to write a memo stating that your forfeit you VA TEB since a miscellaneous separation completely let's you out of your remaining ADSC.
  20. How much were you asking for? Heavy functionals are being told to deny all apps outside of one year.
  21. It is near impossible at Sheppard to wash out.
  22. I initially wrote more but thought better of it. I'll say that 3 people on the t-6 side could go to the IG or congress.
  23. I can say as an instructor, behind the scenes there is a lot of hate brewing there due to the current climate.
  24. How were PT fails looked at? Auto DNP for most?
