  1. Things never change...Somerset was the same way when I was there back in '01. I lived right by the brooks bridge (near the Publix), and I found it through the housing office listings @ Eglin. It was a 900 sq ft condo. Not quite within walking distance to the beach, but only about a 5-10 min drive.
  2. Yeah, no kidding. I had to wear my service dress a few months ago (1st time in about 4.5 yrs), and ended up popping a button off. I guess it gets frail sitting in the closet. Theres no way they will follow through with stupid shit like this....if its actually true, which me thinks is not.

My pencil logs that ACDTQT every refresher sim I have.
  4. So true.
  5. Whoever said that Fairfield wasn't straight up gangsta?? The funny thing is that we drive through some of those streets on our way back to the base from Chipotle. If you're ever in the area on a RON, remember that Fairfield south of Air Base Parkway is not where you should be after the sun goes down! Ref:

A very good buddy of mine flys the U2 right now, and he deploys like a mofo. Something like 60 days gone, 60 days home, rinse, repeat. Seems like he's never home.
  7. For those that use skype...here's my question. If I'm wanting to call my wife back in the states, and I'm in the desert (with wifi), all I have to do is install skype on my laptop and install skype on my desktop computer at home, and we can talk to each other unlimited since skype to skype calls are free? If thats the case, what subscription do you buy? The $2.95/mo unlimited US & Canada plan? I know this shit is a couple years old already, but I'm still not grasping just how to set it up/how much it'll cost. I always hate having to use DSN and call the f-ing operator asking for an off-base line everytime.
  8. I think we should probably change the draft to a live draft. That way if you wanted to pick your players yourself, you can. If not, or you can't make it to a computer on draft day, the computer will just auto-pick your players based on your player rankings. Cast your vote in the referenda section on the league page.

Sprint works well there...not sure about AT&T though.
  10. If you do nothing at all, your list will be the default ESPN player rankings. Myself, like most, will move guys in the rankings based on how YOU think they'll fare. If there's someone in particular you just HAVE to have on your team, move them up to the top of the list and you'll probablly end up with him. Either way, you'll probably be good to go.
  11. Thanks for signing up ladies...looks like the league is full up now. The auto-pick draft is on 31 Aug, so you have all month to pre-rank your favorite players before the regular season begins. Fantasy Football for dummies
  12. That dude didn't really know what he was talking about...if he was actually talking about orders. You can probably get away with it on a pax manifest, however the pax terminal @ Hickam will raise eyebrows when you turn in a pax manifest from the Travis pax terminal AND a manifest that the crew typed up (with just you on it). As long as you are on leave, and are entitled to space-A, you should be ok. However, this guy (and maybe you) might get some heat for circumnavigating the space a 'sign up list'. Especially if the jet is full. Like was mentioned before, as active duty on leave, you will be pretty close to the top of the list (ahead of all the ORFs). When we're carrying 70+ seats to Hawaii, we rarely fill every seat as well. SUU-HIK is one of the most flown routes in AMC. You will have 0 problems making it there and back. If you have a choice, fly on a -10. We're a much quieter/comfortable/quicker ride. Unless we're dragging Hogs.
  13. Excellent old guy rant. Couldn't have been said any better. This should be pinned at the top.
  14. The AMC/CC flys with our sq on a somewhat regular basis, and someone actually asked him about morale patches. More specifically, about wearing a patch like "C-130" or a picture of your jet. He actually said that he thought they were a good idea and went a step further to say that he would see what he could do to put that in writing. ...that was about 6 months ago, and we havent seen anything yet.
  15. I'm good friends with MG Scott's son, so maybe I'll ask him to ask his pops about what he thinks. Our wing went through this earlier this year, and it has quickly died out. It was never mandatory, just HIGHLY encouraged.
  16. The draft is set up as an autodraft, so that way you don't actually have to be online at a specific time/date.
  17. Excellent advice. Trust me, this guy would not think twice about diming out an O.
  18. Anyone here interested in getting a Baseops fantasy football league going this year? If so, I set up a private league over at ESPN. I was able to log in while deployed @ Dhafra, so you should be able to access your lineup in the AOR...that is unless you're @ the Deid (most likely). There's room for a total of 10 teams, and its free. Here's the link: Fantasy Foosball 08 League name: Baseops Password: gucci
  19. Technically, the FS is a crew member. I hope they find the others soon.
  20. I would go with whatever class dates helps your chances of graduating (getting hitched during Phase I). Not that you won't be able to juggle a wedding and phase II, it might just cause added stress. Good luck with both!

    I don't know, but after watching that guy's video I think I'm a believer.
  22. Sounds like a paid testamonial.

Probably not the best advice either. I've always been told that its better to leave the account intact with $0 balance...you just have to be smart and not use the thing. Its better for your credit score than just closing each account.
  24. Seriously dude, you need to take your pills...and my feet aren't that self-righteous. I'll buy you & anyone else a beer next time I'm in Clovis. I think there's still a bar there.
  25. I'm sure its a bunch of non-flyers behind the whole no external drive rule. You would think that if crews had their epubs on their thumb drives they would allow that. I can't see them taking that away. I seriously got a good chuckle out of that.
