  1. I don't think he's necessarily saying that he doesn't think he can make it through the program. Some folks just realize its not really what they wanted...it happens. I can totally respect a dude for making that tough decision early on...before going to UPT and wasting the taxpayer $. I wouldn't go so far as to say the guy is being a bitch. As been said several times already, you want to make sure 100% that your decision won't get you forced shaped right out of the AF...and if you either went to USAFA or had a ROTC scholarship, you may have to pay those back. It happens.
  2. I have heard several airline passenger briefings over guard, and once over center freq....and they never seem to get old. Especially after their wafer listening to everyone step on each other so they could make fun of the dude. I'm wondering if its an initiation that airline guys have. I know that just about every time I key the mic I take a glance at what radio I'm transmitting on...however I still end up with occasional radio buffonery.
  3. This, my friends, is why girls and academy cadets do not mix.

I'm surprised that no one has listed Budweiser. I thought that it was the King of Beers?

Ziegenbock (Brewed and available ONLY in Texas.... Beav!) Blue Moon Magic Hat #9 Warsteiner and Fat Tire isn't that bad. I wouldn't list it as one of my favorites though. I didn't go to the Academy either!
  6. I have several good buds that are AD and still flying Fred out of Dover, so I think you may have bad intel. Also, quite a bit of AD Fred drivers here @ Travis.
  7. You going? If so, you should take some pictures.

Ern- If the base you are moving to has quite a bit of on-base housing available, you can most likely get a 4 BR house. However, if the base has limited housing available (as it is here at Travis), you have to have at least 3 kiddos to get a 4BR. Another positive, in addition to what PilotKD said, is that you can keep your house as cold/as warm as you would like without having to pay out the arse in utilities. The last time I lived on base, my house was always a meat locker during the summer months.
  9. Is there an AFSC now for Uniform Monitor, or is it just an additional duty?
  10. Easier said than done.

  14. Good post C-21. If anyone is flying into Louisianna, the same rules apply...be sure to try the smoked nutria.
  15. Send C-21 Pilot a PM, I think he's been up in there.
  16. That just cracks me up. Does anyone know if things are as gay @ Dafra?
  17. Cutting off your pen flap isn't a fighter thing, its a pilot thing. Fighter guys cut off their 'Peter Pocket' because they have that pocket on the G-suit. Since us trash haulers don't wear G-suits, we leave it be...that is unless you are gay. When I was casual w/the Gorillas @ Eglin one of the other casual dudes was called out by the SQ/CC in front of about 30 guys during a roll call for having is peter pocket intact. Poor bastard!
  18. I took out money so that I would have to work as much during school, and hopefully make better grades. It all worked out fine, but I just wished that maybe I would of worked more so that I won't be paying on the loans until I'm in my 40's. The monthly payments don't hurt at all, just the fact that you're paying interest on the loan for so long.
  19. Tertle, Just be careful on how much of a loan you take. I took a little too much while I was in school, and am now wishing I hadn't. My wife (girlfriend then) also had student loans, so now I have to pay for 2 loans! The loan payments per month aren't bad at all, but then you are paying on them for what seems like an entire lifetime. Nelnet.net is a good place to borrow from. Like all the others, you get discounts for having the payments made via automatic draft. I always hate sending in a stupid check every month for bills.
  20. I'm thinking that back seats in the Eagle DO NOT have a HUD. I could be wrong.

Taking Benadryl as a flier makes you DNIF. You can't self medicate with that. Has it been done before? Probably. Just hope you don't have a mishap and have to piss in the bottle.
  22. Short drive to Lake Tahoe, and FREE skiing (for Active Duty) @ Squaw Valley.
  23. You should of given me a ring over at the Gorillas (back in 2001). All of our casual "scabbies" got the hook up. I was able to rack up 34 hrs in the back seat of the D model. I probably could of flown more, but my golf game would of suffered.
  24. By the way, someone does need to send that SSgt McKee an email.
