  1. @nsplayr Your experience is standard in so many places. There’s a lot of open land to build in some places, but when you throw in city gov, politics with developers, etc. it’s just a losing battle for the normal person. I looked into building a “large” hangar (3-4 GA acft size) at the nearby city airport…likely near $1M and I don’t get to own the land. Not worth it, no matter how much I love flying.
  2. It’ll be swept under the rug immediately, and you’ll be a racist, ______phobic, etc. if you bring it up. Just like every mass shooting when the shooter is trans, minority, illegal alien, etc.
  3. It’s certainly not her fault that our society has spent a couple decades fucking over women and minorities who actually earn their way. I truly hope she’s awesome like many of the women I’ve flown with.
  4. The hangar situation across a lot of the US is a total disaster - main reason I don’t currently own a plane. Really sucks.
  5. @Biff_T What you’re looking for is light sport (LSA) and Basic Med. However, I believe you have to have a current class 3 in order to get basic med initially (and then you’re gtg even if you subsequently lose the class 3). But, worth doing further research on the class 3 req/waiver process to get basic med without class 3. …or ref BFM’s post. Way more people flying without license/med/insurance than most think. I’m not condoning it, but it is fact.
  6. She’s bulletproof now. Sorry pipeline bros who have to pass her through every step, regardless of performance. I hope she actually gives a shit about being a pilot, works her ass off at it, and accepts responsibility for her performance. But, also won’t be surprised if none of that is true.
  7. That’s rough for SWA wannabes. Hopefully they also have apps in at DL/UA/AA.
  8. Yeah. Granted it by no means is a norm, but it has happened. Also have seen many sq/cc in the last couple years that were very new O-5s. Like been one for months, not years. AD’s dumbassery combined with airline hiring has ravaged the ranks.
  9. Anyone who supports shit like this or worse, actually believes in it, are the dumbest motherfuckers to waste oxygen in our earth's history thus far. Its well beyond "everyone's entitled to their opinion," and squarely lies in the realm of "you lack the mental processing power of even a below average adult mind."
  10. FS/CC major has already happened a few years ago. It’s been that bad for that long. To be clear, he’s a patch and very capable, so this doesn’t reflect on him personally.
  11. I wanted to decline school in 1st look, OG and WG didn’t concur (they “knew what was best” for me). The WG joked, “well you can just go to the guard if you won’t go to school now, but you need to go so I’m pushing this forward. It’ll be good for your career.” I had the last laugh on that one! AD will never learn that guys just want some semblance of QOL control for their families and more of a say on the career “track” they want. AD will never be OK with dudes who just want to take part in the dismantling of our enemies.
  12. It’s cheaper to stay in a decent place in Old Town than it is to stay at Andrews. WTF?
  13. I don’t agree with you often, but fuck yeah, nailed it! Credit where credit is due.
  14. You can get PME points that count towards a guard retirement, but not an AGR retirement (e.g. if you knocked out PME as a DSG). I want the days counting towards an AGR since I’m close enough to maybe get one. I was on orders when I did ACSC in correspondence, so don’t want those days to not count towards my AGR retirement just because I happened to be enrolled in PME at the time.
  15. Dammit, now I have to scrutinize which type I’m on before selecting the exit row. Another strike against the 73!
  16. Man you are super clever and capable of useful thought, bless your heart. Anyhow, back on topic. Good oped regarding Gay’s resignation, how DEI has destroyed academia, corporations and in general our society, and what universities like Harvard (and other orgs) should do to unfuck themselves. https://www.thefp.com/p/bill-ackman-how-to-fix-harvard
  17. If it’s actually a “real” roll call, do not tell a story, an instant justice, etc. Even if asked…your only response is whatever their toast is and take the shot. No matter how funny you think a story at college, while flying a 172, etc is, it will not land as well as you think. Don’t get hammered - you haven’t earned the ability to get wrecked and have all of them still like you the next day. Also helps you maintain control of yourself and not say dumb shit. Be yourself. Don’t try to be someone you *think* they want you to be.
  18. I can’t be the only one, so cranimum’s up everyone… Did ACSC while on full time orders several years ago. Just realized my PCARS only granted PME points during that timeframe instead of giving me the active days points. So until fixed, I am about 6 months short of owed active days towards an AGR retirement. Check your shit guys, I’m an idiot for taking this many years to figure it out.
  19. Not a comment on the dude’s decision, but just on your egregiously retarded statement.
  20. I like Vivek. Not saying he’s perfect or I agree on 100%, but those will always be true statements for anybody vying for my vote. Too bad we’re all going to be force fed old guy vs old guy, as is tradition. I hope he can posture well for a ‘28 run.
  21. Is that applicable to naked gunner hugs? I’ve only heard about it. Maybe an expert in that kind of thing (*cough* @ClearedHot *cough*) can provide fill-ins.
  22. If so, he’s about to be 69 million times better off than being a wing/cc…I can’t imagine having to do a job that full of queep, bullshit, and politics.
  23. @Smokin It completely is doable, just people need to pay attention to their local happenings and be proactive. I think a large reason states like CO have completely transformed is because it all happened slowly prior to Covid, when max amount of people were blissfully ignorant to just about everything and were happy to be that way. Covid was the catalyst for waking up millions of Americans to the bullshit that was seeping everywhere. Now people are paying a lot more attention and have substantially less trust in govt and public entities at all levels. It’s substantially more difficult for progressive Polly to sneak onto the school board, get on city council 3 years later, and end up Mayor 6 years after that (e.g. the long game played in states like CO). The game has changed, and not in the progressive’s favor.
  24. I thought DAL was my retirement job, but maybe there’s more $ to be made in eco-friendly dildos. @Biff_T and I are going to be rich!
