@08Dawg What’s too bad is that’s exactly what would happen, I don’t blame her family. Nobody will talk about how there was a male pilot also there with twice the hours. The only way DEI could possibly be linked is if the tower was understaffed at the time and it was found the additional personnel who *should* have been there would have likely jumped in with directive comm to avert disaster. But even then, that hypothetical finding will never be definitive, but just an educated assumption. FAA staffing may be a CF (in addition to helo pilot error), but ultimately I think the RC will be insufficient procedures for the amount of traffic congestion in the DCA area. And I say all this as someone who vehemently believes DEI is a cancer on the world and needs to die. Meritocracy and highest qualified/capabilities is how every industry and gov agency should work.

Then I’d vote Sig MPX K for best off the shelf buy. Cons are meh trigger (e.g. mil spec-like) and you have to get an adapter to use non-sig suppressors, but both can be overcome/accepted (I can’t stand shitty triggers, that’s maybe the best upgrade you can immediately make). Similar controls to AR, so no real “learning curve.” Get a good suppressor and some 147gr 9mm rounds…awesome.
-
No you don’t. That’s an unachievable position! Your punishment for making such a bold face lie is to go buy another AR. To answer your question, what are you looking for in the sub gun category - a fun and cheap to shoot range toy or something you may want to rely on for defense? Does it literally need to look close to/same as an MP-5 or just something in the sub-gun category?

Initial Pilot Training and Future Pilot Training

So true. The engineers across industry are mostly great dudes who want to win, just like us. It’s their upper management and c suite that fucks everything up. -
Still have several years to go and then the Raptor can join the club that started in 2001! Incredible they still don’t have a HMCS. It’s a great example of how pathetic our requirements and acquisitions process is.

Experience does not guarantee proficiency. According to that article the crew had 1k/500/“a few hundred” hours…that’s not “extremely” experienced in my book (but also I don’t think that’s a significant contributor in this accident). Now tack on low proficiency (a guess, not stated as fact) and it’s very realistic task saturation/misprioritization led to being a couple hundred feet high, unfortunately at the worst time and place. Let he who has never found themselves a couple hundred (or more) feet high/low cast the first stone. It seems like altitude deconfliction is suspect in the NCR, so how about helos have to hover/hold if an aircraft is < X nm on approach to a runway that’s a factor to a HR, no exceptions (also maybe don’t allow circle to 33 at night). Helo can proceed once aircraft laterally displaced from HR by X amount. Seems a simple procedure change like this could substantially reduce the midair threat.

I’ll summarize this: J6 is all around a horrendous govt subversion slathered in heavy political weaponization of multiple agencies, tied up in a messy, and now widely exposed, scheme to target political opponents of the govt. This guy wasn’t even there. The amount of bold face lies spread about J6 by the MSM and govt officials/congressman, and the related BS charges/sentences that abound, should infuriate all Americans. Is everyone involved completely innocent, nope. Did people do dumb shit and deserve some punishment, yes. But the overarching theme is gross trampling of rights with zero fucks given for the truth or reasonable application of law. I understand you likely disagree with this assessment and that’s your prerogative. But based on this, I do not believe the guy you linked above committed treason, nor do I think any amount of what he did equals a sitting 4 star giving our #1 enemy a heads up on any moves the administration is about to execute/highly considering executing. This could rabbit hole into a lengthy discussion, but I don’t think anyone is interested in that, at least in this thread, so that’s my last piece regarding this guy vs. Milley. Back to Milley specifically…

DEI is horrible and needs to be destroyed, BUT it almost certainly has zero to do with last night. But, that hasn’t stopped millions of people (president on down) from declaring DEI as causal. It’s really sad because those people are showing their ignorance/clinging attachment to a politicized topic, but equally sad that the progressive left has created such a massive problem that many people just now assume that’s the cause. Bad all around.
-
We do agree, but it’s weird you put a link completely irrelevant to the topic of treason and associated punishment, considering that guy (while perhaps a POS as a general statement) didn’t do that.
-
Treason should not be pardonable (obviously assuming due process given and found guilty in trial). If all accounts are true, Milley should be swinging from a rope, not just retiring with lower rank/pay. We’ve completely gone soft on so many things, and treason is maybe the most egregious one of them.
-
Holy shit that is bad. Prayers for all involved. Hoping for a positive outcome for all, or at least most.

They should buy whatever puts the most operational aircraft in their inventory the quickest, guessing that’s not with LM. The RAF is a very hollow force.

Slife the knife on the new adminstration's radar

Don’t have a direct dog in this fight like some of you, but sounds like WGAF how he’s forced out, just that it happens. If it’s his recent DEI apostleship, then so be it. -
They want money spent in their economy, not ours. It’s not about capability for them (the advocates of this idea).

SECDEF is all over it (per his recent X post). Agree with everything above, but now I'm starting to wonder beyond the cut with an axe reasoning I stated earlier, if there was some politically motivated decision making going on, hoping to draw the type of out-of-context/no critical thought reactions we've seen. It is very clear erasing any of this history is not remotely the intention or goal of the DEI EO, nor DoD or AF leadership. I hope it's simply just classic govt bureaucrat action (immediate wide-spread action without thought) that will get resolved quickly, but it wouldn't surprise me if there was a bit of subterfuge at some lower level going on. The rot is everywhere.

We couldn’t possibly know, hasn’t been done 69 times before. “It’ll be a great outcome!” - Gen Bob (who will be long gone before that outcome is realized). And the cycle repeats.
-
What you’ve done is taken a headline and happily perpetuated the emotional clickbait without context. So here’s some context since I took the 6.9 min you did not to look into this: 1. What uhhello said - cut with an axe, the details will get sorted out afterwards (standard govt) 2. Per AF: “the videos themselves were not targeted for removal, but BMT classes that include diversity materials were pulled and are now under review to make sure they are in compliance with this week’s executive orders…historical videos were interwoven into Air Force curriculum and were not the direct focus of course removal actions.” Par for the course and relatively reasonable by big govt standards. These topics are not an issue at all and will happily be discussed in AF PME for decades to come - the specific videos/materials will need to be reviewed and will either be found to have no issue, or if they are some radicalized bullshit version, then they will source better material on those topics. 3. Trump honored Tuskegee airmen at his 2020 SOU, having Gen McGee (who Trump personally pinned his star on) as a personal guest. He is clearly a supporter and not anti-Tuskegee/black. Just a few injections of taking a breath and doing some quick “research” before maxing out seeing red. Try it some time, you’ll like it.

It’s crazy that my kids have better firearm handling/safety skills than a cop. What a failure.

Initial Pilot Training and Future Pilot Training

It is a miracle this hasn’t happened yet. We are all in on the hope/luck-based gameplan. -
What makes it so bad people are willing to take absolute horrendously shit deals to get away?

@Lord Ratner Makes sense, didn’t think about the fact we’re really just trading one for another. I personally would still spend a lot less on unnecessary stuff if the sales tax was high enough, but admittedly that “high enough” definition is very subjective, and perhaps you’re right that for the majority it’d just be seen as a wash and not really move the economic needle an appreciable amount. A big part I do like about replacing property tax with high sales/use tax is I can somewhat control the latter via life choices whereas I have no control over property tax (outside of choosing where I live and what property value I choose to live in). At least if I’m paying a ton of sales tax it’s predominantly on me for deciding to buy new trucks, ski passes, a new TV, etc. Regarding landlords, apparently I made a poor assumption about people not being retarded. Business 101: know your operating costs and plan accordingly.
-
@Lord Ratner Overall agree, good points. I know they literally don’t, and understand your follow on points. But let’s be real, the vast majority (probably 99%) of landlords account for property tax in their rent amount. There are variances in say multi-year leases with a mid-lease property tax hike, but in the end, renters are effectively paying it for the most part. I’m not saying this is all a good reason to keep property tax, just a consideration in the discussion. I’m just thinking what kind of sales tax would be required to replace the loss of property tax revenue. My state is right in the middle of property taxes nationwide (tax rate-wise, not total revenue), and in the top 10 least populated states. In 2023 it had $1.8B in property tax revenue. I feel like that’s a lot of revenue to replace with sales tax, am I wrong? So if it takes a 25% state sales tax to make up that $1.8B (made up for discussion sake), how often do you think I’m going to buy shit that is totally unnecessary? The answer is rarely. Hospitality/food industry: $0, won’t miss it at all. Activities for my kids (gymnastics, etc.): $0, they’ve got plenty of shit to do outside of stuff like that. New furniture, clothes, etc.: Very little - but we’re also not a “we need a refresh every year” family. An airplane…well yeah, I need that, so of course I’ll pay the tax! That’s the type of stuff I mean when I say it could really hurt the economy, at least in some areas.

Best Enlisted Job for Fighter Unit
brabus replied to abc1's topic in Air National Guard / Air Force Reserves
I don’t think any position would be looked down upon. But I think those that you mentioned specifically will have little to no direct interaction with pilots (at least from a daily work perspective)
