  1. Nowadays journalism is about the same as YouTube influencing. I’ll give each of those “industries” about the same level of respect and trust.
  2. And that’s the extent of their AF’s capability.
  3. @HuggyU2 So the short answer is you don’t want to pay for them yourself. Now we’re all going to have to not only Go Fundme sunglasses for you, but also boots!
  4. Why does anyone care what some arbitrary list says? Wear what’s functional and comfortable (with exception color matches uniform requirement). Haven’t known one occurrence in my entire career where model of flight boots were questioned.
  5. What a classic email. Although to be fair, I’m not sure a cadet in the back of a strike would actually make any difference in their performance! (I’m just giving you shit strike bros, if it wasn’t apparent already)

I believe you can as the injunction nullifies the ATF ruling. Of course you never know when said injunction may be overturned. In practicality though, even if that happened it wouldn’t immediately affect you - you’d just have to not take that ”now illegal” firearm into public to avoid potential LEO interaction (e.g. a repeat of what already happened pre-injunction).

“To finally make this thing legal” - haha, that would be hilarious (and also maybe not work out in your favor)!
  8. Sure…if we ever actually did a full scale land invasion of China. I’m going to put that probability somewhere around 0.00000000069%. It’s a good point in general terms, but irrelevant to the China proper scenario.

@M2 Please tell me you’re still waiting on that Form 1!
  10. Not a single US fighter? What’s up with that?
  11. I do not understand why AFSOC thinks it’s a good idea to fuck with something that has proven to be excellent for the mission set it’s made for. China is our #1 priority, and that doesn’t mean every piece of hardware/community will play. Gunships are not for China, but they are for a hell of a lot of other scenarios. So what happens when many of us are posturing (or worse, actively fighting) China and some shit goes down in Indonesia, Africa, etc. where we can utilize capes like Gunships. It’d be real dumb to not have them, or have them all loaded up with SDB and sans guns. Bottom line: Some can and should adapt to changing threats, but others will only worsen by just blindly jumping on the bandwagon headed towards something they have no chance of being effective in.
  12. No rule, completely subjective. 2-3 years is probably as good a ROT as any.
  13. US acquisitions process - where good ideas go to die. Good luck gunship bros.
  14. Just got my mail in ballot for a state I haven't been a resident/legal voter in for over 10 years. Only have contacted the SoS office about this 5 times. Yep, mail in ballot system, totally legit!
  15. Fair enough. I live in a community like you describe (except I think the academics are not good), so I’m not just following some notion that MSM is pushing (I don’t consume MSM hardly ever anyways). But, my wife and I have several years of significant involvement in “the school world” that transcends state borders, so my viewpoint is formed based on a lot of data and personal experience from around the country. “If it’s not woke, then it’s crap academics” applies to a vast majority of this country, though of course outliers in XYZ small town do exist. Congrats to anyone who lives in those towns, but you’re experience is a tiny drop in a large bucket compared to our country at large. As a broad example, only one state in the entire country breaks the 70% barrier on math and reading/language arts proficiency for HS grads. It’s a rapid freefall from there for the rest of the US. If you don’t live in Maine, your state is objectively failing at primary education. I encourage every parent to dig deep into their kids’ schools performance. If you don’t see +70% proficiency or are given some BS story about how the data’s not there, Covid excuse, etc…you have your answer. Also, be directly and annoyingly involved in your kids ed - if you’re cool with “fine” being the answer you get when asking how was school, then you have way lower SA than you think you have. Dig into their homework, what exactly they’re taught in class, etc. Many of you would probably be surprised at a min about the low standards and quality/challenge level of work your kid is doing. I have been told more times than I can remember, “well our schools are great,” or “we don’t have that here in our schools/town,” only to hear “fuck, you were right, what can we do now?” months or year+ later. All those data points help support my skepticism anytime someone makes the aforementioned claims. It’s not personal, or an attack, it’s just standing on a lot of data and evidence that truly “great public schools” are an extreme minority in 2023, and the odds are the “royal you” aren’t in those districts.
  16. BLM, Palestine/anti-Jew, etc. protestors - they are all people without a shred of individual thought and amount to nothing more than useful idiots for anti-American causes. I’ll hold my breath waiting for any of these jackasses going to jail.
  17. That’s what those with their head in the sand say. Sorry man, you either got woke, poor academics, or both. The amount of each can be all over the place depending on part of the country, but one or both are there to some degree.
  18. Spoiler alert, there are no good public schools, anywhere, at all.

@wikz What I meant is do the easiest degree (for you personally) to get the highest GPA. That usually means having some interest in the topic, so I suppose that could be psych in your case. But definitely do not make it harder by doing BS over BA. If you think you’ll do better at business for example, then do that. Airlines are hiring without degrees now. That could change by the time you get to that hypothetical point, so having the box checked isn’t a bad thing.

Go with the easiest degree for highest GPA. Nobody in the guard will give a fuck about BA vs. BS…they’ll glance at your GPA and that’s about it. As far as backup civ life, ref boomer’s comment above. Doesn’t make sense to do psych if you have no desire to do psych in the civ world. Also, if you do change your mind and go that way, be prepared to need a masters, and then be in massive debt with decades ahead of you to break even. College is a losing proposition these days for many people, so go to check the box so you can commission, but that’s about the only reason to go (if your main goal is mil officer/pilot).
  21. I know lots of people who sell airplanes to their LLCs. Also know people who purchase planes with one LLC and lease them to their other LLC. Sorry I don’t have personal, direct knowledge to share, but it’s obviously doable and legal based on the amount of people I see do it with no problems (and I’ve asked about tax implications).
