  1. Here's what the glass will look like: I know its not G-14 Classified, but nice OPSEC bro.
  2. Fatboy-- I would have put McGuire @ #1 on the CONS list.
  3. It also gives you an excuse for a lack-luster season.
  4. Though not shot at as often as the herky bird, we have had pot shots taken at us a few times. Low & slow & well within the WEZ. In fact, usually we're low & slow because we're trying to fly @ 190 KIAS refueling the -130.
  5. I guess I shouldn't have gone on the road last week! I see that there is still one spot left, is it mine?
  6. I'll play again this year. We going to play for some $$? $20/ea might make it interesting.
  7. Yep, got it. Your inbox must be full...said you couldn't accept messages. Thanks for the input.
  8. Just looking for some information on flying C-37s in Belgium. How big the unit is, how much flying, where most live near Chievres, etc. I might have an opportunity to go out there, but have never lived in Europe. I haven't heard too many people say they hated their time overseas in Europe, but just want to make sure the fam is happy there. Thanks! Techsan
  9. KC-10 types get about 300 hrs per deployment, and most guys on average deploy 2-3 times per yr. So, right now most (especially co's) are getting about 800 hrs/year. We have several copilots now who have over 100 combat sorties...and thats before AC upgrade. Most upgrade to AC around the 2 year mark.
  10. Anyone have any good aviation-related apps for the iphone? More specifically, good aviation weather apps that show int'l destinations in additon to the US stuff.
  11. Make a claim on your homeowner/renters insurance...it follows you when you travel. Better than eating $700!

    Magic Jack

Our sq has been using the those IO Magic 12GB & 8GB gigabank hard drives and were told by our base comm that they were ok to use...just as long as it was bought & issued to you by your unit. They said the same thing...if its spins, its good (if it was issued to you). Oh yeah, I've already had one shit on me. I used it for about 5 months.
  13. I've had limited success with Skype on my tilt. Works 10x better on the laptop. Doesn't suprise me much because I have to be almost on top off the Wifi signal in order to connect on my phone.
  14. Rebirth of Doc...awesome.
  15. Yeah, when I bought my 3GS week before last, I didn't realize they didn't come out until this past Friday...mine will be arriving tommorow.
  16. I've lived in Clovis for almost 7 yrs, and can totally agree with the above post. It will take time for ranchers & other folk to become familiar with something other than F-111s and F-16s. I find those 2 Clovis News Journal articles pretty hilarious...they really do have nothing better to do than talk about the weather and wonder why this military airplane is circling over thier little town.
  17. Yup...supposed to be shipped to me via 2nd day air, and I placed my order last week on the 12th. Their website is still saying my order is being processed and should be shipped between 2-5 business days. I called their phone number, and it said that the phones are on backorder. Oh yeah, we weren't eligible for a upgrade, so we just paid out of pocket. I plan on selling my tilt though via Ebay and hopefully get a little cash for it. Totally worth it though. My wife's phone was supposed to be her anniversary gift...which was on the 14th. Ouch!
  18. Not only does this guy (or what I think is a guy) have a retarded tat across his/her beer gut, but he/she doesn't see the need to remove the UPC from his/her f-ing tight Wranglers. Double fail!
  19. I ordered two iphone 3Gs last week & can't wait for 'em. Just found out today that they are on backorder.
  20. Whose your AC? I could probably tell you whether or not you need to pp-swab his O2 mask. You'll have to send me a PM & tell me how Alpena went. We'll be out there in October. Don't let your left seater taxi ya'll off the 75' to 75' 90 deg you have to make after exiting the end of rwy 01.
  21. I'm just glad I wear an AT&T operator style headset when I fly...with all pro gear in my possession and not subject to tea bagging. I'm loving the stories of this awesome AF leader.
  22. We like doing this as well. Its nice being down in Waikiki, even with all the tourists. Its also nice being @ Bellows. Bellows the perfect place to throw some beer in a cooler, fire up the grill, and make a day of it. I think its also one of the nicest beaches on the island. Great way to relax. When my wife originally caught wind that we were staying at a 'DOD only' hotel, she didn't think it would be really that nice. She was surprised! It was very reasonable and had an AAFES shoppette on property with reasonable prices. We didn't eat much @ the hotel for many meals, except for breakfast. The Koko Cafe was perfect for breakfast...great view (if you sit on the 2nd floor patio), good food, and it was very inexpensive. For standard pancakes, bacon, oj, and coffee, it was $5. This was back in 2005, but I'm sure its still about the same. Smokin-my wife would have been a little pissed if she had to walk the 3 miles from the gate to the beach, especailly in the heat.
  23. You are correct, sir. KC-10 RVSM compliant. When the whole RVSM thing came to the states (2005-ish), the C-21 was non-compliant. So, we had to mission plan everything at 270 & 280. It usually depended which center you were with 1st after departure to whether or not they let you up. Our success rate was usually 80%, and the higher you request in RVSM, the more likely you were to get approved. As far as the FAA RVSM denial form goes, we filled that sucker out everytime center denied us RVSM. Also, if we were allowed into RVSM we had to say "Josa 69, FL390, negative RVSM, DOD aircraft". You need to include 'DOD' because there are other categories of negative-RVSM aircraft that can access the airpace without the equipment suffix. Anyone here know if the remaining C-21s in the inventory are RVSM compliant? They were modding a few jets when I was there, but not sure if they did all of them.
  24. Probably not the best US landmark to do a photo-op with @ low altitudes.
  25. Boeing Rejected Takeoff Studies Read the attached article from Flight Safety magazine. It was written by a former KC-10 guy and has some good arguments against high-speed aborts. BTW, high-speed anything and C-130 doesn't jive! Abortarticle_Hummel.doc
