The Next President is...
@nunya I just know some guys who have beat my numbers decisively, but I’m not interested in going down that road personally. To do so, I think you have to be really into it, have a deep understanding, and some luck. I’m definitely 1/3 at best.

Well my super lazy investing (index funds/target retirement IRAs) are up 12% in the last year and 4% since Trump took office. So yeah, only positive impact on my investments from Trump’s economic policies. And I’m sure people who are far more active/educated/“pros” in their investing are doing much better. "I can assure you there is no beach volleyball at the Air Force Weapons School."
Great talk by Razin giving an awesome overview of the people and process at the unclass level. It’s awesome he gave a shout out to DTRA. It’s easy to get focused on only the dudes dropping bombs or shooting missiles, but there are a ton of nerds (I mean that in a friendly manner!) out there who love America as much as the warrior does, and they are critical to our success.

The simple answer is because manned ISR assets cannot get the sensors, comms, etc. where we need them to be effective (because they’ll be at the bottom of the ocean well before hitting the effective point). But we can get sensors, comms, etc. where we need them via other means that are far more survivable/robust/expendable, thus actually effective. There’s more nuance than that, but that’s the big picture. Now of course we could sink 100s of Bs into developing a “6th gen” manned ISR platform, but it just doesn’t make sense to do so given emerging technologies and the capabilities we can realize for a lot less (or at least have shitloads more capability for the same price).

@Majestik Møøse I’m very confident in my assessment (and it’s not “mine” per se, but rather I concur with it). Though perhaps we are both thinking of different scenarios/vignettes, which is certainly possible and could drive either position being valid. But, we’re not going to be able to sort that out on the internet. To be clear, I’m not anti-manned ISR, and it will continue to play a role, but there are several scenarios where it has zero game, at least for the foreseeable future (and probably doesn’t make sense to change that vs. putting efforts into UAS, AI, Space, Cyber, etc.)

Israel strikes Tehran
Props to the targeteers as well - that’s a difficult problem to solve, and they crushed it (pun intended). And to the TWAC dude at WIC (blanking on name right now) - I hope you’ve survived the 30hr erection this brought on!

Israel strikes Tehran
I do. Fuck Pakistan; they’re right up there with Iran on the list of POS countries that deserve far worse than what they’ve actually received.

Israel strikes Tehran
They ripped the lid off, now they have to fully finish it. They need an end state like Japan in WW2 - complete demilitarization, confiscation of all war material, etc. Iran cannot have any capability to project power outside its borders. Hopefully this is also a catalyst for the Iranian people to rid themselves of the horrendous regime they’ve been under for the last ~45 years.

Between manned C2ISR and other tech, manned loses every time (in the context of full war with PRC). “Lose” defined as either literally lost, or mission ineffective. Much easier to succeed with other tech (not to say it’s indestructible, can’t be degraded/denied, etc.) than manned. It’s simply the world/near future we live in, at least in PACOM.- E-7A Wedgetail
Not saying it is, but space/UAS/other tech are substantially more effective and survivable/easily replaceable than manned C2ISR in a war with the PRC. I’m not even talking about losing people, I’m purely talking about persistent C2ISR capability that manned assets simply cannot provide.- E-7A Wedgetail
Problem is none of these manned platforms are survivable if WW3 kicks off. UAS constellation and space are the only viable long term solution (speaking specifically to maintaining capes we need whilst in a shooting match with the PRC).- Initial Pilot Training and Future Pilot Training

Realistically manned AWACS has zero utility in the PACOM fight, assuming full blown kinetic (and non-) hostilities. IBS, UAS, etc. were needed yesterday to fulfill the Tac C2 mission in that war.- Commanders are dropping like flies this year

- What happens if you get hired but for some reason can't make the cut?
If it’s in good faith (you’re trying, just T-38s/fighters aren’t in your cards), the unit will generally try to help a guy find a heavy unit willing to take them. This usually works out. If its SIE, then the unit can retain you in another career field, release you, or see if there’s another unit who wants to take you for a non-rated job.- The Next President is...
Not required, it was crystal clear what he was talking about for anyone who has the capacity to listen.- The Next President is...
So you heard it, but did not listen to it - there’s a difference. To address this single point you (and that article) have cherry picked out to try and use as some beacon of “mental faculty loss,” Trump was talking to the cadets about the importance of momentum - finding it, keeping it, and if you lose it, recognize that and pivot. He used an allegory of a businessman he knew who lost momentum, made poor decisions whilst doing so, didn’t recognize it early enough, and thus he basically tubed his life. It was long winded (as Trump can be) and could have been shortened with the same allegorical effect, but the valid message in the allegory is clear…unless one wants to be a politically-motivated hack and try to completely misrepresent it by cherry picking a couple words and talking about it without any context. Trump is a loud mouth and showman, we all know that, but along the lines of public speaking and mental faculties, this speech was 1000x better than Biden or Harris could have given. And that’s not so much a compliment to Trump as it is stating how incredibly bad the other options were…but I digress.- The Next President is...
Nice ludicrously leftist hit piece you referenced. I read the whole transcript - laughable to conclude this is something akin to Biden’s mental implosion. Yep, it’s got Trump flair in it, but his speech is a pretty average political leader speaking at a grad ceremony speech. He actually says a lot of good things and addresses many reasonable topics given the audience. It’s no orator of the century speech, but it’s not remotely what the left (specifically this article) is trying to make it out to be. Bottom line, going to the actual source once again proves to be much better than just immediately gobbling up some garbage article that popped on Google or a CNN link.- The Next President is...
Dear God, please don’t let the Senate fuck this up.- What's wrong with the Air Force?
Would Biff have dibs’d her?- Trump's Cabinet
That’s a hell of a lot of conspiracy theory there. Not to say there are no things that would benefit his companies, but to address a couple of those points: Starlink is a significant force multiplier in many ways - it is an excellent product that will continue to increase our military capabilities. It’s a better investment than much of what we’ve thrown at LM, Boeing, etc. USAID is complete garbage, not even a shell of what it was originally designed to be. Same applies to many orgs/sub-orgs that DOGE highlighted. The regulatory bureaucracy filled with unelected bureaucrats must die - it is not a negative to target those things for closure. - E-7A Wedgetail
