  1. Think of how many eagles we would have now had we been able to shoot behind us in the dog fights during Desert Storm!!!
  2. Tail gunners. When the Eagle first came out they were planning on having a tail gunner but instead ditched them to save weight. Worst mistake ever in my opinion.
  3. Yep. Kicked it back immediately. I guess maybe Miscellaneous Separation is my only option.
  4. Totally ISIS trying to figure out what is our favorite F-15.
  5. Question for the masses. Any experience with Palace Chasing with an ALC of C-2? According to the regs I can't even apply, so WTF am I supposed to do?
  6. Almost anything can be overlooked in the guard if a prospect is a good fit. Be prepared to at least address it without looking like you are just making excuses for poor performance. That will get you kicked out of the bar before you even get a chance. I don't see the AD OTS selection being quite as forgiving, being as competitive as it has been in the past.

    iOS app updates

    Didn't censor those ones out!
  8. I kept waiting but The girls never came!!!
  9. I agree with MXQA we should let SF protect us. When seconds count, SF is only minutes away! If only they were more worried about security and less about Lts walking back to the pilot projects drunk or pulling over dudes going 3 mph above the speed limit... Thank God this was just one wacko who wanted to off his commander and not a REAL active shooter scenario. The body count would have been much higher.
  10. Congrats!!!! State AFSC! Maybe there is hope!
  11. Which may be the reason the fighter community can't keep anyone in the cockpits. 300 pilots short this year? That's a joke! They are vastly undercutting these numbers!!!
  12. According to pin on rates the '06 grads will be done pinning on by this December. If we keep pinning O-4s at the same rate, the '07 group will be done by September 2017, leaving the '08 grads starting to pin on in October 2017. As dudes continue to punch, the O-4 boards will continue to move up. I can see stuff being due to your squadron in October, but even that seems a little early. Maybe board in March-April next year for '08?
  13. Ha ha. That doesn't match the slide I saw 8 years ago saying AMC WIC was being promoted at the same rate as Phoenix Reach programs. Again, I know of guys essentially non-vol'd to WIC as heavy guys
  14. Maybe try some less desirable locations to get your foot in the door? Also try to get someone to more or less sponsor you who is already in the unit.
  15. Also not being qual'd in the airframe brings the challenge of TX courses which isn't a huge deal if you have been hanging out during drill weekends and they want to take a chance on you. Lastly, I would say the best advice I can give is to be humble. I have a couple good stories of guys coming in who flew the F whatever or was an Evaluator in such and such or was a patch wearer or had umpty billion hours get told thanks but no thanks. Which is sad but always funny to watch people who truly have no sense of self-awareness or people skills completely embarrass themselves and shoot themselves in the foot.
  16. They are evaluating if they want to hang out with you until you hit 20 or beyond. It's hard to do that over the phone or with one face to face. If you really want to get hired you have to hustle. I know my unit would rather not hire anyone and be undermanned than hire a question mark or someone that they may be stuck with. We got burned with some dudes before and we're stuck until they hit O-5 + 2 years.
  17. Can you be selected for promotion but then decline before pinning on? Or is being a non-select at the board via sabotage, writing a DNP me letter, etc the only way to avoid being promoted (and thus allow an earlier exit to greener pastures)? Honestly don't know. Great question for which I have dug through regs extensively to find the answer to. Short answer is if you are selected but decline promotion, you will serve out the remaining ADSC at the lower rank. You weren't twice passed over so no continuation required but you will separate at the end of your commitment.
  18. How would the board look at a record that has several top strats but chose to NOT put them on their prf? Would a senior leader even let you sabotage yourself like that? Does the board really dig into your records? My OPR before my board shouldn't have a strat and will be my top OPR. Crazy questions I know, just trying to figure out options.
  19. Off topic but applicable to ADSC. If one was to be passed over twice and turn down continuation, they would have to separate within 6 months regardless of any remaining UPT ADSC. Would the same apply for someone who was selected but turned down the promotion? Or would they force you to complete the remaining ADSC at the rank of Captain?
  20. Knowing the Air Force they will approve it once you are already past the six months. Best of luck man. This is not how you keep your best people and fix the AF pilot shortage.
  21. Man I hate to say this but I really agree. So much of making rank in the Air Force is really all about just organizing activities and programs successfully, pushing for those jobs that you know are going to be painful and are going to make you hate your life!
  22. My guess is they are slammed with apps right now. Everyone trying to get out. At least morale is pretty darn good!
