  2. SIB's out on the Moffett class A. Let's just say I'm not surprised with what the SIB found about that unit's culture. https://mountainview.patch.com/groups/police-and-fire/p/marijuana-cleanup-volunteer-falls-from-129th-rescue-wing-helicopter
  3. Somehow I survived Whiting without fucking up the course rules...
  4. You won't get that answer here. Go read the SIB, as was suggested above.
  5. we're flying, with no curtailment. Early last week the guidance was only those who were about to deploy could fly, but by Thurs that guidance had changed to keep flying, no restrictions on who can fly. We're scheduling the same number of lines as we normally do, with the same ASD, as well.
  6. And your office did a great job ISBing that one and handing it over to us. If I'd been in your shoes when leadership came calling, I would have quoted the job of an ISB (gather and preserve evidence), and then asked them what was taking their SIB so long... Regarding who can give privilege, in the ISB phase, it's the BP. In the SIB phase, the SIO, IO, or BP can. And they don't have to actually be present when the request is made, they can provide guidance to the rest of the SIB members conducting interviews.
  7. So, I think CSAR includes ALL 11Hs (Rescue Pilot). That's 60s, Hueys, and HC-130 folks. Curious to see the actual MDS breakout, as I think that may paint a clearer picture. The HC guys just got a shiny new aircraft, too...
  8. CDI is in lieu of an AIB. Basically, the MAJCOM/CC can delegate an AIB down to the WG/CC and call it a CDI. ALL Class A mishaps MUST have a legal (aka non-privileged) investigation, there is no way around this. I worked a Class A SIB last year where we recommended to the MAJCOM/JA that there was absolutely no reason to convene an AIB/CDI, and they said their hands were tied on the matter.
  9. SIB's out. Damn.
  10. just got it on FF 23.0.1 on Win 7
  11. You're supposed to care two pair
  12. Https://mail.dm.af.mil/owa works like a champ for me...
  13. DFRESH, web mail doesn't work at work, b/c you're already logged into the network. At least that's the case at DM.
  14. The Victoria and Albert Museum is amazing. Oh, and a quick visit to Greenwich and the Prime Meridian is geekily cool. Hop a train up to Edinburgh, if you have the time. Avoid Stonehenge, it's quite underwhelming (and smaller than you would think).
  15. Yes. We had this discussion about a month ago, next time I see the weekly CSAF slide I'll post data here. I think we've now exceeded FY12 for mishap rate, destroyed aircraft, and fatalities. Not good.
  16. Fox News is reporting a B-1 crash. Sounds like all 4 crew ejected safely. https://www.ksfy.com/story/23173844/ellsworth-afb-crew-survives-b-1-bomber-crash-in-montana
  17. A toast... https://www.kadena.af.mil/news/story.asp?id=123358595
  18. DFRESH, give all the recent Class As, it's more like these things happen in 8s, or 10s...
  19. https://www3.nhk.or.jp/news/html/20130805/t10013555671000.html this link shows video footage of the wreckage.
  20. https://www.google.co...0a4542e971d.421 edit: I hope this is true. All other news articles, including those from military sources, still say the 4th crew member hasn't yet been located. The fact this dude was also quoted in a different article as saying 3 crew members ejected and were fine now leads me to take anything from his mouth with skepticism, unfortunately.
  21. Of the 5 helo guys I am aware of who went to TPS in recent times, two are in RW test, and one is in CV-22s. Not sure about the other two, I lost track of them.
  22. Also Alvin Drew.
  23. One of several queepy things I once got QC rejected on was that my one-liner had too many acronyms. Well, assholes, if you limit how many characters I can use in a one-liner, then yes, it's going to have a lot of acronyms and abbreviations.
  24. so, what exactly is the CV-22's mission?
  25. I worked an F-22 SIB recently that took 4 months to complete. The evidence gathering took 3 months and 3 weeks. It's amazing how much things can change given one new piece of evidence...we deconvened for two months to let the smart folks do some testing. I'm not too worried about it. There's also an 85% QC rejection rate (per AFSEC) for final messages right now, so the MAJCOM may have spotted a few things that needed fixing, to try to not get the big FU from AFSEC a week after final message release and the SIB having already been deconvened at that point. Enormous PITA once you've gone back to your normal job to get sucked back in to fix queepy shit.
