  1. Not totally new---AMC FCIF released this past summer. Check your FCBs. Approval to Fly Jepp Terminal Instrument Procedures Without TERPS Review(11-08-17) HQ USAF/A3O granted AMC/A3 a waiver to the AFI 11-202V3 requirement to conduct TERPS reviews of Jeppesen instrument procedures constructed from United States Government aeronautical data in August 2011. This FCIF provides clarity and rescinds and replaces FCIF 11-08-17. The use of Jeppesen procedures without a TERPS review is authorized when within the National Airspace System (NAS), at a specially-accredited location, or at a non-specially-accredited location having the exact same DOD published procedure available. For specially-accredited and non-specially-accredited procedures when also published by the DoD, pilots will conduct a comparison review of the two procedures and use the DoD in any case where significant differences are noted. For non-specially-accredited procedures, if the exact same DoD published procedure is not available, the pilot will obtain full TERPS/FTIP review of the Jeppesen procedure prior to use. The most current USAF specially-accredited list will be available within AMC ePubs in the ALL GLOBAL /FLIP folder. Pilots flying Jeppesen procedures must have completed Jeppesen training via the Instrument Refresher Course or from an approved ATS contract course and must check Jeppesen NOTAMS prior to the use of a procedure. Jeppesen NOTAMS can be found at: http://www.jeppesen.com/company/alerts/alerts.jsp
  2. If you want a work around, you can save a PDF of an airports Jepp charts then view them in an app such as good reader. Works just as well if you just want to view approach plates, SIDs, & STARs. Also allows you to make notes on them if you wish (especially handy for showing taxiway closures or unsuitable areas. At least you can now use them CONUS & the "specially accredited" fields.
  3. I went to school in Lubbock & my folks lived in Clovis, so I made that drive often. I can tell you that the drive is exactly 1.5 hrs, then add another 20 min out to Cannon. Logging 4 hrs in the car each day doesn't seem worth it to me.
  4. What they were really doing to making chemtrails. I'm sure of it!
  5. Feb is a good month to go. I was there in May & we had to hang out in the 1st floor hallway @ the hotel for a few hrs due to several tornados rolling through town. Staying down in Bricktown is key. Always nice to be able to booze it up & stumble back to your room instead of having a DD or cabbing it.
  6. I know several guys that live in Sac, both married & single, and the commute isn't horrible. Probably in the neighborhood of 45 min or a little less.
  7. We spent our Monday listening to PowerPoint briefings, but at least we could wear flight suits. That made it a tad more tolerable. I like the idea of ultimate frisbee & going home early though. I'm curious to what the suicide rates are for corporations similar in size to the AF. I'm guessing that it's probably pretty similar. I agree that ops tempo & the like are contributors, but very small ones. More likely are issues such as financial problems/depressed economy & family issues. Oh, and Napoleon, I think you need to be more resilient & bounce back from that article!
  8. A quick Facebook profile search could yield some results. In any case, she sounds like an Academy grad.
  9. http://boston.barstoolsports.com/m/random-thoughts/could-tim-tebow-really-just-be-the-antichrist/ This just in...Tebow is the Anti-Christ!
  10. Smart principal. I too would suspend the shit out of anyone Tebowing. That is unless they were mocking him or Tebowing after doing something shitty (as demonstrated by Tosh).
  11. Maybe its just the Raider fan in me, but I can't stand the guy. He's finding a way to win for now, but I don't see him having long term success. I think Daniel Tosh sums Tebow up best...
  12. I had a spare copy of a Su-24 dash-1 laying around too! I'm sure he just wants to get a head start on Iranian UPT.
  13. Had to take a picture of this. For your PHA, they want you showing up at 0700 to get you battery of tests done. By the time you make it to the hearing test place (last stop), its 0800. Then, you look at the sign saying that everyone is doing PT until 0900. Fucking great! Then, you have to come back to see the Doc in the afternoon, which consists of a 5 minute bullshit session and signing several 1042s. Standard AF waste of time.
  14. Is this still legit? I just had my finance outprocessing brief and they told us all it is still $0.19/mile (there handout had the same figure).
  15. I'm in too. I think I won last year.
  16. Just got 3 new flightsuits last week & the sleeves fully down only go to about halfway down my forearm. I guess I'll have to throw them away now so I'm not breaking the rules. Great job AF...reason #6969 that a lot of good dudes are punching!
  17. All of this beer talk is getting me thirsty...not sure which one I want.
  18. Looked like a classic KC-135 overrun---point parallels are tough! That is true...I have had several F-15Es in OEF randomly join our wing thinking we were another tanker. A-10s wouldn't be able to join when we are orbiting as we would have to get slats & flaps out for him to even stay with us.
  19. Yeah, they are called FAIPs. I know in the KC-10 community, those that are sent to UPT assignments are all at least ACs. About 90% of KC-10 guys that go down to AETC are ACs, and 10% IPs. Of those percentages, I would say that about 75% of both ACs & IPs were very new to their qual. We seem to do that quite often these days in our community, that is upgrade someone early so that they could qualify for a particular assignment. We recently had a guy get a G-V assignment (required IP) before having started IP upgrade. He must have had dirt on the CC.
  20. I've always thought that not getting through a formal training program resulted in an FEB---not downgrading that person to their previous qual. At lease thats how it works in the KC-10. If you're upgrading to IP, and can't get through the program you eventually find your way to an FEB---of course not before several 'Training Review Boards' held by the squadron to try & help the guy/gal out. I'm not sure I'd mind being downgraded to a copilot. Same pay, no responsibilities. Sign a brother up!
