  1. Thanks for the info! Did #2 get passed over?
  2. The juvenile record shouldn't affect anything from what I have seen. I would definitely bring it up during an ANG interview as a way you have grown up and learned. It may also bring some levity if you tell it the right way. I am most worried about your hand. I know from personal experience how strict the Medical Standards are for pilot applicants. Once you have wings they are much more inclined to do everything they can to chain er... Keep you in the service. This is probably something I wouldn't bring up. If they ask you about it tell them the truth, but don't do their jobs for them. At your DODMERB were you classified as "Pilot Qualified" or "Nav" or something else? (I was initially just Nav, do they even still do that?)
  3. Sorry I should have been more clear. My MWS is at 107% and my T-6 base is over-manned by the mid teens. No t-6 guy here is DAV coded.
  4. Community Manning is at 107% and my base is "double digit" T-6 IPs fat. I have a great record with good SQ and OG strats and a couple DGs, but from a smaller, less competitive base, so my records probably look better than if I was at a super wing for my first assignment. I feel confident that I am doing the best thing for my family and feel I have given the AF ample opportunity to retain me on the AD force. I will probably end up telling my DO, but I just have this feeling that no matter what I write on this letter the promotion rate is going to be so high that I am still going to get picked up anyways, but at least I can sleep knowing that I at least tried.
  5. Absolutely, but after 4 failed PC/Hardship and Misc separations... And leadership telling me I need to stop applying until I am about a year out, it puts me in this situation.
  6. Not sure how most units are but I would strongly suggest getting at least some logged flight time. Like 10 hours or so. At the Guard unit I was stationed they wouldn't consider anyone who hasn't at least done some flying just to see that it was for them.
  7. Good suggestion but I tried that and got denied by WG/CC and AFPC and SAF/PC. Sq/CC approved though. At my base the current guidance is they will disapprove all Separation/PC cases outside of 6 months.
  8. So my goal is to get once passed over and then request an early Palace Chase/Separation from AD before my second board. However those twice passed over waivers are getting approved by all my buds who have been twice passed over... I see all the gears turning on here but any answers to my original question on how to handle my True Blue leadership?
  9. Ihtfp06, it would get me to the ANG 2 years sooner than if I stayed to the bitter end. I still want to serve full time but I have family issues pulling me back home. Twice passed over, they will offer me continuation and I will decline it and make the transition.
  10. I am writing a "Do Not Promote" letter to my first look O-4 board. 1) will my Wing CC be able to see this? 2) should I give someone in my chain a heads up? They know why I want to get out and go to the ANG (family health reasons), but seem to hate anyone who tries to, God forbid, get out of AD. Any advice would be appreciated.
  11. I had a great time at SOS. Only 3 pilots in my flight but we had 3 think tankers too. Re-reading my post I realize I came off as passive aggressive towards Ratner, definitely not my intention. When I went through CZ was in charge and I saw him take the Think Tank work and present it to the AETC Commander as his own. I was already pretty jaded on senior management but that was the tipping point.
  12. Ratner you know that Think Tank is only designed to give the O-6 a bullet point to champion to his bosses right? But at least you will walk away with a DG for your efforts (most likely).
  13. Shame on all of you for not asking for pictures first! Have you not learned anything since being here?
  14. I failed my first depth perception test on the machine. The follow up test was much easier. I remember the guy remarking that it was not uncommon to fail that portion of the test. That was over 12 years ago so maybe they changed it?
  15. The real test is easier I would say. The letters are much larger than your picture. I wouldn't worry about it. You can't change it either way.
  16. It has less to do with being too old and has more to do with the Air Force knowing that if you take a mid-level Capt who has a couple thousand hours in another aircraft and train him in a fighter you will probably only get three years out of him before he punches for greener pastures. I know several guys who did the heavy thing in the Air Force and now are flying fighters successfully in the guard. It all depends on the person and their God given potential. A Lt is an indentured servant for 10 years... Maybe more if the Air Force gets its wish.
  17. Or we could have not just essentially shut the whole 11F pipeline down for 3+ years in the first place. This is now just fvcking hilarious now.
  18. All my s auto correct to Duck!!!
  19. Might as well call them and at least see what they can do. From my research, no one was able to beat NBKC, until Marty and Trident came around. You can also try Navy Federal, my dad used them and they were able to be competitive with NBKC rates.
  20. Yes! It is 100% possible! I haven't seen a 43rd UPT stud guy come through probably because of limited places to farm them out and a plethora of 11Fs jumping ship for ANG/Reserve! Occasionally we get a guy at UPT hired by Klamath or Tucson! The path is the std UPT, IFF, B Course, but rather than going back to your hired unit you will be farmed out to hopefully make IP at another unit! Only then would you return! However talking to a couple of my buddies, it seems like those guys rarely get back to the unit as an IP and typically find other units!!!! Edited to add more exclamation points.
  21. Hmm... Looking through her bio she has never been an Aircraft Commander and only has 1,330 flight hours. Not passing any judgement, it just caught my eye.
  22. How's the outlook for tankers at MacDill? Ops tempo?
  23. I love how he takes a swipe at Gen Welsh in there.
  24. Shout out to Marty and Trident. Call them, seriously, even if you think they can't help you out. As a product of the public school system of the south, I always get confused talking to financial types. Marty spent about 15 mins on the phone with me giving me some solid financial advice that even I could understand. It was very obvious he wanted what was best for me and my family. I will be doing business with them as soon as I get my pcs location nailed down.
