Huggy, I know where you will be...MD, when's your shift at the static? Assuming you'll be at the HH-60...PM me if you don't want to post it here. Same for Huggy and expected arrival time on Fri so I can meet you at BOPS with a frosty beverage. Or maybe we need to set up a BODN rendezvous somewhere...let me know if anyone is interested.

We have two Huey to Pave Hawk guys going back to Rucker this summer. Is your assignments guy the same as ours?

12 FTW/CV loses job over 'inappropriate' emails
was he from the era of banked cockpits? I know of at least one F-16 pilot who spent 3 years flying Hercs before getting his fighter cockpit (he's currently the wing kind at Columbus)

I'm glad I was able to achieve escape velocity now more than ever.

Too late, my DOS was yesterday! I think just you and Fiver, maybe one or two others who can't seem to consistently get the CSAF's name right. Must be a pet peeve of mine for whatever reason...probably because I also have a last name people often misspell.

For the love of God, it's really not that hard to spell the fucking CSAF's name right! W E L S H.

CFI (Certified Flight Instructor) info
AF bases don't do the testing anymore. It's $140 (With the $10 AOPA discount) to take a CATS/Lasergrade test. And I didn't say I paid the FSDO, I said it's $190 to get your CFI. Since you have to have the MCI to make that happen...

CFI (Certified Flight Instructor) info
yup. Well, it's really $190 to get the CFI. Took me 30 min at the FSDO to walk out with CFI - Helicopter, S-70 type rating, and NVG/NVG instructor endorsement on Monday (Scottsdale).

it's not a loophole. You just have to provide justification WHY you want to separate with less than 180 days notice, and your SQ/CC or WG/CC has to buy it. In my case, I just put that I had multiple employment opportunities on the shortened timeline, and mine was approved (128 days notice from application submission to DOS). Took AFPC 4 weeks to approve my app, and I went on terminal leave 35 days later. Since I was applying with the justification of being a free agent (ADSC expired), they weren't going to disapprove it...(I think the only time that could happen would be stop loss). Took TAP while still waiting for app to be approved, since you can take it up to 2 years out from your expected DOS, and a nice A1C from the MPS went ahead and loaded an outprocessing checklist for my in vMPF so I could get ahead of the game, since it was going to be such a short period between notification and terminal leave (I had 60 days terminal).

Chida - call ahead and get someone on the phone who doesn't have a reading comprehension problem to help you out, or try a different FSDO altogether. I know the Scottsdale FSDO has been giving out the NVG endorsement...

I'm guessing that's how he qualifies each nugget of advice he dispenses to the crowd.

to take the test? No. Read what others have said about the FSDO, and I will report back once I've done that part, but sheppardair has some good gouge. Next step for me after the MCI test is to fill out the application on IACRA to get the ball rolling. Then i've been told I will need to make an appt with the FSDO for a face-to-face. Hope to walk out of there with an NVG endorsement and an S-70 type rating on top of my CFI/CFII.

BODN App
still need help? I have a 4, still running ios 6.

BODN App
he said it still had to get approved by Apple. i'm guessing that approval is not instantaneous.

good, it's been so long I would need a E-6B refresher...

?s on logging flight time
holy shit you ain't joking. I didn't truly understand all the variables in properly filling out a 781 until I upgraded to AC, and it's obvious and apparent neither did the 1 Chucks. I've found some pretty glaring errors in my flight time up to the point I upgraded. NVG time vs night time (the former but not the latter getting logged on a give sortie), NVG time getting logged with Other time, etc. Glad I'm taking the time now to covert my crappy flight records and correct those errors, though it is tedious.

CFI (Certified Flight Instructor) info
just signed up for the MCI at the local testing location, and am using Sheppard Air for test prep. Will I need to scrounge up a flight computer/calculator/E-6B/etc for the actual test or will the sheppard air test prep cover that, too?

AFPC ends Rip-its at downrange locations
The PT test thing started back in 2009 at BAF. Sad to hear it continued through multiple changes in leadership.

What's wrong with the Air Force?
It would be more credible if you could at least get the CSAF's name right.

Dependent Recertification - Who's got the back-story?
the email floating around DM says it's related to BAH. They're doing an audit for those claiming "w/dependent" to make sure they're getting what they should be getting.
