  1. We ate at some wing joint on the main drag across from Wal-Mart...was descent. Wings were hot, beer was cold...what more could one want? As far as things to do as a casual LT, I would say drive to Tuscaloosa (home of Auburn). Much tail to be had. Or, you could always drive the 3.5 hr drive to the Redneck Riviera for the weekend. Be sure to stop by Sammys while you're there...just tell them Slim sent ya!
  2. We're not bashing the dude by any means, we are simply making observations about his picture, and so did 100 people surveyed: Survey says..........
  3. Scooter-- You so should of asked Chunk when it was mandatory for people of the same rank to salute each other. Kind of like when I first came on active duty, and I passed a 1Lt in front of finance. I was nice and said, "Hey, how's it going?", with no salute since we were both LT's. He then told me that I should of rendered him a salute, since he had a silver bar instead of a gold one. I then snapped to attention, and popped a perfect salute...giving a sarcastic "Sorry about that SIR". Hopefully, the AF force-shaped his @ss.
  4. Always good advice, however I go by: "Fly what you WANT, log what you need."
  5. Agreed, those guys don't fly all that much. Can't wait to hear the results of the board...it seriously could of been anything. Always glad to hear everyone made it out ok.
  6. Thanks for the pictures, truly amazing. Looks like real estate is quite cheap out there. Definitely makes one appreciate what we have here in the United States.

XNA is one of our standard fuel stops coming back from Andrews. SUPER nice ladies behind the desk, and the line guys are pretty nice as well. Highly recommend.
  8. How long does all of the training take? And, how long from the start of training until you are Mission Qual'd?? Just curious.
  9. So does anyone actually commute from West Sacramento to Travis? I'd imagine it would take up to an hour each way. Can anyone shed some light?
  10. Is wearing a glove really going to prevent ripping a finger off? You shouldn't be wearing a ring anyways...especially if you're TDY. Nice.
  11. I personally enjoy the story of the Col who rode around on his bicycle, and apparently had a small Col liscense plate on said bike, so folks could render a salute as they walked to the bus stop. He also had Col rank on his bike helmet too. I laugh everytime I hear about that dork. Here is my Died story: One night several of us C-21 guys decided to hit up the Muff for some good times (and yes, C-21 guys do deploy to the Deid). One of our guys was a DV planner that worked in the CAOC, so he was the only one with access. He was able to hook us all up with visitors passes so that we could attend all the festivites @ the Muff. One of our guys didn't have his ID with him, but no problem. We were still able to get in. After a few hours of karaoke, we decided to cut out and head to the Camp Andy chow hall for the midnight meal. Little did we know that they were checking IDs that night, and our guy that was able to get into the CAOC w/o his ID was not allowed into the chow hall. We all laughed at him and continued through the line without him. And to those who have yet to experience all the Died has to offer, here is my advice: Be nice to the TCNs. If they ever decide to overthrow the base, they will remember that you were nice to them, and will not harm you. [ 13. August 2006, 18:55: Message edited by: C21Cowboy ]
  12. Totally true...good observation HD.
  13. So I guess you'd get your -38 qual in house @ Whiteman (for the heavy guys)? Kind of like how they do things for the U-2 @ Beale?
  14. I know that a couple of years ago C-21 guys were allowed to go over to the B-2. I don't think that its an option anymore though.
  15. Isn't there actually a Falconview class @ Hill?
  16. I asked the question last year... http://www.dynamictruth.com/cgi-bin/ultima...1/t/002597.html
  17. Has anyone else heard that 135s were going to be stationed @ Andersen? If so, I don't think that would be too bad of an assignment. [ 09. July 2006, 12:01: Message edited by: C21Cowboy ]
  18. I can relate sucking @ Slack-a-demics, luckily I didn't have too much problem with the flying portion. Some guys at UPT can get away with coming home after a 12-hour day and studying for 3 hours. I, on the other hand, couldn't stand doing that. Like Phlash said, take time to relax and get your mind off of the daily grind. It will certainly help combat the stress of pilot training. Good luck and keep up the good attitude.
  19. Thats hilarious. Exact same thing happen to me. When I showed the guy my line badge he told me that according to the regs, if I voluntarily show him my line badge when not in a restricted area, it is a sign of durress and he can arrest me. I was like what? Whats even scarier is that these kids walk around with their 9 mil on fire. Damn skycops.
  20. Fred is the nickname for the C-5.
  21. Surfed around this bad boy just the other day...just about 20NM away though. Top was at 550. Everything's bigger in Texas!!
  22. I agree with the advice of starving yourself of sleep until you're on normal sleeping hours in Japan. However, if you do catch an hour or two on the slowtater, you won't be hosed altogether. Have a soju or two for me!!
  23. Like being deployed wasn't bad enough. Maybe we should try the same thing with the prisoners out @ Gitmo. They will be so humiliated they will have to choice but to give information about their cousins who are planting IEDs out in Iraq. No wonder our marine brothers poke fun at us.
  24. I went to pilot training with that kid...pretty standard for him.
